Rated 2 out of 5 by Bad experience Luckily I was only there for one night but when I got to my room I found hairs on the shower fixtures, pillows, and sink. The in room safe did not work and kept giving me and error message and the floor in the bathroom looked very dirty. Unfortunately this was the only star woods hotel in the area but I will definitely be staying at another hotel chain next week when I return. July 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fun for one night There were a lot of things to like about this hotel, such as the modern vibe, playful decor and good size rooms. But the loose faucets, peeling wallpaper and general cheap construction was a distraction. Great location. June 30, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by 2nd stay not impressed The staff at this location was awesome, very friendly and accommodating. I had a few issues that I think needs attention - The Air Conditioning was not working right in my room I like to keep the room really cool when sleeping and I was not able to get the temperature to drop. I adjusted the thermostat and tested every option. I called the front desk to see if there is anything they asked if I wanted to move but being in the middle of the night needing to wake up early I decided to suck it up. I ended up not sleeping well through out the night. Secondly, water temperature in the shower doesn't stay consistent it is always going up and down. I found my self constantly adjusting the water temperature. June 26, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by My recent stay I am sorry, not the first time I stay and not the first time this happens: I could hear the room next door clearly, I could understand the conversation and they wer not loud...walls are supper thin, doors slamm too hard, water tempeture would change without me touching the faucet. Not good at all. Staff is really nice, shame that the hotel have these issues. I have been a fan of Aloft and have used it in Houston, Boston and many times in Richmond. sorry. needs imp. Rated 2 out of 5 by Weird. Just Weird. The neon in the hallways, the decor of the rooms..all very strange. The front desk people "hanging out" with guests outside of the desk instead of helping people. The rooms are strangely laid out and weren't the cleanest. The whole place has a weird vibe. Rated 1 out of 5 by the most horrible hotel ever and they don't care 1. fresh blood on the sheet 2. dust all over the room 3. sink was broken 4. a box of condom under my bed 5. pillow smelled like saliva 6. shower only has either super hot water or cold water So obviously they didn't change the bedding from previous customer, and did minimal cleaning without dusting or checking corners for trash. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice modern hotel I have been dying to stay at an A Loft and recently had the chance. I wish I could have stayed longer (only stayed one night) to check out some of the hotel features. I had a room with a king bed, I do think the rooms were a bit small and would recommend a bigger room for a longer stay. June 3, 2014

Rated 2 out of 5 by Walls TOOO Thin Unfortunately the Aloft did not meet my expectations. I thought the rooms were quite small. The worse part of it all was the walls were so thin, you could hear EVERYTHING going on in the next door room. When people were having conversations, you could hear every word as if they were in the same room with you. May 26, 2014

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad night Horrible night. Woke to a random beeping noise at 3 am. Took until 4 to determine it came from the desk phone. When I mentioned it at check out the staff said "it's the batteries in the phone,, it does that when they get low". I won't be coming back. I would have slept better in my car. May 21, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by nice Hotel, Terrible Beds Overall, this hotel is exactly what you'd expect from an Aloft... except for the beds! The bed and linens were terrible - most definitely not what I've come to expect from Aloft hotels and Starwoods properties. I always enjoy the fluffy duvet, nice pillows, soft sheets, and comfortable mattresses. This Aloft, however, had a lumpy duvet, flat pillows, scratchy sheets, and a mattress that was harder than a rock. We didn't get a good night's rest and woke up with backaches. Otherwise, the hotel was lovely and well-situated near shopping and dining. Just be warned about the beds! April 28, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disgusting The duvets were not washed and if they were then appearance must not be a priority. Both I and a colleague of mine had what appeared to be blood and food stains on our duvets and my pillowcases had holes in them. TC and Catherine were very pleasant and accommodating when we contacted them about the matter. Catherine offered to have housekeeping to wash and replace them once they got in which would be about a 2 hour process which we appreciated, however, we still find it unsettling that this wasn't done prior to our arrival. My colleague checked out of her room and ended up bunking in the other bed in my room. It's extremely disappointing to have such a beautiful and modern hotel in such a great location with such disgusting practices. I work in a field in which hundreds if not thousands of college counselors will come through your area at any given time during the fall or spring and we rely on one another for hotel and restaurant referrals and Aloft-Richmond West will not be somewhere that I would refer and would in fact encourage them to cancel their reservations if asked. Rated 5 out of 5 by A few minor issues Out of ice cream in the pantry. Noise at 230am in the hall. A beeping noise in the phone waked me up during the night. The seat in the dumbell bench was loose. Otherwise, fitness room was in great shape. Good internet connection. Close to WholeFoods and restaurants. April 26, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by No Soundproofing This is the second Aloft I have been in this week that literally must have no sound proofing material between the rooms. We could easily hear every detail of someone coughing or talking on the phone in the next room. And we are not young people with rabbit ears but retirees with somewhat diminished hearing. It all reminds me of the Four Points properties which I will not stay at - and given their overall condition not many others will as well. Too bad - great concept, selling the coolness etc. Have stayed at them for several years - maybe not so much in the future. April 23, 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Location to Food - Not Well Maintained This hotel is very close to food and shopping. My disappointment is that the hotel is not well maintained and is somewhat dirty. All the window ledges have dirt as well as every corner of the room. They have a pool table in the lobby but all the sticks are broken. The gym is nice. The pool was closed due to maintenance. For the money this was disappointing. April 12, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Always Fantastic My husband, mother and I stay here two to three times a year. We love the rooms, always clean and meets our needs for an extended weekend. The staff remembers us every time we check in. My mom walks with a cane and is blind in one eye so sometimes she may need added help and the staff always go above and beyond. We use this hotel for the NASCAR Races held in Richmond and my mom comes along for a relaxing time the staff has walked her to the pool and back to the room and has even brought her breakfast as she is afraid to do it on her own. They also check on her throughout the day with out anyone having to ask or request this service. When travel or spending anytime in Richmond we will always use this hotel as they make us feel like family. April 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Love the Aloft This One Needs TLC The Aloft rooms are the same everywhere which I like. The Richmond hotel needs some TLC when it comes to overall room cleanliness. My displeasure was centered around the carpet. It was quite dirty and in need of cleaning. Other than that, the room was fine. April 1, 2014
