Rated 1 out of 5 by BRING EARPLUGS I could not wait to leave the hotel. From the moment I arrived, there was extremely loud music blaring in all the public areas of the hotel. It NEVER stopped. It was impossible to sleep at night, as young partygoing guests roamed the halls until 3 a.m. The front desk attendant that registered me on arrival and the attendant that handled the checkout were very kind. Rated 5 out of 5 by great first Aloft experience I don't have anything negative to say about my experience. From the check in staff, to the breakfast bar, to the evening bar, to the work out room, this hotel was a delight. I especially liked that things like ear buds in the work out room, and cables for media devices were available at the front desk. This hotel is located in a great walkable neighborhood too. Rated 5 out of 5 by Gina Very comfortable rooms and friendly staff. May 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 Great for Homewood A well organized, very modern hotel. The wine is a bit over priced for the selection. The rooms are very modern and the beds are comfortable. However, just go downstairs and get coffee LOL the coffee in the room is just like anywhere else, decent brew but no condiments available to make it tasty I'd stay here again, and probably will. Rated 3 out of 5 by This hotel is very friendly It is located in a very hip trendy neighborhood. Lots of shopping and eateries. Aloft enjoys being "Green"but that includes no room cleaning or towel exchanged. May 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well thought-out, novel European-like features each of the three staff front-desk shifts were outstanding. May 19, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Very disappointed !!! Could not get into the 3rd floor ice "room" - even after another customer tried their room key - neither worked - and the pillows are TERRIBLE - flat and hard - and I couldn't find anyone to check me out the next morning !!! $5 for a very small bag of jellybeans - really ??? Gone down hill big time since I was last there !!! :( December 8, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Snowstorm and Service above and beyond ! I always stay at Aloft and is my number one choice in Birimngham. However, Elaine ,GM, and her team went above and beyond in caring for the guests during the recent snowstorm. I can't say enough about how they selflessly took care of all guests in spite of being apart from their own families. They are the best! January 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location for events in Birmingham Stayed here for the weekend of the Compass Bowl game and it turned out to be the perfect spot for easily getting around to the various events. Enjoyed exploring the SOHO Square area as well...had a great lunch at Urban Cookhouse and enjoyed shopping at the upscale consignment shop. Staff couldn't have been nicer. January 6, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not For Me This was my first time staying at Aloft and will be my last. The industrial look is not my style at all, so I never felt at ease in the hotel. The room was uncomfortably small with nowhere to sit other than the bed. And...the hardest bed I've ever slept on in my life. Felt like sleeping on a rock. January 27, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not up to par with other SPG properties I have stayed at More of a contemporary motel feel than a hotel. In room AC unit manually operated but very loud. Carpet dirty, grout in bathroom clearly stained and dirty. Trendy decor, but not user friendly. Allows pets, which is great if you have them, bad if you don't and a dog starts barking outside your door at 6:30 am! April 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Poor experience Typically this hotel is very good, however, on my last stay, I arrived to find the front desk unstaffed and had to wait to check in. The coffee maker in the room did not work and the shower drain backed up significantly in the morning. Those little things make the business trip just a little more annoying! November 7, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy environment - needs radical re-engineering! This hotel has nice upscale features but far too much ambient noise to be sleep friendly. Our room was on the top floor and was inundated by the constant white noise drone of machinery like an electrical power generator. In addition the outdoor seating for the downstairs bar echoed the conversations through our 5th floor window until the bar closed at 1:00 AM. The white noise in the bar area on the first floor was deafening during happy hour and made it almost impossible for me to hear the check in clerk at the central desk. The stark concrete design might be trendy and edgy but lacks when it comes to noise abatement and control. I was on a business trip and needed to be on call at 8:30 AM each day to make setups and sell merchandise; the lack of sleep was not helpful in the least. Your interior design staff needs to rethink the interior of the main lobby entirely to get rid of the echo chamber white noise effect and the machinery space noise on the top floor. I doubt we will darken the doors of any Aloft hotel in any corner of this planet if this is the design standard used for each hotel in this franchise. April 14, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This was different Not your typical hotel setup scene. Very modern. My only issue was that the water never got hot in the sink or in the shower. Staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. Restaurant food was good, but expensive (3 soups, 1 salad, 2 crab cakes, 1 soda - $89) February 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Overnight business stay The hotel is modern, trendy, clean and comfortable. The staff go out of their way to be sure you enjoy your stay. The only suggestion I would make is that there be a comfortable chair to read or watch TV in the room. I had a reasonably priced breakfast with healhthy choices. January 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Only Place to Stay Aloft is an attractive, clean and comfortable hotel at an affordable price. Every detail of the hotel and room was visually pleasing. The staff was super helpful too. It's the only place I will stay the next time I'm in Birmingham. February 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff was amazing! The ONLY negative comment I could make was the cleanliness of the Hotel. The outside sitting area was no cleaned the whole time I was there and the gueestroom hallways looked liked they had not been touched in weeks. Besides that everything else was great! Rated 5 out of 5 by Oasis After driving hundreds of miles, I settled in at the Aloft Birmingham. It is easy to access from the Interstate and has onsite parking. Friendly staff, great design. Bar and restaurant inside the building. Will stay here anytime I am near Birmingham. July 29, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by B-ham close to Summit in Soho! Great hotel, modern and clean!!! Loved the location and the accessibility. Very cool, but not too cool for us regular folk! April 13, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by A good hotel at a good price The Aloft has become the new place to stay for many of my collegues. The area is convienient to food and drinks. The free wifi is crucial. Beds are comfortable and shades keep out the city lights. The Michaels next door was excellent. lovely stay. April 5, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by everything was good except bed. My bed had hair in it..and a stain underneath the comforter..pretty gross that housekeeping didnt change or clean bedding. There is no way they could not have seen stain..and they obviously decided to ignore it amd make bed anyways...gross! September 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel and Excellent Staff My arrival, check in and stay were wonderful. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Cant wait to return! April 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfortable Room and Modern Features If you are looking for a comfortable room with a modern look, Aloft is the place to stay. The only drawback was that I could here the music downstairs at times, but over all it was a great location and a wonderful stay! September 23, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Overall Stay My stay was average and not quite what I expected. I could hear everything going on in the hallway, the sheet didn't fit and kept popping off during the night. Maybe ok for 1 night but not made for multiple nights. August 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Home Away From Home The Aloft Hotel is truly an A1 hotel !!!! I was thoroughly impressed with the ambiance and staff !!!! The stay was truly a pleasureable experience ... I can't wait to be back in the Bham area to stay again ..... February 11, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfortable hotel! I was really impressed with the staff. Very nice and helpful. The beds and pillows were super comfortable. March 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by kBirmingham Your beds have become some of the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. April 6, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great location This hotel is in a great location but is very poorly run. April 10, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Room smelled When we first got into the room it smelled of vomit near the bathroom. We asked for some type of air freshener from the front desk and they sent house keeping right away. That took care of the smell. May 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect location My husband and I always stay here when in Birmingham. The location is convenient to everything! Short drive to downtown or walk to fabulous sushi. The amenities are perfect as well. Recommend!! July 23, 2013
