Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost perfect We have stayed here several times and are rarely disappointed. We love the close proximity to all that Asheville has to offer as well as the friendly staff and clean facility. We were excited to bring our dog on our most recent visit since the hotel is pet friendly. Having heard wonderful things about how accommodating the property is we were a bit disappointed that there was no dog bed and that the front desk wasn't even sure they had dog bowls. The rooftop area with the pool and fire pit is wonderful and a great place to spend some extra downtime. We love grabbing a drink at the wxyz bar and enjoying it outside. September 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by One of my favorite hotels Funny, I've traveled all over the world and stayed in many nice hotels but the Aloft in Asheville is one of my favorite hotels. Maybe it's the great service and employees at the Aloft, perhaps its the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the Pool Deck with the Camp Fire area and the funky yet modern decor of the Aloft, it could be the location of the Aloft in Downtown Asheville across from the Double Decker Bus and close to many farm to table and fine and/or comfortable restaurants. But I think it is the combination of all the above mixed with the nouveau hippy atmosphere of Downtown Asheville, the Paris of the South, that enchants me along with the contrast of the rural life of the Blue Ridge Mountains that makes it so magical. I can't wait to go back! September 20, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Delightful Stay in Asheville The room was quiet, clean and functional, and the location of the hotel allowed easy walking access to downtown Asheville and the Urban Trail. But the best part of the hotel was the staff. My wife and I were greeted warmly, and every question we asked was answered pleasantly and completely. September 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A really nice place to stay Aloft did the basics very, very well. Our room was exactly as stated -- bright, airy, with a great view of the mountains -- although 385 square feet is a bit tight. Our room was clean and everything worked very well. Staff was cheerful, attentive, and give the impression that they wanted you to enjoy your stay with them -- which we did. Hotel was very well situated that made most everything very convenient and within easy walking distance. Parking at $5 a day was great, and we took advantage of their Birthday pricing special -- which was on our bill exactly as promised. When in Asheville, I will book into Aloft. September 16, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Overpriced, undersized rooms and minimal amenities At these room prices I expected much more.No real restaurant, no room service, no shower wand, noisy A/C, poor soundproofing between adjoining rooms, inconvenient parking (no valet service), and inadequate staffing. The terrific location and friendly service can't make up for the deficiencies at this supposedly "trendy" property. If this is the trend for the Starwood chain, count me out. September 10, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Missed the mark a bit Hotel has a great idea and a funky vibe. I read and understood that this was a pet friendly hotel prior to booking and arriving. I have a lab and she did not travel with us but I am okay with dogs and pets. Hotel is not clean enough considering the added wear and tear of pets. Room smelled and after we tipped our room staff the room was cleaned more thoroughly and smelled much better. We informed them we were there on our 19th anniversary. Room they chose was the Handicap Access Room. Not the romantic feel we hoped for. They just missed the opportunity to be so much more and to help us spend lots more money by staying in their bar or restaurant. Too bad. Great location and again a really cool vibe. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great stay We just came back from 3 nights at the Asheville Aloft.. As everyone else is saying it is so much fun staying there and it is in a great location. The facilities are fun and the beds are comfy. They had a band on the roof one night. It was fun for the whole family. It is right in town and there are so many restaurants to go to. I would definately go again. September 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by TREASURE IN DOWNTOWN ASHEVILLE We booked this property last minute for labor day weekend, and were so pleasantly surprised. It is a hidden treasure in the heart of downtown Asheville. Since the hotel was fully booked; we weren't able to upgrade to a suite or pool side cabana room, but they looked amazing. The staff is fantastic and rooms were well appointed with breathtaking views of the mountains. Exceptional recognition of our platinum status and super pet friendly. By far one of our favorite SPG properties and the BEST ALOFT IN THE NETWORK!!!! September 2, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by better for a party person My husband & I chose to stay here for a weekend getaway without our young children. Although the property has nice features it was a little too noisy & a party atmosphere for us. The loud party sounds went on until after midnight each night & a dog in a nearby room was yipping. The location was great so that we could walk to many places downtown. The bed was a little firm for my taste & the contemporary design actually felt kind of cheap to me. I was a little disappointed that we spent so many of our hotel points on this room as it felt pretty mediocre to me & I wouldn't chose to stay here again. However, for a young party minded person who just wants to drink it would be a better choice. September 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quick Break Great location for pet owners. Ask for the 3rd floor. September 1, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by gold and platinum status meaningless at this hotel My wife and I arrived about 2 hours before check in and were told we had to wait to check in time to get a room. Feel free to treat a regular customer off the street this way, but not platinum members. If the room isn't available that is one thing, but to say no one can check in before 3 is another. I am sure the front desk staff would vehemently deny this accusation. However, when we finally were allowed to check in 15 minutes early we spoke with the cleaning staff outside our room and they said the room has been ready for at least an hour. I believe this is the 4th time I have stayed at this hotel, and on each stay I have found these two things to be true each time: (1) The room rates are too high for the quality of hotel. One is paying to stay in downtown Asheville, not for a nice room or the excellent service. (2) The staff says all the things they are trained to say ("Mr. XYZ I see you are at the platinum starwood preferred guest level, thank you for your loyalty."), but this hotel staff has never actually done anything to make me feel like they care that I am a platinum member (room upgrade, early check in, etc.). It is hotels like this that make me question why I continue to be loyal to SPG when other hotel chains have so many more properties is so many more places. September 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun Funky Hotel This hotel was just a fun place to stay with access to everything that we wanted to do. The staff was excellent. So very friendly. The room was small, but the space was well utilized, making it quite comfortable. The bar/lounge area, including the ability to sit outside on the deck and enjoy people watching was excellent. We will be back. August 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great feel Really enjoyed the rooftop pool and patio bar, it was amazing August 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this Artsy Dog Friendly Hotel Everyone at the Aloft was amazingly friendly, helpful and attentive. I loved the location and the dog friendliness. My only suggestion would be to clean up the back. It was a turn off to see all hte cigarette butts in the back where I took my dog. It would look a lot nicer if the grass was resodded and that cigarette receptacles were placed outside. I am sure the staff would use them if they were there. Other than that….loved it!! Rated 5 out of 5 by Great property. My husband and I just stayed at Aloft for a long weekend. The location if fabulous and the property is great. It's clean and fresh and the staff is just wonderful. I would high recommend this property. August 27, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Housekeeping subpar, barking dog next door Duvet covers on both beds were dirty (looked like chocolate chips smeared into them). Dogs everywhere...may be trendy but for a business traveler, I don't want my clothes smelling like pets or the barking dog next door wking me up everytime someone walks down the hall. Returned to my room the second day, beds were made but no sweeping and there were still klenex/wrappers on my nightstand that had not been cleaned up. Floorplan not ideal..long narrow sleeping area separated by long narrow bathing area. Can watch from desk (only while in bed). No chairs to sit in except uncomfortable desk chair. August 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Probably the best Aloft If you stay at an Aloft be prepared for an "Aloft style" room (small). The layout of the lobby and bar and outside areas (including open air pool) were excellent and exceeded my expectations. The 2nd floor veranda that extends the length of the building is great to relax at the end of a day. All the staff were very professional and experts at their jobs. Overall a great experience at this hotel. August 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely place to stay Such a treat to stay in this lovely hotel in the heart of downtown Asheville. Top-notch accommodations and friendly staff...will definitely return! August 23, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love to walk Great location for walking downtown. August 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Asheville Aloft The hotel is centrally located and exactly like all Aloft hotels, urban edgy. The housekeeping staff, however, was not up to par. The second day the staff left no new coffee supplies, toiletries or wash cloths. The third day the room was not made up by our return at 4pm . We called for new towels and let it go at that. The desk comped our parking fees for the inconvenience which made me wonder what else they would have done. Someone needs to supervise the housekeeping staff more closely. August 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel Hotel was great, location was perfect - there is not a better place to stay in downtown Asheville August 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by We will be back!! Second time to stay here and will be back again. Friendly staff, Quality Service and Very Nice rooms. Location is perfect for seeing and enjoying down town Asheville. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic stay - great staff The room location and quality were excellent. The staff went out of their way to make this a great visit (as they always do at this hotel). I will certainly stay yet again and we encourage others to stay here too. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent experience Others have said this before, and I agree: this is one of the, if not the best Aloft in the system, at least in the US. The staff is exceptional, and the location right in the heart of Asheville convenient. They took good care of me as a Platinum member - very much appreciated. Overall highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 by Always Accommdating This hotel is a pleasure to do business with...much appreciated. August 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This hotel has a great staff The entire staff was so helpful but especially Katie. This was our first experience at an ALoft property. We stopped in a 2pm and to see if our room was ready and they said come back at 3pm. We returned at 4:30pm and our room was still not ready! Katie was extremely helpful and gave us complimentary breakfast and drinks at bar for one day. Her courtesy and pleasantness with offering us a paid amenity impressed us both. August 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Hotel!!! Totally enjoyed our stay in Asheville, NC at aLoft!! The location was outstanding to get a true feel of the city. The staff were outstanding---very informative of things to do and places to eat. The room was unique. We had a great time and definitely will come back in the future. Thank you. August 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very pet friendly The check in gals were very helpful and friendly not only to me but my two pooches too. It's makes all the difference to have facilities that are accepting and tolerant and understanding to the four legged family members! August 4, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great location, facilities need work Best location in downtown Asheville. Customer-facing staff is friendly and service level was quite good. The hotel is extremely pet-friendly, and the staff went out of their way to make our dog comfortable. The rooms are quite small, but you shouldn't be spending much time in your room while in Asheville. It could have been cleaner, and the carpets in the hallways were in poor condition and dirty. Housekeeping was friendly, but not particularly effective. As a result, it is hard to give this hotel a strong recommendation. Were it not for the extraordinarily convenient location and pet-friendliness, we wouldn't recommend it at all. August 4, 2014
