Rated 2 out of 5 by Bed was hard and lumpy Expected a lot more from Starwood. Room was very small, bed was hard and lumpy, not many amenities as compared with other hotels I've stayed in (even at lower cost). Very unimpressed. December 26, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Family Birthday Weekend Rooms were on the 5th floor with views of the golf course. Like the hotel lobby, the rooms were clean and modern, although smaller in size, every inch of space was used to near perfection. The bathroom was wonderful. Lovely sink, under counter refrigerator, large shower and nicely partitioned for privacy. Beds were comfortable but firm. Flat screen television worked well and was a nice size, but no HGTV for late night viewing. The breakfast was superior. Omelet and egg sandwich are the best. The WXYZ bar was outstanding. Drinks and the bartenders were great. When we are back in Charlotte, we'll be at the Aloft Ballantyne. Truly a brilliant place. June 27, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Home Away from Home This is my 4th stay at an Aloft hotel and it was by far the best. We travel with 2 small pups and the staff made sure that the pet goodies were in our room upon arrival. This was a first for us at Aloft. The staff was kind enough to put us on the first floor which was a big plus when you have pets. Every request we had was responded to with priority and we were treated like valued guests. The property was clean, bright and quiet. I would recommend it for leisure or business guests. The food and drink and daily specials were a great treat. The shower was amazing, so much better than a tub shower. I can't wait to return for another visit. July 19, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Our stay was just ok You definitely feel like you're staying in a budget hotel. The rooms are cramped, and it's obvious they tried to fit as many rooms into that building as possible. There aren't even closets! We were not big fans of having to use the key to turn on the lights. The room service is contracted out to some outside business, and so it was slow and not good. The Re:Fuel concept makes you feel nickel-and-dimed, and the "CHEF" merely warms up frozen foods for the expensive breakfast plates. In Charlotte, an outdoor pool would make more sense than an indoor pool. The outside seating area is not at all inviting, no shade! The "Green" thing is pushed quite a bit, and they actually bribe you not to use housekeeping services. The shower gel/shampoo dispenser was left empty for the duration of our stay. We have pets of our own, but don't really want to stay in a hotel room where others have kept their dogs. There were dogs everywhere. The staff was ok, although not the friendliest. My cousin was bombarded in lobby by staff members when he arrived with a cooler. They treated him like he'd done something wrong. One even said that the police would come and blame the staff for "Drunks in the lobby." 1. He had just arrived and was only pulling the cooler to the elevator. 2. There is a bar in the lobby. We were there for a wedding, and we agreed that our first impressions of the hotel were fine, but we would not stay at Aloft hotels again. August 1, 2012

Rated 3 out of 5 by Rooms are VERY comfortable but Internet is awful This is my second stay at this Aloft and the bed was extremely comfortable and the showers are high up and have great pressure. I like the green option where you don't have to get towels replaced and your room made up fresh daily. I wish it had a restaurant and there is limited,but "okay" room service. The big problem for me is the spotty and unreliable Internet. This was not a problem for me on my first stay although I heard others complaining. But on my second stay it was ridiculously bad and our whole group of 6 had trouble. And no, I did not complain to the desk, because I just didn't have time to screw around with troubleshooting. Rated 4 out of 5 by Why Why did you go to the expense of significant features and: 1) not finish the room ceiling? 2) Have a place to hang up clothes in a parallel fashion vs, perpendicular.? 3) Why not have a closet in the bedroom in in front of the shower glass? 4) The bathroom vanity does not butt up to the toilet wall....things fall through the crack. 5) The sink in the bathroom is very decorative but ...there is no over flow protection...when the stopper was depressed it wood not seal. 6) We had two rooms for four people.....all thought the beds were too firm. 7) No rack to place luggage and access contents. 8) Eating at a picnic table? Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs Improvement My husband and I stayed two nights in July. We did not sleep well either night due to the hard mattress and loud hallways. People were up at 5am, slamming doors and talking loudly in the hallway. In addition, our shower would not drain well. I slipped but was able to catch myself. My father-in-law who stayed in the room next to us-had the same experience-He actually DID fall and is still in pain today. The facilities are clean and the staff are helpful but for what I paid-I would have expected MUCH more. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Memorial Day Weekend My wife and I stayed here during the Memorial day weekend. This was the first time staying at this hotel and I was extremely impressed. This was a great total customer experience. When I booked the room using the Starwood 800 number, the service rep was extremely professional and friendly. I teach people how to sale over the phone and I was very impressed by the rep. The hotel was clean and I enjoyed the modern feel. I loved the bed, shower and pool table downstairs. My wife and I have referred to our visit many times and we wish were back there. We will visit Charlotte just to stay at your hotel. Thanks for the experience. June 6, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Consistent Excellence As I would like to note the favorable atmosphere of the Aloft Ballantyne, the true recognition should notably go to the staff. I have been staying, almost weekly, at this location for 9+ months. Not once has the staff failed to provide top notch service with professionalism, class and genuine enthusiasm. The true "cake topper" was during a recent winter stay, I came down with a stomach virus and was literally shut in for nearly 36 hours. The staff voluntarily sent soup, crackers and GInger Ale to my room. Each and every employee should be commended for their consistent dedication to making each stay better than the last! Rooms well thought out, cleaning staff pleasant, friendly and not always in the hallways....other hotels could learn from them. Internet connection is only bad thing at the hotel. It was horrible throughout. Business meeting was often interrupted but drop-offs (WIFI or connection). Please fix this. Do not wait. July 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Merry Merry, My wife and I stayed at the Aloft in Ballantyne over the Christmas holidays. We were accompanied by our little rescue dog, Bandit. The hotel is spotless, the staff incredibly courteous and the amenities everything a person would want. The staff was extraordinarily attentive, caring and knowledgeable. Access to the Aloft is as easy as it gets and there are a huge number of restaurants and shops all within a minute or two if the hotel. If you need to go into The city (Charlotte) it is a 10 minute drive on the interstate. Whether or not you are in town for business or pleasure the Aloft at Ballentyne is the place to stay. Rated 2 out of 5 by 30 or younger This place is for the young trendy folks, preferabbly singles with few clothes, like to drink and don't care what the cost. Was never told of a fee being held for "Incidentals" until I asked. Our room wasn't cleaned until 5pm on our 2nd day, and even then, we had to demand it be done so we could proceed with our evening plans. Oh, and clean the carpets once in a while. July 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Place and Awesome Staff We are huge fans of Starwoods and SPG. The staff went above and beyond and this place was AWESOME. They gave us an early check in, the pool was great, the bar area was great, Location was awesome, This is becoming one of my favorite SPG properties as we like the convenience of everything, but this is more self-serve and we really like this aspect as well. Room is super comfortable, in room refrigerator, I cannot say enough good things but the staff was hugely helpful and they were working pretty hard managing the front area. So, keep on doing well with your hotel model. We always pick your hotel when available. August 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Aloft is ALWAYS the Best! I've stayed in Aloft Hotels three times now, the Ballantyne Hotel being the third time. Every stay is wonderful! Each time I've stayed I've felt welcome, comfortable, and always enjoy myself in the WXYZ lounge having drinks and playing Pool. The entire hotel is clean and visually appealing inside and out. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and modern. The staff is friendly and willing to help. Huge props to Betsy for giving me a call back in regards to a mistake I made booking online where I might have been double charged...but she put my mind at ease and re-enforced the confidence I had in the good integrity of the hotel, which I feel is in a class all its own! Rated 3 out of 5 by Overall a good experience This hotel is beautiful and it has a lot going on. I think that for a weekend in Charlotte this is the perfect place to stay. There is live music, a full bar, a gym and indoor pool. However, this hotel is not meant to have a guest stay for more than a couple of nights. I was there on business and I didn't have the basic things I needed to live somewhere for a week. For example, there was no microwave in my room. The ice machine was located on the lobby level. The fridge was so small I could barely put a couple of sodas in there. Everything was pay per item and after a few days that can get very expensive. January 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really cool and Hip I wasn't too sure about this hotel because it seems to be geared to younger people, but the staff there really goes above and beyond making all their guests feel welcome. I didn't think I would "fit in" but once I was there, the rooms were nice and simple and the hotel had eveyrthing you need. You just have to be open to a new experience and do have to look around for a few things. The iron board was in the head board of my bed and the lights were operated by my key card, but I enjoyed the uniqueness of it all. The best thing there though is the staff. I saw lots of smiles and neighborly treatment. November 7, 2011
