Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel. Friendly Staff. Slept like a baby! I checked in early at about 9 am and no rooms were available so about 11 am while at the conference I received a personal phone call that my room was ready and my bags were stored for safe-keeping. When I came back for lunch time I was blown away how amazing the room was. For checking in 6 hours early this hotel's staff went above and beyond! Definitely ask for the river view if available. Made a "just-ok" morning really great! The lounge area was very hip and very happening. If you're into modern, sleek, and younger professional crowd then this lounge would be a good fit. Pool table was a great addition! I was exhausted from work so I did not get a chance to hit the fitness facility/pool but will definitely check it out next time I stay there! December 12, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Left much to be desired None of the staff had a clue about anything locally. We asked about a restaurant on the water, and we were told to go to three places not only NOT on the water, but they were farther away than the hotel itself. Then one of the staff was overhead cursing by several guests which was quite unsavory. They also seemed so put out by any requests. Additionally, we were part of a wedding party, and the hotel failed to give ANYONE their welcome bags the groom had specifically worked out with the manager to deliver when the guests checked in. Rated 5 out of 5 by First Stay Although I have frequented the XXYZ bar several times, this was the first time I have ever stayed overnight at the hotel. The room was functional and had plenty of room for all my electronics and my photography gear. I want to personally thank Marvin and Nate the Bartender for going above and beyond my expectations in my first stay. February 25, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too Pricey for the Amenities I have stayed at many SPG hotels and was grossly disappointed with this hotel in the heart of beautiful national harbor maryland. The noise levels in the lobby, The traffic throughout the hotel and lobby, the cleanliness of the halls and common areas (or lack thereof) was unsettling in a hotel with such potential for excellence. The decor of the hotel and rooms is very nice so the entire staff needs to "buy into" that presentation and take this hotel to a higher level of excellence. Needs work. I would not stay here again... Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff was Amazing! When I first walked into the hotel I knew it wasn't going to be my cup of tea. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient. The first thing we encountered was that the chlorine levels in the pool made it intolerable to swim. It burned your eyes standing outside the door to the pool. Next we had an issue with the shower only having really cold or scalding water. The staff got engineering there quickly and got it fixed within a couple of hours. The biggest thing for me was the in room bathroom. The door had to be slid open and shut and ours wouldn't close all the way and was very heavy. When you are a family with kids this isn't a great option. It also didn't have a bathtub which was a pain because my younger one hates showers. February 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT Hotel & Staff Hotel is clean, well located and the staff bends over backwards to accomodate. February 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Hotel I've stayed here twice and the first time was excellent. I have a few issues the second stay with a broken thermostat in my room and a bathroom door that would not stay closed, but the front desk quickly switched me to another room so all was well. Decent pricing, room is contemporary, clean, and overall comfortable. The bar in the lobby is a nice touch. Would stay here again. February 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing I had an amazing stay at your hotel last night. Keyri Sierra did an amazing job at meeting and exceeding my expectations, she went out of her way to make sure I had a great stay. She is very good at her job and I want give her some recognition. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and I loved the room. I will recommend this hotel to all of my friends. February 21, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vibrant simplicity (The conference center was nearby, not on-site.) Aloft definitely made an impression on me. Most hotels to me are just a bed, a closet, a desk and a chair. Aloft (National Harbor, DC/MD) has a theme of clean, colorful straight lines and simplicity. The 6th floor room I had looked out at the Wilson Bridge and into Alexandria. (A room on a lower floor or facing the opposite direction might not have been able to see the water.) The staff was very helpful with any concern that I had (e.g. a lamp was replaced the day it was reported, with an immediate offer of an alternative room). The off-season price was competitive. I will definitely take note on future trips to see whether an Aloft is in the area. January 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great decor but something's missing..... I booked this suite for my bday celebration. When I did a walk through of the room, I was pleased. Loved the decor! But then I realized, the room didnt have a microwave, like most hotels. My guest were unable to smoke on the personal patio/balcony because they said its still apart of the room and the room was smoke-free. Which to me, defeats the purpose of having a balcony. Overall, the experience was good but not great. January 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Place to Stay in the Island of National Harbor I am not a fan of National Harbor. If I have to stay there, then this is place. Very hip, cool and different. Every single staff member was wonderful. February 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Location was awesome We stayed 2 nights and reserved 3 rooms for our family. The staff was very professional and greeted us by name every time we returned to the hotel. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Everything was in walking distance, so once we parked our car in the garage we never needed to move it until check out. Very convenient check in and late check out was just what we needed. Would definitely stay again. June 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Service I had a great stay. The rooms are functional and very comfortable and the was excellent. February 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well located, great experience! The aloft National Harbor sits right at the center of the restaurant, retail and bar activity with views of the Potmac River. The hotel is a fresh experience from the standard hotel fare I usually get. The lobby is fun, large and offers something for everyone. I particularly like the outdoor deck overlooking the river and bridge, which is lit up at night. September 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by SO WORTH IT AND MORE!!!!! This hotel was so worth it and more. The location location location was amazing! All you need in walking distance, hotel clean, guest services professional and consistent. We were greeted everytime with a smile and a "welcome back". I must say that I was very pleased. Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel was perfect This hotel was exactly what we expected. I went on June to celebrate my first anniversary and the service, staff rooms. everything was great. I didn’t like the reception...... it was kind of messy for such of beautiful hotel. July 26, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicest staff The staff at this hotel was the nicest of any hotel I've ever been too. The room was beautiful. This by far one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at. I definetely recommend this hotel. August 3, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful experience all around This is a hotel for students or young people, not business travelers. The rug in my room was filthy. The ironing board and iron were "miniature" and my shirts fell on the gross carpet while trying to iron. The downstairs bar stopped serving food before 8pm even though I told the bartender 15 minutes earlier that I wanted to order food, he didn't think he should tell me it closing. Finally, I was told that my room was pre-paid upon check-in and check-out but 2 weeks later I was charged for it with no notification from the hotel . And I had to spend a long time on the phone with them to get this answer, very frustrating. I will never stay here again. October 29, 2013

Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Impressed With The Improvements.... I have stayed at the Aloft on many occasions due to our corporate account. I however would've preferred another on-site hotel due to issues with previous stays, and had no intentions of promoting the hotel to friends, families or business associates. I'm elated to say that this last stay was by far the BEST I've EVER experienced, from the greeting received when I arrived from Marvin, to walking into my room to a very pleasant scent, the pleasant Aloft hotel musical/marketing piece greeting me on the TV, the warm temperature after being outside on one of the coldest days ever experienced in this area, and the cleanliness of the room and the fact that everything in the room worked put me over the edge, the blinds, the remote, the lights etc. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and I look forward to staying with you again in the near future and will pass the word along to friends and family! Rated 5 out of 5 by Genuinely friendly staff My wife and I had a rare overnight fun trip to National Harbor planned, and lucked into finding the Aloft Hotel there. There were lots of things we enjoyed about our stay. The room was great, comfortable, with a great view. But the highlight was the genuine friendliness and accomodation provided by the front desk staffperson who we think was named Marvin. He treated us great throughout our brief stay, and even moved us up to the top floor for a better view after we had already checked in. It is always amazing how much a smile and greeting make a difference. January 17, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by very disappointed The outward appearance is not only spectacular but deceiving. The lobby, sitting area and conference room are all beautiful. Once we stepped in our room it was great, until it was time to use the bathroom. The toilet was filled, and I literally mean filled to the top with feces, that seemingly had been fermenting for several days and carried a horrific stench of death and foul sewage. Management was called immediately. Zach did respond in a timely fashion The following morning, after a night of restful sleep, we were once again disappointed. Other patrons of the hotel stated that there was an emergency evacuation that only a few guests heard. AN EMERGENCY EVACUATION that only a FEW patrons heard. We were not only shocked but furious. We then asked the concierge what happened and that we, among other guests, did not hear anything. The response was, "Well, it was a false alarm anyway.".... Absolutely unacceptable and extremely dangerous! What if it wasn't? It is not ok for only a few fire alarms to function properly so that only a few people can evacuate safely! And the nonchalant response of your employee that "it was a false alarm anyway" is totally unacceptable. I would like to be notified if my life is in danger, falsely or not. Hopefully, management can reconcile these issues for future guests, as I will not be returning to this particular Starwood property. March 2, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by great hotel for a great price I was attending a convention at the neighboring hotel and was within walking distance of all the shops and entertainment. It was safe to walk alone even late at night. The neighboring restuarants were classy and neat but a little expensive. The fridge in the room helped me to save by holding on to the left overs and doing my own breakfast. The microwave in the lobby was great. Free coffee all the time and water bottles in the rooms were a life saver. Loved the HD TV and contemperory shower in the bathroom. The 70's decore of the lobby was very european and lobby was always bussling with people. I will come back anytime to this hotel!!! July 16, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by what's the new twist I was told to hang up and redial numerous times in order to use a travelzoo voucher to book my room. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was put on hold and never attended to again. I hung up after 31 minutes. Simply trying to book a room. Doors and walls had grease, scuffs, prints. There were no towels at the pool. Staff wasn't especially quick to help resolve the issue so we were late getting to our next event. This happened all 3 days that we used the pool. Incompetent staff? We had to request numerous times to get more towels for our room (we only had 3 for 4 people), and it took hours for them to arrive. Where are the staff? terrible service April 8, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lack of Customer Service As a General Manager of one of your locations, I was expecting just a little empathy from the situation. What I received was just the opposite. He was short, rude and very unprofessional. He stated that it would be taken care of I would be emailed a folio. Once again days passed and NOTHING. If this is the leadership and example that is set by the general manager, your team is in trouble! I then called the billing department and finally received everything needed. This situation should not have been this challenging! A little follow-up and simple customer service on every level would have been great. December 19, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great hotel with some shortcomings Hotel has some great features and aspects: wonderful staff, the public areas, room internet. And the location in the heart of National Harbor was excellent; easy to walk to the conference center but didn't feel trapped in that bubble. Easy access to a variety of restaurants. Here's the downside: an uncomfortable bed and pillows which made for poor sleep. When traveling for work with the need to be "on" while at the conference, it is a must to have good sleep; I've not had this problem before when traveling. Also, difficult to hang dresses or long slacks in closet area. Room needed refurbishment as it was looking worn (runs in carpet, dings in wallpaper). April 26, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Modern & basic with matching price point Modern and basic with a matching price point for area Aloft has a very clean feel and minimal styling. This is not the hotel for you if you are looking for plush full service accommodations. Common areas border on stark and could use more warmth. Lobby is on second floor after going up a set of modern/open concrete stairs. Lobby has a very open - warehouse feel and is divided into several seating/lounge areas - one of which has a bar. There is a small circular front desk which can serve about 3 customers at a time. They have a breakfast/food area which I did not look to closely at. The rooms are small but feel larger due to the very efficient use of space. The rooms were clean and fully equipped (although the iron and ironing board were extremely well hidden in a cubby behind the far side of the headboard). Workout room was small but had very good equipment – TV in most equipment – water and free ear phones (new and individually wrapped) for listening to TV. Pool was small and anyone counting on doing laps would be frustrated at size. The National Harbor area has lots of restaurants and fun bars with in close walking distance. This area is very safe to walk around at night and feels like a ‘convention island’ with only the hotels/ shops/ restaurants. I would stay here again because you get this great area at a reasonable price. There were several things that were good ideas but poorly executed 1. The lobby area was interesting but with too much concrete for my taste - the floors looked like they could just hose them down to clean them. 2. Bar area did not attract folks as a gathering place, it felt cheaply done and was not inviting. 4. Four screen display wall looked like something you could do yourself and was not at the same design level as the nice modern furniture that was used in the seating areas. 5. Airplane flight display concept is good – but display used small fonts and was mounted too high on wall - - so you actually could not read it easily. 6. touch screen check-in – they used a diagram on screen that showed inserting your Credit card in bottom of monitor.. however actual hardware was mounted in a drawer face about a foot off the floor 7. Not enough lighting in room November 10, 2011
