Rated 2 out of 5 by HaveMannersInNYC Bar closes way too early.
If you like to watch football and have a drink, pick another hotel. We checked in a little after 9 and went to the bar for a drink and to watch Thursday night football. The bartender finally made her way back to the bar from wherever she disappeared to and asked us for our drink order around 9:30. She mentioned she would be calling last call soon. At 9:52, she asked if we needed anything. We went to order another drink, and she said she had called last call at 9:45. She hadn't. She was talking to a patron at the end of the bar and may have said something to him, but never exclaimed last call. They closed at 10 with more than 10 customers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ShaggyMEB Pretty Good For A Quick Stopover
The wife and I recently took a trip up to Philadelphia and decided to break the trip up into two days, which necessitated a stopover one night. I've always enjoyed Aloft hotels, so we stopped off at Aloft Chesapeake since we had some points that would net us a free night.
We've stayed at other Aloft hotels before, and have stayed at this hotel once before, a few years back, so we knew what to expect. Most Alofts look largely the same from the lobby to the room design, and this one was no exception. Lots of bright lights, trendy music, the wxyz bar in the corner, and the small but adequate rooms Aloft is known for. Since we were coming in late and leaving early, we pretty much went straight to the room and straight to bed without exploring the local area, but it appears to be a business park and shopping area, as there were dozens of mid-range hotels around us and lots of chain restaurants as well.
As far as the room, it was adequate, with a couple of minor annoyances. Several of the television channels didn't come through, so viewing options were limited, and the A/C in the room didn't seem to be functioning properly, so I couldn't get the room as cool as I like it for sleeping. However, it was clean and well stocked, so for the 12 hours or so that we were there, it was fine. We also had limited interaction with the staff here, but our interactions were pleasant and our requests were addressed promptly.
For a quick stopover, this is a good spot. Also, I think in large part because of its location, the nightly rates for this hotel are much lower than the other Aloft properties I've stayed in, which allows you to get the Aloft experience on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EATIETIF Happy Stay and Pet Friendly Too!
Had a great time. First time to the area and found hotel and area very pet friendly. We have two larger dogs and Aloft was very accepting! Already plan another visit to the area and stay at the ALOFT Chesapeake. Will look for other ALOFT hotels to visit.

. The Hotel was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. Sarah at the front desk was very helpful in getting an issue with my room resolved. Sarah listen to my issue and offered a solution right away. She has excellent customer service skills. I would definitely stay at this hotel again

My wife and I stayed here with our dog while visiting family. Normally we would have stayed in a location that is closer to our actual destination but it was booked. The folks handling reservations said we might try the Aloft as the pet policy was similar and it was a partner hotel. We agreed and booked with Aloft. While I appreciate the favorable pet policy the theme of Aloft was not what we were looking for. The lobby was overly loud and seemed more like a cheesy club with loud party music. The room was some strange attempt at being modern with a sliding barn like door to the bath room. The room also didn’t seem as clean as one might expect. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you have no other choices.

I normally stay at Westin but was pleasantly surprised at how nice my Aloft experience turned out. I would absolutely stay here again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by rneb2012 Nothing Special
So I read several reviews before choosing this place (majority negative). However it was a great deal, $75. Now I see why. I stayed this past weekend. The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are definitely lacking. They are set up like a dorm room. Desk on each side with the window. No microwave, only mini-fridge. Had several issues with internet connection going in and out and "engineer" had to fix it. Room could have been cleaner. Dust everywhere. Looks like it had been a month or more before anyone else had been there. Poor tv quality. Shower door is awkward and results in lots of water on floor.
Morning front desk was awesome. The lady there at 3p-11p was not, she was busy talking to her friends and eating at the desk. Lots of kids in the lobby and fitness room at all hours. Highly inappropriate with the bar right in the lobby. Would have been better if there was a game room for the children. I could go on and on, but you get the jest and that's the meat of it. Not going back. So many options in that area to have to put up with that.
