I was surprised to be able to hear my neighbors through the wall. Not only do I hear them walking around, dropping items on their floor, but also hear them rising & closing their curtains. This was the first starwood hotel where I could hear everything from my neighbors. I was also able to hear when my neighbors were taking a shower too. I would recommend adding soundproof drywall to the rooms to prevent neighbor noise.

Our family of two adults and a 10 year old stayed one night in room 1110. What a fabulous room with its decor, view, giant windows, contemporary feel! Service was very good My only suggestion is that the breakfast package should include a full breakfast for two people, not a $20 credit since $20 cannot cover the cost of a full breakfast for two people. Alternatively, disclose the credit online to set guest expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DogKachur Underrated Hotel / Exceptional Value
Came to Chicago to attend a rooftop in Wrigley this past weekend. Discovered this hotel for the first time. Rooms are a tad small but VERY practical, modern and swanky. What you lose in a normal size room in Chicago is made up in high quality furnishings and modern details for a hotel room. The price point we paid was at least $50-$75 lower than other 4 star hotels in the area.
Only con I could think of is the valet parking was @ $62 a night. I could have parked it myself in a nearby garage for $47 (they have a sign informing you as such) but I was short on time that evening.
Pool table and sitting area in lobby is a nice touch as well as the bar. Need to try out the round chairs in the lobby and have a conversation with someone across from you. Pretty cool effect..
Lastly, location though not on MI avenue is still close to a lot of restaurants, bars, etc. but then again, if you want to stay at a 4 star hotel on MI Ave, you'll be dropping another $100+.
Do yourself a favor, try this place I guarantee you will not be disappointed! I am very particular in cleanliness and quality of a hotel wherever I go.. This is a 4+ star facility disguised in a 3 star price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mosaic53 Few Minor Comments
Some things lacking in the room are a towel bar or hook near the sink to put a towel after washing hands or face, only one is inside separate toilet/shower room. Need to have another mirror near closet area, where one would normally dress. If more than one person is staying in room, makes getting dressed (& applying makeup) more difficult.
VERY small details. Hotel only open a couple months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wilg4 Pleasantly Surprised
I had read about Loft style hotels but really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Great "cool" factor, wonderful staff, exceptional room and a really comfortable bed.
River North neighborhood is really coming up and the value of the room rate was exceptional. Great value for the price. Would recommend this hotel without exception.

The hotel was right in downtown, good location. Loved the room layout where the bed looks out onto the city. Fun overall style.
The walls & windows are thin, I could hear conversations/people in the adjacent rooms & hallways as well as every noise outside. Didnt get much sleep.

Great bar scene right in the lobby! Rooms were very nice; great use of the space! Staff was very accommodating. Loved that this was the first hotel I stayed at ever that did not charge for the bottles of water that they place in each room. We were on the 14th floor and the views were awesome. I will definitely be staying there again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by zerolife Great location
- 2 blocks from subway
- friendly staff
- modern simple "Aloft" style
- room feels small. Aloft rooms tend to be small compared to other Starwood hotels but this one feels even smaller than the other Aloft's I've stayed in

Want to pass along my gratitude to Trisha, Oscar and the whole guest services team. Unable to travel to Chicago due to the crazy amount of snow today (6 inches in 4 hours), I wanted to pass along my thanks and will make sure my friends know to stay at the Aloft City Center because of the awesome people that make this Aloft top notch!

First experience with the Aloft grouping. Overall an outstanding value here in the City Center. Short walking distance to Mag Mile shopping and great dining. Will definitely use this hotel on our next visit to Chicago.

We stayed at aloft City Center in Chicago for 2 nights. The location was great, right downtown but a bit more affordable than the hotels right on Michigan Ave. Our room was very clean, the bed very comfortable and we slept well. We also liked the grab and go breakfast, very quick and convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CuzMike Has Limitations
This location has its limitations. The room was very nice, maybe a littlle small. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. But, cell phone receoption in the room was poor and wi-fi hit and miss. Additionally, self-parking was two blocks from the hotel and valet parking was difficult with only curb space to work with.

Aloft was a great hotel experience. The location was perfect for enjoying Chicago and being able to walk during the day for shopping and in the evening for restaurants and nightlife. The staff were awesome and extremely customer service oriented. This is my first choice for where to stay when visiting Chicago!

The ALOFT Chicago just opened a few months ago. It is very nice. Very comfortable bed in a stylish room where the window actually opens for fresh air.
The staff was very professional and greeted me every time I entered the building.
Beatrix the hotel bar is very good with good food and great crowd.

Hotel was cool, location was great. The rooms were intended to be cool, but seemed a little cheap. The staff was wonderful. When your neighbor opens their shades it sounds as if it is happening in your own room. The walls and windows do not block any noise from the outside of your room.

This was my first experience at the Aloft hotel brand and really enjoyed the uniqueness of the product. The modern feel to the hotel fits nicely in the trendy area of Chicago. I think this hotel is great for any occasion and highly recommend to anyone considering a visit to the area.

this hotel is an incredible value right in the city. Rooms are nice, internet works, there's coffee and a fitness room, it's quiet. Maybe I don't ask for enough but with all this I am sold.

Great location. Great restaurant & bar. The staff is excellent -- a very well managed team. The doorman -- I believe his name was Luis -- gave excellent service when getting my car from the valet.
By far the best managed aloft in which I've stayed .... and it's new to boot.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Aloft in downtown Chicago! The location was amazing being so close to bars, restaurants and things to see and do. Most impressive, the room was very quiet in the mornings - no troublesome sirens could be heard. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I just stayed at Aloft this past weekend for the St. Patrick's Day festivities. We were part of a group of 9 couples. The front desk clerk was able to put us all on the same floor at check-in, and handled our large party with ease. Best of all, she recognized us as SPG Gold Members/SVN Owners without us saying a word and automatically upgraded us (delicately taking care not to mention it in front of our group) to a corner room with windows on 2 walls and a fantastic view of the neighborhood. The restaurant/bar downstairs - Beatrix - has good food and fantastic bartenders. There are unlimited dining options in all price ranges and types of cuisine within 1-2 blocks of the hotel, and there is easy access to both bus and train transit. My husband didn't care for the bed, because it was too soft for his liking, but I thought it was absolute HEAVEN. Both of us were impressed with the modern asthetic, and we loved the layout of our room. We also appreciated the "green" initiative with regard to housekeeping. Very cool. We're already planning another trip to Chicago in July, and this hotel is high on our list to stay at again. We will DEFINITELY be back in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ek2013 Hotel experience good, but confusion over pricing
I did not have any issues with my stay. However, when I booked the room, there was confusion over pricing over overnight parking, work facilities charge, etc. When we checked in, they honored the rate given to me over the phone, but it was a hassle.

This was not a great location for our needs - the Chicago Marathon. Parking garage was three blocks away and expensive. Vacuuming in the halls at 9PM and 8:30AM. Our beds were not made. Very pricey for no extras. The front desk staff were very nice.

This is my second stay in an Aloft hotel and I am, once again, satisfied. The hotel is trendy, hip, and modern. I loved having the restaurant downstairs because I dined there for breakfast and frequented the bar in the evenings after my events.

Stay was great except for 2 items....
1-No plugs on work desk. I cannot figure how you can have a brand new hotel open in 2013 and I have to crawl under the desk to find a single open plug on the wall?
2-Show had extremely low water pressure.

The hotel was very trendy and fun. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The only negative was the pounding music from the restaurant/bar downstairs and the outside street noise.
