Rated 4 out of 5 by Convenient Location - Staff Needs Training Upon trying to check in, stood in lobby (no markings to indicate 'Wait Here for Next Available...') waiting for either of 2 desk staff to be finished with their respective customers. Waited for close to 10 minutes for one to become available (much too long in my opinion). But, as desk staff was finishing up w/ one person, a man in a wheel chair and his family rolled off the elevator, past me, and right up to the desk! The desk person should have said SOMETHING (I felt quite invisible at that point), but instead of saying something, proceeded to check them in next. FINALLY got someone to check me in; asked questions of the desk about hotel exits to the parking garage (he did not know about the back entrance??) and had to go back and ask for the drink vouchers that came with the Travelocity booking. Later, went to the bar to get a drink, and they said that due to computer issues, that I could not get one (again, voucher for drinks...he couldn't just take that?), so had to leave the hotel. Some of the staff (more than once) did not give us the right of way (stepped in front of us, etc). This should be standard in the service industry, and in most hotels, the staff is much more considerate to customers. December 26, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by Honeymoon In DC! I was given a two night hotel stay at the Aloft at National Harbor. I was very impressed with the ultra modern decor, friendly staff, and overall experience with this hotel. The patio has a very comfortable feel with padded ottoman like seating and at night color changing lights set the mood along with a nice fire pit. The staff acknowlaged us any time we came in or left the building. "welcome back" or "enjoy your day". Little words like this let us know that the staff actually cared that we were there, some hotels just have desk assoiates that dont even know if you have left the building let alone say one word to you after check in. Our room was very nice, it had a Korean feel. We had a harbor view room and i must say breath taking. the bed was comfy and i loved the comforter (down alternative if im not mistaken).we stopped for a drink at the wxyz lounge in the hotel and it was nice to be able to relax in a welcoming atmosphere. THEY HAVE A POOL TABLE IN THE LOBBY! and they have plenty of comfy seating to laugh it up with friends or cuddle your love one while watching the fire place. overall i would recommend this hotel to others in a heart beat. close to the metro station, dc, and lots more! prime spot! Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Romantic Getaway I surprised my husband with an overnight getaway.I easily booked online, loved the alacart options for booking & loved the option for a breakfast upgrade. We checked in & Marvin was very friendly & helpful.Even with a full lobby of guests,he gave us his undivided attention & even told us about the SPG program & offered us 2 complimentary drinks at the bar if we wanted to sign up. He even accommodated us by giving us a higher level room so we had a view of the water even though we didn't have the "water view" room. He was very friendly and made our first impression of the hotel great. Our room was perfect. Clean & all the necessities of home. We loved the modern feel. The bed was comfy and the black out shades allowed us to sleep in the next morning. The hotel bar was nice..lots of local beers to choose from & full stocked bar. The bartender gave us a recommendation of foods at Rosa Mexicana, literally across the street for dinner. The hotel is in the PERFECT location for walking to nightlife, restaurants, water front. The parking garage is steps away and costs $13 for 24 hrs. We watched the sunset sitting on the rooftop deck of the wxyz lounge at the hotel before walking across the street to Rosa Mexicana where we enjoyed an amazing dinner. The table side guacamole is sinful. After dinner we walked up to Bobby McKey's piano bar where we laughed, sang and enjoyed the dueling pianos. A must go to spot! We returned to the hotel where the lobby and bar where hopping! Our room was very quiet and we slept well on the comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious. You can walk up and order a breakfast sandwich and then there are many alacart items to go with it. Lots of options and it was really yummy. It was such a GREAT little getaway and we can't wait to go back! March 23, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not very quick on refunds or ability to assist customers when they are overcharged I purchased a Travel Zoo voucher for the Aloft in November 2012. When I called to make the reservations, I gave my voucher number and I was asked to give my credit card number to hold the room. A $114 fee was charged to my card. I called and asked about this and was told it was just for incidentals and would be refunded after checkout, didn't agree with this being charged to my card 2 weeks before my check in date but fine. The day I checked in, I had to present my voucher and another $100 incidental fee was placed on my card. The $100 was refunded to my card the next business day after I check out without any problems. I called about the $114 and at first was told it was the payment for the Travel Zoo voucher, even though I purchased it already through Travel Zoo. After speaking to Emily for a few minutes, she finally took my card number so she could look at my account then told me the $114 should not of been charged to my card and would issue a refund. A week later, I still have not received my refund. I called again and was told I would need to call back and speak with Emily in 2 days. I asked if someone else was available to assist me and was told not at this time because we are slow today. I find it hard to believe that a hotel like Aloft doesn't have someone available to assist customers with their accounts. December 10, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by More like a college dorm than a nice hotel I stayed here because the other hotels in the area were sold out, the location was good, and the price was reasonable. The good: -Staff seemed to be trying to be friendly/helpful -Hotel was clean -Rates were less than other hotels in the area The not-so-good: -Only showers, no bathtubs in the rooms -No room service or restaurant. If you arrive late, you are stuck with some 7/11 type food options (tv dinners, cup of noodles and a microwave in the lobby) -The clientele seemed sketchy. I overheard someone talking about how some of the rooms had been trashed by previous guests -I was traveling with something that needed to be iced on the way back. My blue ice needed to be frozen solid in order to carry it onboard with the airline and keep my items cold, and I explained that to the front desk associate who said it would be no problem. She staff said they could put it in their freezer and I could get it before I left. When I got it, it was slushy. The gal said that what they put it in was the ice chest, which isn't even as cold as the in room fridge (I had a room fridge, so if I had known that, I might have kept it in there or found another solution). I honestly had some doubts that I would even get my blue ice pack back, but that it was not frozen was very poor. I luckily found another solution to keep my items cold, but that is just not acceptable hotel service, esp for an SPG hotel. -The XYZ bar was dead. I had a friend who wanted to meet for drinks and offered to come to my hotel. I said "no" because I was embarrassed/didn't think she would like it. June 13, 2013
