Rated 2 out of 5 by Just plain gross When arriving at the hotel at about 11pm on April 17th (after 9 hours of travelling from coast to coast), my mother, sister and I were given a key card to a room on the 4th floor. We carried our luggage to the room and, upon opening the door, and were met with a stripped bed that was pushed off of the platform and a pile of dirty sheets, pillow cases, etc. on the bench below the TV. While standing in the doorway the electronic entry mechanism literally fell off of the door. I took photos of the room and we all returned to the front desk. The Aloft employee was very gracious and apologetic. He assigned us another room, this time on the 5th floor. When we entered the room on the 5th floor we immediately noticed large white streaks of something on several of the wall, a refrigerator that was falling off of its platform, dirty mirrors over the vanity and remnants of party streamers on the ceiling and walls. Again, I took pictures and returned to the front desk (asking my mother to stay behind until I cold sort things out because it is difficult for her to walk long distances). And, again, the front desk person was very professional and extremely embarrassed when I showed him the photos. He said there was one room left and that he would check it out before assigning it to us…which he did. It was just about midnight when we finally got into the 3rd room (this time on the 1st floor). The 3rd room was fine, although a little more “beat up” than the other Aloft hotels I have stayed in. I had been excited to show my family the hotel because of my previous experiences…I don’t know that I could convince them to give it another try after this experience. It was really disappointing (actually unacceptable) and that’s why I am writing you now. I paid $$$ to play a ridiculous night of room roulette. When I stay in a hotel I don't want to think of what was done in the rooms before I get there. I want to feel like they are clean/fresh. This was not the experience I had and it is truly unfortunate. Rated 5 out of 5 by Tucked Away Retreat! Our stay here was only a few days,prior to taking a flight out of Dulles Internantional Airport. However, this location offered ALL that we could have hoped for and so much more!!! Beautiful decor throughout the entire building and in the room, indoor gym, pool, comfortable lounges both indoors and out, etc. However, the best part is that the staff is so friendly and welcoming! The computers they have are not the best, but they do just fine for printing tickets or quick jobs. (Most travelers bring their own laptops and the WiFi signal there was strong enough to accommodate guests.) February 4, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Avoid this hotel. Many other SPG choices in area. I have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times now and its just not that good. It is typically fairly low cost and convenient to a work site for me but I have decided those factors aren't enough to ever stay here again. The hotel is tired and worn down. All of the rooms I have stayed in were dirty. Not like the maid didn't clean them. Like they haven't ever been deep cleaned. Just dingy tile and carpet. The breakfast area this latest time had a very limited selection as well. Some items were crossed off the order list and some others were not available but not crossed off. SPG in general is great. Aloft is usually great as well. Just avoid this one. January 4, 2016

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bare Minimum I was in town for a business meeting and needed a hotel for a couple days so I settled on this Aloft next to the airport. I don't know if I'm spoiled from the other SPG W resorts or the other Aloft hotels I've stayed at but this one just failed to impress me. The walls are thin so you hear a lot of noise from other guests. What really made me frustrated was the lackluster effort that was put into the room being cleaned. There were still pillows on the floor and the bed was sloppily made up. All in all it was ok, nothing special about it. November 23, 2015
