Great hotel - clean rooms, nice area, good food!
BUT never have I been to a hotel with the service of this hotel.
I left my IPAD in my room and traveled home (Boston). Didnt realize until 2 days afterwards.
Called the hotel and to my HUGE surprise, they had my IPAD. WOW,
Then the staff worked with me promptly to ship it back to me in 1 day. 1 DAY! wow.
Thank you ALOFT Homewood. Best experience with a hotel in a long time.

This hotel is in a good location. The common areas were dirty and the staff in the xyz or whatever where you can buy sundries rude. The rooms are not comfortable at all. Hard beds, loud air conditioner, bad lighting, the switch for the over the bed lights are only on one side and on the same switch. Who came up with that? There is one desk chair and that is it. I couldn't find one piece of paper or any information on the hotel in the room. The front desk was fine but not really pleasant. I think they missed the mark on chic and stylish. It's more like cheap and uncomfortable. Not to mention overpriced. I would not recommend

I travel quite a bit for my job. This particular stay was quite unpleasant as I was put next to the elevator. The elevator itself was so loud and I was very sick that night. When I called to finally ask for some ear plugs or something to help, I was told the hotel did not have any ear plugs and that was all they could do. No offer to switch rooms. I was very sick all night and did not get much sleep for an early morning conference. This is a dissapointment as I know that the hotel is suppose to have high standards but even when I check out and said I had a terrible stay, the person working the front desk just said sorry.

The hotel staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well planned for the space, but a little too small for my comfort. The main problem I had and the reason I will probably not stay again is the bed. It really rated up there with one of the most uncomfortable beds I had ever tried to sleep on. It was VERY hard and the pillows were most uncomfortable too.

While Amanda (the front desk person) and Ray (the service guy) were wonderfully attentive, the room and general condition of the facility was disappointing. In the advertising, it states to "leave your charging devices at home...they have a central station that would charge every type of electronic device". When we got in the room, it turned out that it was a unit that your chargers plugged in. Good thing we actually did bring ONE charger. The walls in the 5th floor hallway were scratched all along where the people had run their luggage and needed repair. Our room had both the safe & coffee pot broken and needed repair. The room had a view of the police station/jail. No I will not be staying there again.

I stayed in an Aloft in Richmond, Va back when it was new and it was clean and comfortable. This trip was to Birmingham, Al and I thought I would have the same experience, but the hotel there was not very clean. My room had stains all over the carpet, the bathroom was clean-ish, but not clean. I had dirt on the sink and the tile had some soap scum in the shower and there were water spots (pee???) near the toilet. I had to wipe off the television as the cleaning staff had smeared it. I did use the work out facility and it was absent of towels and the lobby tables were filthy.

Fairly decent stay with only a few complaints:
-Refrigerator didn't work and it took an entire day to get it fixed, which caused some of our food to go bad
-Didn't enjoy having my three nights on three separate reservations, which meant every morning we got an early morning knock on the door asking when we'd check out and we had to reactivate our keys every day
-I've received no less than 10 emails in the week since my stay (and three emails in the days leading up to my stay) asking me for surveys, special deals, and other items. Email overload is not something I was expecting.

This hotel is a cut above, especially for the price. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable and also very young. We loved the modern decor and cleanliness. We really enjoyed the bar as well as the other amenities. 5 Star stay for us, all the way!

I stayed in the Homewood location for 3 nights. I was attending a wedding in town. I grew up maybe 6 blocks from the hotel. It was great! The area was great! The staff very nice. We had one hick up with hot water on Saturday afternoon. The hotel was quick to make amends. Housekeeping could use a boost. They would forget to finish - left pillows out of the cases the first night and didn't replace coffee. I figured inexperience and it can be corrected. My pup loved it too. We were both comfortable and safe at any time of day we were coming and going. Will be back.

Room was nice but top sheet was on top of comforter which made me wonder if comforter is washed after each guest?? Our hot water was off each day and I had to call and tell them and in about 10 minutes, we would have hot water. Our coffee pot filled the cup about 1/3 full and then the rest ran out from somewhere onto the tray. I Love the location of the hotel and its convenience to so many things.

Our very favorite hotel in the area. It's an hour's drive outside of our final destination for visiting the area, and we're happy to drive it to get there. Staff is so welcoming to our little four-legged baby boy. Amenities are concentrated in all the right areas. LOVE the huge shower. Only one problem: TVs at the XYZ bar are too small to enjoy. And the 4 larger TVs on the opposite wall which would do well enough are put together as one screen and whatever you're watching is broken into 4 slices - really hate that effect - only good for music videos. During game season those TVs should be separated so they can be enjoyed. But that didn't ruin our stay, though - just meant we had to stay in our room to be able to enjoy watching football.

Immediately we recognized a modern, fresh, colorfully creative atmosphere that was welcoming and alive. Check-in and out was flawless. We especially liked the option for no maid service in exchange for a $5 voucher to be redeemed for food or beverage items. The room layout was very cool with tons of electronic hookups. The only blip came at bedtime when the noise level in hallways and next door kept us awake for hours. A sound machine would be a welcome addition to this otherwise super chic accommodation.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. This, plus the nice room, are the major upsides of the hotel. The bar and lounge are nice as well.
The biggest downside for me was that when I got on the elevator to go to my room around 11pm there was vomit all over the inside. I alerted the front desk. Unfortunately when I used the same elevator to come down the next morning it still smelled of vomit and you could see streaks on the hastily cleaned panels.
Other minor downside - no shuttle to or from the airport. Costs about $20 for a cab.

Closet space and lack of drawers make it difficult to unpack anything. Lighting at wash basin is directly overhead, making for terrible utility. No room service at all. Parking was awful. Several nights of my 4 night stay, despite valet service, I had to drive around to find a place to park because no one was available in the front to take my car, so I moved on rather than blocking traffic behind me. I wound up parking several blocks away. Staff at desk were reluctant to offer anything but an apology for the dreadful parking situation until I persisted. I would probably stay some place else but, this is where my company books when I travel. Adult films in room cater only to straight clientele. If you are gay, you are out of luck for this kind of entertainment.

The hotel is a little too cold and contemporary for my taste. The location is great and walking distance to restaurants, etc. Rooms are not comfortable.

Typically this hotel is very good, however, on my last stay, I arrived to find the front desk unstaffed and had to wait to check in. The coffee maker in the room did not work and the shower drain backed up significantly in the morning. Those little things make the business trip just a little more annoying!

I highly recommend the A Lof hotel in Homewood AL. The hotel is modern, clean and beautiful and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The front desk receptionist remembered our names and greeted us as we walked in the door and only stayed 1 night! Late check out was not a problem as well whcih was nice because I had a late flight out. The Homewood area it is located in is great as well! Walking distance to shops and resturants !

I checked into hotel at 3:00. The room wasn't ready. I indicated that I had a 4:00 meeting and needed to get into a room to change and get ready. I didn't get into my room until 3:40. Turns out the delay was associated with a gift basket being transferred into my room.
Was not happy at all. Was very late to meeting due to a transfer of my gift basket . I understand when a room isn't ready, but this reason was unacceptable. Have stayed at this hotel in the past and never had a similar issue

We have stayed at Aloft many times and we have always been pleased, however, the cleanliness was lacking during our previous stay. The floors eveywhere, hallways, elevators, etc., were dirty and looked as though they had not been vacuumed for days. We had glasses outside our door when we checked in that remained camped outside our door until we departed the next morning. Aloft is a good hotel but attention to detail needs to be worked on. Beds were comfortable. Also only two or 3 HD channels available.

I'm never disappointed when I stay at Aloft. This time I was in Birmingham for one night and was thrilled that BSC recommended Aloft as the best place to stay with easy access to their campus and the airport. Took a great walk in the residential neighborhood nearby the evening I arrived. Plenty of places to eat just a half block away. I wish the room came with an ironing board however - my only disappointment!

Great place to stay for something a little different and fun. Definitely would stay there again. Only negatives are that many of the furnishings and common area floors look worn and/or dirty. Room was not worn or dirty. Check in and night life was fun and friendly. Morning coffee/check-out crowd must have been hungover...not friendly or helpful. Am there were lots of cleaning people milling about but coffee station and breakfast area were unattended, as was front desk.

Darn! this hotel has such a great location. But my stay just wasn't what I would hope for... We had to change rooms twice for various reasons (barking dogs, roof-top air conditioning), MANY broken things in the final room, inadequate housekeeping in the hotel in general. The good news is that the staff was very responsive and polite. It just seems a shame that this hotel is so new, but so run down and poorly maintained. I really wanted to love it!

I don't have anything negative to say about my experience. From the check in staff, to the breakfast bar, to the evening bar, to the work out room, this hotel was a delight.
I especially liked that things like ear buds in the work out room, and cables for media devices were available at the front desk.
This hotel is located in a great walkable neighborhood too.

i really enjoy staying at the Aloft in Birmingham - it's always been a pleasurable experience. i did find, however, that the housekeeping on this trip was less attentive than usual. towels were removed from room and not replaced, coffee not replenished, etc. these things were quickly remedied when i called the front desk but the attention to detail here seems to lagging. that having been said, i'd happily stay here again and recommend it.

From the pictures online it looked nice...But I had to change rooms multiple times for various reasons and they were all disgusting. Definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, towels, house shoes (because the carpets in all the rooms I was in were gross) and plenty of sleeping aids (the beds are like rocks, didn't sleep at all during my stay). However, the staff was great and tried to do what they could to make it better.

the aloft brand is in my opinion always clean and orderly. the front desk person upgraded me to a larger room with a balcony which was nice. he did everything he could to meet my needs. i generally will stay at an aloft where available, when traveling and only staying 1 night. mostly because the beds are not comfortable. parking here is somewhat limited. other than that, this hotel stands up to any aloft out there.

The hotel is fabulous and so neat; our 5 year old thought it was the coolest place. It was so nice and love that Michaels was connected... best food!! Only complaint I have is that our water in the shower (no tub FYI in case you have little ones) took forever to get warm, never hot. My husband had the same problem. The water never got hot enough for a comfy shower and occasionally would go freezing for a second.
