Rated 1 out of 5 maybe if you are 20 years old you might like this place
This is basically a self-service hotel. Not sure how it qualifies as category 4. Check-in MAY be available when you go inside - maybe not - you may need to go to the 2nd floor where there is a disco and bar to check in or out. First room smelled vary bad. They moved us to a 2nd that wasn't so bad but still a little smelly. after dinner one night we returned to the hotel at 11:30 pm and couldn't get in. Door to the hotel would not open and no one was there in the lobby. Waited several minutes for someone to let us in. But, if you like loud DJ's and dancing maybe this would be a good place since the check-in/out counter on the 2nd floor is right in the middle of a disco bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lollie Loved Aloft Asheville !
Can't think of one negative thing about the Aloft Asheville. All the staff, from the front desk, the bar, the breakfast, the maintenance and housekeeping, were soooo nice and accommodating.
Our poolside room was amazing and of course those heavenly mattresses made for comfy sleeping.
The "cool - trendy" decor throughout was interesting. Bath/shower were spacious and functional and the small refrigerator was an added bonus !
We fell in love with Asheville and the Aloft. Oh ... and it's located in downtown within walking distance of all the best eateries, bars, and shopping.
Can't wait to return ! Thank you Aloft !

Rated 4 out of 5 by EliG A nice hotel for the money
We stayed here for a getaway weekend. The vibe is modern and cool, not exactly romantic, but interesting. The rooms are very small, but comfortable. I like the green aspects of the hotel like getting extra Starwood points for foregoing maid service and fresh towels. TV desperately needs an info channel. There was no way to know what was on other than channel flipping.
WXYZ bar is very nice, with great mixed drinks and local beers.
Coffee in the room is better than average.
Love that the hotel is dog-friendly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fairway2Heaven Great location
A great place to stay for the price/location. However, this is no nicer than any other Aloft. Should not be category 4.

My friend and I decided to have a small adventure and visit a city we'd never seen before. Aloft was located essentially in the city's center, so we walked in to rent a room without having previously made a reservation. The desk clerk (Eric) was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. Not to mention, he was a wealth of Asheville fun facts, which we loved!
Only minutes after we entered our room, he called to ask if everything met our expectations. I don't know if this is hotel protocol or his initiative, but it is a great idea! We explored the city for a bit, and came back to the hotel bar. There were two lovely bar tenders working on a quiet Sunday night, and while they must have been eager to get home, they offered us amazing service with a smile. We were two of only 5 people in the bar, so they even met our needs for friendly conversation and witty banter.
All things considered, I would highly recommend Aloft to anyone and everyone. We had an amazing experience and all of the staff members we encountered were gracious and wonderful! What a treat this unplanned adventure turned out to be, thanks largely in part to Aloft and their fantastic customer service!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jen1312 Friendly and trendy but approachable
Great place to stay! Staff are friendly and polite, facilities are good and the decor and furniture are stylish yet comfortable (the two things don't always go together). A couple of things could be improved;
Firstly, the breakfast facilities were a little basic and a bit of an afterthought. There was very little seating area for breakfast and service a bit hit and miss, so we only used the hotel breakfast service once. My husband's breakfast order didn't arrive and we had to chase because they had forgotten about him.
Staff perhaps need to be a bit more knowledgeable. We asked where we could access banking facilities for traveller's checks and currency and the staff gave us two options, both of which were out of date (The travel service in BB&T no longer cash traveller's checks and the Bank of America we were directed to closed in 2012).

Rated 5 out of 5 by UNC67 Great location; friendly staff
This hotel had been recommended by some friends, and we certainly found out why: convenient downtown location, cool room, universally friendly staff, and good breakfast. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
