Rated 5 out of 5 by Porpoise Wonderful experience in Asheville
We loved our visit. I only wish the website had been more up-front about the fact the hotel is 100% dog friendly. The irony is that we probably would have chosen a different hotel, and enjoyed it less. Even with severe allergies, I barely sneezed during our 5-day stay. Nonetheless, full disclosure is always the best policy.

This was my first stay at an Aloft hotel and I found it very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and eager to help. I enjoyed the grab and go breakfast feature and the green room $5 off cleaning idea. I'll be glad to stay at this or another Aloft hotel any time. We didn't get to use the spa, pool or fitness center but would like to next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DueNorth if only the bathroom was clean
Business travel, 60 + nights a year and throw in 20 or so personal nights as well. Staff was nice, very accommodating, just too bad it didn't extend to the maid/housekeeping staff. Toilet in bathroom had urine on the seat along with some long blondish strands of what I assume looked like women's hair. Unacceptable

Aloft couldn't be better placed to explore downtown Asheville, staff were great and recommended great places to eat, room wasn't huge but was very comfortable and had lovely views and saltwater pool was very refreshing.

This Aloft hotel, as with all Aloft hotels, is beautiful, comfortable, and just quirky enough to make it great. You have the feeling you are in a five star hotel because of the amenities, but it does not have the stuffiness associated with many five stars. Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location.

If you are thinking about coming to Asheville, stay here, it is that easy. Amazing location, views, hotel, service, it is just a great place. We took our dog with us and everyone was extremely accommodating, again if you are coming to Asheville, stay at the Aloft.

Everything was great! One small thing is that the carpets in the hallways and common areas really needed to be vacuumed. They were pretty dirty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike1213 Great hotel in downtown Asheville
If you want a great hotel to base out of to explore downtown Asheville (which everyone should do), this is the place to stay.
It's also right next to the Orange Peel for you music lovers.
We stayed there a week. I have no complaints, just one minor suggestion:
It was annoying to have to enter the WIFI credentials in each time we returned to the room. It would be better off to change the userid/password once every month or so to keep any unwanted users off the system. (And I noticed they hadn't been changed in a few months,)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Monette A very pleasant surprise and stay!
First time we decided to stay downtown Asheville after using motels in and around the area for years. What a pleasant surprise! Aloft provided all the creature comforts of home in a well designed Euro style hotel room with amazing views of the city and surrounding mountains from the large windows. The bedding was absolute quality with down comforter and great mattress, and believe me, I'm the character from The Princess and the Pea! if there ever was one. I would recommend Aloft to all ages as it makes all other places seem a thing of the past. I also loved that we could step out and be right in the downtown area where all the excitement is. Everything within walking distance, great restaurants, galleries, cafes and of course music!! No parking worries. We'll definitely stay here again and again!

In the heart of downtown. A lot going on within walkin walking distance. In fact a lot happening right in the hotel. But rooms were still very quiet. Excellent choice!

I've stayed at an Aloft hotel before but never had the issues that I had at this hotel. My rom key didn't work in the elevator and I had to go back to get it fixed twice. The key didn't work in the garage for getting in and out. The internet didn't work properly and no one at the desk could help me. I will stay at another hotel before trying to stay at this Aloft hotel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jebatten12 Convient to downtown and comfy bed.
Aloft Asheville is extremely convenient to downtown and has a comfy bed. Other than that...meh.
For the building being only a couple years old it's been a rough couple of years. For instance in our room the door didn't shut all the way without assistance, the toilet paper holder was loose and in a down position, the shower door leaked, the water never got hot, we had to request items such as towels, and coffee. The front desk associates were not too pleasant to deal with. The girls behind the Starbucks counter were awesome as was the poor guy that came to the room to bring us coffee supplies, glasses, tried to fix the toilet paper roll and would come light the fire pit which had a faulty part but he knew how to fix it with a butane torch. Also you have to pay $5 a day for parking which is very low class for such a hotel to do at this price point. Seemed very cheap and tacky for them to charge it and flaunt it.
For what you pay and the reputation of the hotel parent company we expected better. The highlight for sure was it's location and the very comfortable bed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pdf555 ok efficiency, staff could use some improvement
New property in downtown Asheville. Given the efficiency style it's a relatively expensive property. Check-in is complicated by the fact there is often no one in the downstairs desk, so you have to walk up to the 2nd floor. There's no designated SPG status check-in. The check-in staff was not very helpful nor welcoming. Also had called ahead to leave a message for another guest above my late arrival and that message was never delivered. Room was modest and had not been thoroughly cleaned: complimentary toiletries in the room had not been refreshed since the last visitor and there was toilet paper shoved in the coffee maker. The door between the sink and shower/toilet was ridiculously poor quality and constantly banged into the sink. Would not stay again.

This place is an absolute dream. I love these trendy botique hotels. I've stayed at most of the top hotels in Asheville, but this is my top favorite. You can't go wrong with the location, bar and or staff. Try the specialty martinis here. Relax in the comfy chairs. Enjoy the pool area. The parking is awesome too. I absolutely love this place. Please build one in Greenville, SC.

Rated 3 out of 5 by rg33333 Incredibly rude guests on our floor
The first night we were there, the hotel was apparently filled with wedding & bachelorette parties. There was one on our floor, which resulted in slamming doors & loud talking in the halls until around 3:00 a.m.
When I complained to the front desk, they basically looked sympathetic & shrugged and said "yeah, we have a lot of parties this weekend" and it almost seemed like they wanted me to feel sorry for them.
The second night was much better. Although I do have to ask: why do hotel room doors have to have their automated closers set to MAXIMUM FORCE so that they SLAM every time they're opened/closed? Surely this is something that some enterprising hotel chain could improve upon & then use as a competitive advantage?
When I was checking out, I mentioned again that the first night had been really unsatisfactory w/r/t noise, and the front desk clerk basically said that they were going to have a word with those people when they checked out. WHAT? That's a little late to do any good, isn't it?
At NO point did either of the clerks offer anything in the way of compensation, discount, comped room in the future, or even believable sympathy. It left me with a bad impression, given how much we paid for the room.
The location of the hotel is *perfect* for what we were in Asheville for, so if we return on a similar trip, I would likely stay there again, but not as a result of anything the staff did this time. More like in *spite* of my experience this time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shickey67 Poor customer service at check-in
We arrived early and I knew our room would probably not be ready. Susan, the girl at check-in when we arrived at 12noon on Monday April 1, 2013 was our first staff member we met. When I asked if we might be able to check in early, she stated that check-out time was noon and the people were still in it. She did not look it up on the computer to verify that. We were told that is policy. 100% of the hotels we've stayed in have at least checked on their computer to see if the room was ready and most of the time we are told no. I'm not upset that we couldn't check in early. I am upset at her tone and poor attitude. We were confused about parking and asked if we should get our ticket validated, she huffed and said it was a city lot and that once we left the hang tag would replace the ticket. Consequently, I lost my ticket and the garage attendent was reluctant to release us from the garage and said it was standard for them to validate the ticket. I waited until 3:00pm to check in and when we did Susan was still there and once again very rude. When I went back to get our luggage she rudely stated that I had a "ton of stuff" and I'd need help. I went back easily got my duffle bad and roller suitcase. I was able to carry it with out help. I am so happy that every other staff member had excellent customer service skills, except for her. Sadly, a first impression is just that - it can't be taken back. Susan should not be in customer service, she needs to be in the back office.

It has good location for business, pleasure, the only thing when we leave something at the room your cleaning people they have to report immediately to lost and found department, It was my error not to check my bag , the next night we stay at Gatlimburg city , when I check my pijama was missing the top. They said never found It, on my way back to Chapel Hill NC I try to pick It up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CawCaw Stay with awareness
I stay at this property quite frequently. Location is great, nearby to some fine Asheville dining. The staff are very friendly and helpful and recognize me as a returning guest. ( I tip well) The cleanliness is not up to my standards however. Dogs are commonplace here. I would prefer to not have a room where a dog has slept. I think I got a flea bite a week or so ago & one stay there was dog food left on the carpet. Trash is not emptied when opting for housekeeping, leaving last nights takeout remains in the room.
Tonight, old lipstick residue on the drinking glasses. A bit of an ick factor sorry to say.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RLB601 Room experience and Staff
The staff was great. Very helpful and courteous. The overall hotel was nice and in a great location.
My original room did not appear to be cleaned thoroughly. There was dog food on the carpet next to the nightstand and bed. When pulling back the covers, the bedding had debris from outside at the bottom. The staff relocated me to another room and provided me with SPG points to compensate. As a frequent traveler I appreciated the way the matter was handled.
I would suggest the Aloft consider bedding similar to other SPG properties. I found the bed and pillows to be very uncomfortable and not what I expected from a SPG property.

Rated 5 out of 5 by golfpants17 Highly recommend this hotel
This was our stay at an Aloft hotel. It was a great choice. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Asheville, with many great places in short walking distance.
The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The room was very clean. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on.
Many nice little features you don't find at other hotels. We especially liked the having a water station at the end of the hall to get fresh drinking water for the carafe in our room.
We especially liked the outdoor pool, and the fire pit, and would have spent more time out there than we did, had the weather been better.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Location for downtown activities is perfect. Very nice modern room, great view, and very comfortable.
My only complaints are minor:
Bar doesn't open till 5 pm (at least on Thursdays).
It's confusing to walk in from street level and not know where to go for check in (which is 2nd floor).
It should be explained that it's best to park on level one, rather than your room floor, because to access the hotel by foot, one must go back down to level one. An explanation of this would have saved us a little time, but no big deal.
Overall a great hotel that I plan to visit again in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lollie Loved Aloft Asheville !
Can't think of one negative thing about the Aloft Asheville. All the staff, from the front desk, the bar, the breakfast, the maintenance and housekeeping, were soooo nice and accommodating.
Our poolside room was amazing and of course those heavenly mattresses made for comfy sleeping.
The "cool - trendy" decor throughout was interesting. Bath/shower were spacious and functional and the small refrigerator was an added bonus !
We fell in love with Asheville and the Aloft. Oh ... and it's located in downtown within walking distance of all the best eateries, bars, and shopping.
Can't wait to return ! Thank you Aloft !

Rated 5 out of 5 by sheila18 love love!
Everyone is so very friendly, even when we checked in almost midnight Christmas morning. We traveled with our "canine child", max, and the hotel is so dog friendly (as is the town). We chose Aloft for this reason and the location--perfect location right in middle of town, right in the middle of everything. Perfect for walking everywhere and walking our pup.
Housekeeping was so kind. In addition, Caitlin (?Caitlyn) was so sweet and patient with me after we checked out--I left my purse in our room, then my wallet, as she was juggling many at the desk. (Thanks much!)
Recommended to people walking through asking about our pup, as well as friends here. Cannot wait to return!

Rated 1 out of 5 maybe if you are 20 years old you might like this place
This is basically a self-service hotel. Not sure how it qualifies as category 4. Check-in MAY be available when you go inside - maybe not - you may need to go to the 2nd floor where there is a disco and bar to check in or out. First room smelled vary bad. They moved us to a 2nd that wasn't so bad but still a little smelly. after dinner one night we returned to the hotel at 11:30 pm and couldn't get in. Door to the hotel would not open and no one was there in the lobby. Waited several minutes for someone to let us in. But, if you like loud DJ's and dancing maybe this would be a good place since the check-in/out counter on the 2nd floor is right in the middle of a disco bar.

Rated 3 out of 5 by wuapinmon Underwhelmed
The hotel was beautiful. The receptionist was smarmy when we checked in, seeming to seethe at another employee for something so minor as telling us to get our parking ticket stamped (it turns out she was right, he was wrong). The room's view was stellar, but there were water stains above the bed, holes in the sheetrock in two places, and the water never got above warm when showering in the morning. I expect a hot shower for $200 a night.
Also, you allow dogs on the top floors, even on the elevators. I despise dogs and don't wish to share living space with them, especially when they're barking on elevators. I won't stay at an Aloft again so long as they allow pets on all floors.
