Rated 1 out of 5 by Frequentbiztravel200 No service mindset!
Average contemporary styled hotel with no attention to service... Unprofessional staff who apparently learn this from their hotel management.
2nd nt of 4 nt planned stay... No hot water in morning... Front desk said they were aware but offered no solution and even said they tried calling the general manage but his response was he doesn't start work until 930am....
When a hotel has a hotel wide issue like no hot water... I would expect management to be overly considerate and more so available to mitigate concerns... None of this occurred... I have checked out and gone elsewhere and will not return for future trips!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Erin818 Location was GREAT....but a few other flaws
I will say this hotel has a great location. In my room my heater was extremely loud so i only turned it on high when I left my room. When i plugged my refrigerator in it was loud as well. The first night I did without it but the 2nd day i purchased some items from the store that needed refrigerated so I had to plug it back in. Left it on all night only to find out that it still was not working so my food went bad which was disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad27 NEVER AGAIN!
So I checked in after a long flight to a club in the lobby. The rap music was so loud I could barley talk to get my room. Checked in and the room was dirty. I waited till the next day. I stayed three days and the room was never cleaned. I could never get ahold of anyone at the desk as the phone was always busy. I asked for clean sheets. Maint dropped off clean sheets and I cleaned my own room. Dogs on 3rd floortried to bite my daugher and the pool was filled with men fighting. Very bad experiance

Rated 3 out of 5 by Firesong68 Room was great; service, not so much
I stayed at the Aloft Arundel Mills thanks to a promotion offered by my company. When we arrived - I was traveling with my elderly, walker-dependent mother - I found that despite requesting a handicapped-accessible room (several times; redeeming this promotional stay was not easy), we had been placed in a regular room. Fortunately, the front desk staff fixed it right away. The room was clean and spacious, and the bathroom and shower were easy for my mother to use - Aloft definitely gets high marks for that. I liked the dispensers in the shower, although Mom thought they should have been closer to the shower bench. The shower curtain fell about eight inches short of the floor, though, so no matter how careful we were in the shower the floor always got wet. The desk and chair seemed to have been designed for someone much taller than either of us were - the desk was high and the chair low - so trying to work at it was uncomfortable. The beds were nice. We didn't go to the bar and only ate downstairs on the morning we left, which wasn't the best experience; while the food was fine and the seating comfortable, the lobby was very noisy thanks to the sports station being pumped over the speakers at high volume (you couldn't even get away from it in the bathroom!).
The main problems we had stemmed from the service. The first night was fine - we left our breakfast request card on the door and it was ready for pickup the next morning. I had to request a card for the next night because one was never given to us; when I left the room that morning, the card with our order was still hanging on the door, so we had the buffet instead. The desk clerk gave us complimentary bottles of orange juice to apologize for the mixup, which was nice. We never got a card for Night 3. The phone in the room didn't work, so after an attempt to fix it the maintenance man brought us another phone - which turned out to be the phone for another room, so we basically had no working phone for the duration of our stay. And while we opted not to have the linens or towels changed - the "Green Choice" - nobody mentioned that that involved not having the trash emptied as well. We had to ask someone to come get the trash on our first day, and while a housekeeper came by on the second and Mom asked that the trash be emptied, it was never done.
Overall? Aloft Arundel Mills is a nice hotel, but I don't think it will be my hotel of choice the next time I travel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Todd21222 Is customer service really dead?
The fact that only 40%, FORTY percent of people who stayed here recommended the hotel should've been an indicator enough, we still gave Aloft a try. Then, we get to the hotel. 3 people acted like they were too busy to help us when all they were doing was standing around.
Finally we get to the room. The bathroom door track is half out of the ceiling, stains on the walls, remote for the tv doesn't work, batting 1000 so far. We went down to ask for another room, you might have thought we asked for a new kidney, but we got a new room. The new room took the cake. Nails sticking out of the wood in 2 spots, jagged frayed wood sticking out, holes from curtain mounts on the wall, severe wall discoloration by the desk, bathroom door wouldn't shut AGAIN, just ridiculous for a hotel of this price.
The elevators appearantly user to have color changing tiles on the floor. They were either worn or completely missing.
They provide video cables, which is a nice service, but when I went down to get one, the front desk was VERY reluctant to give me one. She stated they had been just giving them away but would not give me one until I assured her I would bring it back, like i'm a common thief.
The last straw was that when all of this was brought to SPG's attention, and they had denied our claim for a rate discount, they were very unsympathetic to our situation. They did nothing to attempt to resolve the issues we brought to their attention, basically giving us a templated "sorry, try us again" response.
We were waiting to post our review until their "customer service" got back to us, but it's pretty obvious they frankly could care less about the customer. So go somewhere else, skip Aloft Arundel Mills.

My birthday was on December 9th. I booked a room for December 8th. I was looking to have a great time for my birthday. I have never been to Aloft before that day. when I walked through the door there was music, dancing, open bar. The party was right at the hotel. I could have stayed int he hotel and celebrated my birthday if I wanted to. I did go out to have a good time but alos made sure I stopped by the WXYZ bar before hand. It felt like a party right at the bar. Not only was I impressed, the people who I brought with me were impressed. It made me feel good to know that I made impression on my friends. We made the best of the night. Not only did I enjoy myself, we all enjoyed!!!! I would recommend Aloft to anyone! My friends are already planning events at the very same hotel. Thanks for everything!!! You will see me again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Aller3 Horrible Night & Rude Staff
We booked several rooms for a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event on 10/14/12. A party was scheduled in their atrium / lobby area that last ALL night. When we called the front desk at 3:00am to complain about the noise level (please note I was on the 7th floor), the response was... "What do you want me to do, they are paying customers?" Hmmm, thought we were also paying customers? We started to check out at 6:00am, only to find NOTHING for breakfast, because the staff member called out sick. They offered NOTHING for local places to grab coffee and/or breakfast. UNPROFESSIONAL!
