Rated 2 out of 5 by Unhappy Camper This location would not allow me to cash out my room when I checked in. I normally provide a credit card which they can hold for incidentals but I like to cash out and I was unable to do so for some unknown reason. The lights in my room were difficult to cut on and off. I could not cut on the bathroom light without the full room light and disturbing my boyfriend. The room was freezing. Our room phone would not work, meaning it did not connect to the front desk when we dialed zero. I had to use my cell phone to get someone from the front desk to instruct on how to work the thermostat. They did not have anyone to bring us an extra blanket. This was my first stay at Aloft and my last. May 10, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great customer service Great stay...love the concept with two exceptions. I am not comfortable seeing a dog in the "breakfast snack area even though the owner was holding the dog. Secondly, for an eco friendly hotel, serving our to go breakfast in styrofoam just threw a curve into the concept. May 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff and rooms The hotel staff at check in was very accomodating and willing to help with my WIFI issue along with suggesting a great nail salon. The rooms were nice and clean and enough room for one person. I loved the division with the shower and toilet with the sink. May 13, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Different but not really impressed!! This hotel is visually on point! It's modern and up to date with all the amenities you would expect. The staff was pleasant and it is located next to plenty of restaurants and shopping. With that said, I will not stay again for the following reasons. First, the beds are hard and very uncomfortable! Because they sit on platforms the top mattress is not secure and slides around. We must have knocked our shins 3 or 4 times in two days. Second, the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor and is definitely the most sadistic shower I have ever had! The water pressure was so intense that after about 45 seconds it just hurt! There was no way to adjust the pressure at all and was frustrating as well as painful. Third, The drinks at the bar are more expensive then any drink I have ever had at any restaurant or bar in my life. I paid $15 for a Capt. and Coke including tip! It was good, but not that good! You should hit the liquor store before you get there! For what I paid per night I expected a nice comfortable bed and a shower that doesn't leave me scared from what feels like a horrible beating. I want to be able to have a drink without busting my wallet! All the splendor of the Aloft might please you visually but as far as comfort goes, I am not impressed. May 13, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Family travel We are a traveling family. Both kids are active in sports and play on various travel teams. I also coordinate travel for our teams and am responsible for booking rooms for tournaments. I am an SPG member and we often stay at Aloft Hotels, some of them multiple times. We have enjoyed the National Harbor, BWI, and Short Pump Aloft locations. Our recent stay at the Chesapeake location is the worst Aloft that we have experienced. We had two rooms. The staff member who checked us in (and also checked us out the next day) was beyond approach. One room had been smoked in/stunk bad, our second room was dirty, but these items are trivial in comparison to the real issue with this property, This is a full-on party hotel. Get this, when we checked-in they made us sign an agreement that we would be charged $250 for hosting a party in our room...I have never seen such a thing and obviously partying is an issue at this property for such a document to exist. I should of turned around and left when she made me sign that. All night long there were people in the hall whooping, foul language, drunken arguing, someone knocked on our door at 2:30am (front deck did not answer the phone after the knock on our door), constant doors slamming, and loud moaning sounds from "adult activity" clearly audible through the walls (our kids kept asking if "those people are alright"). In the middle of the night I would dare say it was not safe beyond our door in the hallway. The place was a free for all and was a mix staying in a frat house and the projects. None of us got any sleep at all. And insult to injury, upon check-out they/she double charged us for one of our rooms meaning that they charged me for my room and my in-laws room (read grandparents in their mid 70's) as well as charging them for their room, This facility was out of control and really soured us on Aloft properties. Customer service has been contacted. May 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Double I had a very displeasing check-in. I was told that all three of my credit cards were declined. I expressed great concern and asked the clerk to please try another computer because I knew that my cards were all in good standing. She then with an attitude asked the other clerk to try checking me in and everything worked just fine. It was very upsettin that the first clerk kept annoucing to everyone in line checking in that my cards were declined and didn't even apologize when she realized it was a computer error. The customer service at this location was very poor. April 29, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by April Stay Aloft is a fairly nice hotel; however, the sheets on the bed did not look very fresh and clean, which was a major concern for me as a guest. The comforter and sheets were stained and looked yellow from what I'm assuming was excessive washing, with that being said, i did not sleep good at all. April 29, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by No Air Conditioning After having my room switched once because the AC didn't work, the second room's AC was also unsatisfactory. I cannot sleep without a cool room, so my night was ruined. Woke up numerous times because it was so hot. The sign said the AC was earth friendly. Maybe it's not powered adequately? Will never stay here again. April 27, 2013
