The room was small, but space was used very effectively. I especially liked the way they let natural light into the washroom. The concierge, Claudio, was very helpful and suggested many restaurants and bars for us to check out. He was very friendly and made quite an impression on us.
I thought the free parking for hybrids is a great idea too, even though many non-hybrid cars took over the reserved parking area.

I've stayed here many times over the years, however staying here once or a bunch of times makes no difference to your experience. Everything is always the same. Which is not a bad thing, in this case.
To all the Platinum guests I want to say expect nothing from any Alofts, this being no exception. There is no free anything (other than internet) and the hotel only has rooms so no suite upgrades either. Also, you only get 250 SPG bonus points at check-in. If you can get over these things, then you'll have a clean ROOM at a decent price (sometimes) and a friendly staff with a nice little lobby with a cool bar and a pool table too!
Also it's a 5 minute bus ride from the Airport which is good and bad (noise) but once you are in your room you can barely hear it with the TV on! :)
So, stay here if you are either in town for a night or don't want to spend too much money. However you are a 20 minute drive from downtown via highway. So if you plan on taxing anywhere, it will cost you.
This hotel meets the category 3 expectations.

I stayed at this hotel twice in one week and feel less than satisfied with both my stays. I have stayed at Alofts in the past so I had a reasonable idea of what to expect when I reserved this hotel. The first room I stayed in had 2 wireless phones that did not work. It was impossible to call to set a wake-up call and calls to my room could not be answered. Also, I am annoyed when the thermostat is set in Fahrenheit- we are in Canada, metric is the standard...but more to the point, the heater in both rooms could not warm the room adequately. I felt uncomfortable in both rooms I stayed.
Also, would it hurt to provide two bars of soap instead of one? One for the shower and one for the sink? The other thing I would suggest is to properly seal the glass door in the shower. Every time I took a shower there was a huge puddle of water on the bathroom floor. Yes, I had a towel on the floor but it's a real annoyance to walk into the floor afterwards wearing socks and have wet feet.
I am a platinum member with SPG and have been for the last 7 years. I like Starwood properties because they get the little things right- but this Aloft property really missed the mark.

Imagine the show Cheers, where everybody knows your name. This place makes you feel like you never left home.
I just love this place. The word no is not in anybody's vocabulary. From the Manager "Andrea" to Front desk "Dara" big Kudos to everyone. When I come to Montreal this is my choice Hotel even if they have no suites to accommodate Gold and Plat members! It's all about Service, 2 thumbs up!!

My sisters and I recently stayed at this hotel and had a negative experience with the Front Desk staff. Not only were they rude, but the girl checking us in was not focused on us but was talking with the clients that she had just checked in. This resulted in her making mistakes with the credit card (she did not enter it properly numerous times - resulting in us needing to use a different one - the card worked not 10 minutes later when we purchased snacks). They also proceeded to charge us for parking when we took the shuttle to and from the airport. I am a travel agent in Ottawa and have a problem refering this hotel to my clients.

We arrived and were greeted with attitude and given the feeling we were disturbing the lady at the counter. We were told the restaurant was closed, there was no room service and we had to go across to the sheraton to eat, and when we did it was closed. The room provided was average, not what was advertised when I made the reservation. The coffee machine was broken, and we were told they would "check it". In the meantime the coffee in the lobby was 2.50$ a pop. Hopefully that coffee machine is not charged on my credit card! Anyways, with the ammount of hotels available, its surprising that people would want to go back there.

The location is great for the traveller, the reception is somewhat informal, but it seems to work, the room was modern and well decorated,at first look it was very eye pleasing and well laid out . internet access was good, and allowed me to prepare for my business meeting.
however the furnace(Heater AC) unit was extremelly noisy, so much so that it would be louder than the TV; trying to sleep was a challenge, the noise of the heater fan, the phone system kept beeping like an alarm unit almost every 40 min. i believe that i only got less than 4 hrs of uninterrupted sleep; not my ideal situation just before an important morning meeting.Overall the room needs improvement
