Lobby was uncomfortably warm. Carpets in the room are worn and frayed at seams. Light in shower was burned out. Sandwich I selected in refuel seemed stale/old. Just not what I had come to expect based on previous stays.

1) Clothes storage awkward and completely inadequate. Put up some hooks if you're not going to have a closet.
2) Door to shower leaked badly, creating large pool of water on the floor.
3) Climate control was ridiculous. In order to sleep in a ccol room, one had to use AC -- in January!
4) Pillows so soft that they offered no support even with two of them.
5) Get rid of the useless couch and replace with a dresser.

There was an issue with the phone in my room, so it made a sound similar to an alarm the entire night. At ~4AM, I figured out how to unplug the phone & phone jack and was able to sleep until 5:30AM. This was a terrible experience. I stay in SPG hotels frequently and have been staying often this year. At a bare minimum, I expect to be able to sleep without interruption.

I visited Aloft hotel in February after the storm. It was a warm day but the night was cold. I woke up in the middle of the night freezing - the heating was not working. When I checked out I asked staff to look into this issue. I was told this will be done but have not heard from the them. Not even a courteous "sorry" when I left. I would never stay there again.

While the lobby was well decorated, the elevator had duct tape repairs to the floor. The rooms were small and had the ambiance of a college dorm. I am not sure why the only place to put a seating bench in a room would be underneath the wall mounted television? The staff attitude throughout our stay seem to be "whatever!" Lofty ambitions, poor follow through.

Toilet in room ran periodically. Walls are thin and you can hear other patrons in their room. Decor looks like some college girls went to Target and picked all the most awesome colors, for sure!
Chic and minimal can sometimes mean cheap and does not age well.

THE HOTEL WAS STARK AND COLD. IF YOU WERE OVER AGE 30 YOU FELT OUT OF PLACE AND OLD! THEY MADE A MISTAKE WITH MY DATE TO LEAVE AND NEVER SAID WERE SORRY , GO JUMP OR ANYTHING. I will NEVER go back again!

I would like to say that the beds were very uncomfortable and very hard for two days I was there I did not rest at all.
The Pillows were two soft, I woke up in pain around my neck and body ached for the two days.

A great place to stay. The staff was helpful, the rooms had a great design and a fresh, clean feel. Safe environment and great breakfast (although each item is individually priced). I'd definitely stay here again.

Don't stay here if you are allergic to feathers. They do not have adequate non-feather blankets, so unless you want to sleep without one, sleep somewhere else.

The lock and key system did not work on my room and did not work properly for all cards on the next room I was assigned. I was basically forced to go back and forth 5 times with different keys to try and open the lock all while waiting in line as other people checked in. This exercise went on for about an hour. I was then treated rudely while waiting as well as upon returning to the hotel and was given very little sympathy the next morning as I had to go get my bags that were in the original room. Finally, I asked for a wake-up call at 7:15 and I was not called and almost missed my 9am flight. I was also somehow locked in the fitness center as well and I didn't find the amentities to be that desirable.

I was pleasantly surprised upon entering my Aloft room at Chapel Hill, SC. I don't know what I expected, but I liked the modern décor. The bed was very comfortable and even the pillows were flatter than other hotels we had recently visited who used pillow cases tooooo small for the pillows! The only thing we wished was for another chair and another source of light. The one on the sdsk interfered with watching TV and the overhead one wasn't bright enough as it lights the bath area and the bed area. Staff was very cordial, answered all questions and knew the answers to the information we asked for. We will use Aloft again in our travels.

The Aloft Chapel Hill, a new hotel, has the best jogging trailos imaginable -- out the door are the UNC team's cross-country 8K and 5K running trails in the woods by the college golf course. In addition, Operations Manager Josh got us a great room overlooking the course and found a lap pool for us as well. Front Office Superbisor Andrew and his staff took care of every need we had (extra pillows, hangars, and, since we're Platinum, breakfast and capuccino coupons). Unique for Aloft, they have Valet Parking at no extra charge (but you should tip). We stayed four nights over Thanksgiving while visiting our daughter and really enjoyed it. We'll be back.

This hotel is overall a nice place to stay. Parking can be a bit of an issue if the hotel is packed and the parking deck is very confussing because if you self-park, there is very limited parking for hotel guests. I would recomment to valet park (it is still $10 per night either way)!

I stayed in this hotel recently for business. Prior to this trip, I learned that a relative was in the hospital. I decided to bring my wife and newborn with me so we could visit the relative. This decision was unexpected, but the hotel representative (Carolina) went over and above to make sure my family was comfortable. She was friendly during check-in and check-out. She made sure there was a crib in the room, and she gave me a room at the end of the hall (quiet to help my newborn sleep). She also let my wife use the room after check-out for the baby. I hope Carolina can be recognized for her great service!

1 - We really appreciated the no hassle access to the wifi. For the traveling guest that needs to conduct business, the free wifi in the room is most appreciated.
2 - The room was very modern, and yet comfortable.
3 - With the various electronic devices that you travel with (phone / tablet / computer), the ample number of electrical outlets is greatly appreciated.

The Hotel was nice, modern, and in fairly good shape. They were steam cleaning the carpets the day we left, which was needed in our room. The staff was very professional, friendly, and looked for ways to help / make our stay more comfortable - well done! My only knock is the indoor pool was very cool - need to raise the temperature 8-10 degrees for comfort. I will stay again when visiting Chapel Hill. I also suggest having local restaurant information/directions from: Squids, Weathervane, City Kitchen, Elements, and Bin 54 on a single sheet for easy information / look-up. All are close and good food

My family and I arrived at the Aloft for a three day stay while we attended a wedding in Chapel Hill. The front desk attendant "Corey" went so above & beyond to make our stay perfect. He arranged transportation service for us & 8 other family members to get to/from the wedding. He was always checking on our entire party to be sure we had everything we needed. Corey made our stay a 5-Star experience. The hotel is immaculate; beautiful lobby with a pool table, lounge, bar and wifi stations. Great little food service bar for a quick bite. The pool area and sundeck was incredible and also very clean.

I so wanted to like everything. Modern, hip decor, very professional and friendly staff. Great location for Chapel Hill and UNC. But housekeeping gets a D. My first sight was wrinkled pillow cases and sheets. Were they fresh, or was that part of the trendy look? Stains on the down comforter under the sheets. Dust on the carpet behind the door. Shower drain slow so I had to stand in a puddle. Icing on the cake was aftr the housekeeper left, toilet seat had many drops of water on it and 2 of his or her black hairs on it. Eeew. Paid a lot of my hard earned $ for this. If this is trendy, not for me.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting UNC Chapel Hill or the Research Triangle area. Located within the newly developed town center vicinity, this modern, clean, and comfortable hotel is just steps away from several restaurants and shops and sits across from the UNC golf course. Large windows allow for abundant light and spectacular views of the Carolina blue sky as well as the many trees and walking trails that surround the hotel.
If the room only could have had a garden tub as opposed to a walk-in shower, it would have been perfect (though the oversized shower was nice, too.)

The walls are paper-thin. They play loud live music in the lobby past 10:30 pm on a Tuesday night... good luck trying to get to bed early as the music carried right up into my room. I called the lobby just after 10pm to ask when the music would end. They told me they were on their last song. It went on for another 20 minutes. All I could hear was the banging of the bass. No drawers to unpack. There really isn't a closet, but a few "hooks" to hang your clothes on. Trying to be trending, but rather just a bit annoying. Couldn't sleep due to noise, Couldn't really get comfortable and I had to stay there 5 nights. I'm still recovering. Indoor pool is tiny! Don't plan on swimming, just wading.....

I tend to use this hotel not because of the style and in-room features but more the closeness to where I work and need for late event attendance for overnight accommodations. Not a fan of the bed or linens. The rooms smell funny (air fresherners would be nice, especially in the shower area) and, the water pressure at the vaniety areas are always a mistery. Sometimes a strong flow, sometimes a weak flow.It's a hotel that you can work with but more for kids or teens than adults. I like the plush comfort beds with onsite restaurants and more accommodating amenities like the Westin brand.

I hardly ever write reviews, but after such a negative experience with the reception, I thought I would leave feedback so that they improve for other customers. I am a loyal Starwood customer so I was surprised to find every interaction with the reception to be cold, abrupt and unpleasant. I left our weekend stay there feeling like I had intruded on their work.
Outside of the reception, the cook, valet and housekeeping were very friendly. The hotel is in a great location for touring the campus. Just don't expect any warm Carolina interactions (or assistance) from the reception.

I had an amazing week stay at Aloft in Chapel Hill. The hotel is beautiful. The contemporary decor is so cool and fresh. I loved my room. The bed was so freakin' comfortable! The shower was amazing. Every little detail was perfect...even the cool sinks! I can't wait to return in January. The staff was super nice and very welcoming. I highly recommend the valet service. The guys were great and it is a nice feeling to drive up to the front door after a long day of classes and be able to go right to the room and relax. Great shopping all around too! Awesome experience. Love Aloft!!

The front desk staff were the nicest group of hotel staff I've experienced. The friendly, outgoing and personable service was conveyed on the phone prior to our visit (placed 2 calls), in person during check-in and continued throughout our stay. I was not only impressed with the staff, but the hotel amenities far surpassed my expectations. We loved the hotel bar, very clean room, super comfortable beds and the window treatments which allowed us a much needed long nights sleep. This was my first stay at Aloft Chapel Hill but will not be my last.

We had high hopes coming to this hotel on New Years Eve, but were disappointed. The reason we booked this hotel, which was further away from where we wanted to be, was the promise of a truly pet friendly hotel. The pet friendliness of the hotel turned out to be they allowed pets...that was it. On my reservation it clearly states "We provide everything your pet needs including bowl, toys treats and a bed." There were two dirty bowls in the room. When I asked about the bed, they simply said "we need to update the website." Overall the room was clean and the woman who checked us out on 01/01 was very nice. It was nice to have our dog with us, but they should change their title from "pet friendly" to we allow pets.

First time staying at an Aloft and I was very impressed. The decor is totally hip. You instantly feel/know you are going to have a good time here! Loved the tall ceilings in the guest rooms, the modern decor and the comfortable beds. Took advantage of the great gym, and next time I will surely use the pool! At night the lobby transforms, and delicious drinks were served by their friendly bartender. With the Jazz band playing, and the right amount of people, I felt like I was in NYC. Check-in/Check-out with Corey was a breeze! Thanks Corey! This place was awesome!

But noisy accommodations thanks to a street front location and interior filled with many hard surfaces. Equally disappointing was an airport transfer arranged by hotel staff. The car was smoke-filled, in disrepair, and if that weren't bad enough, the driver overcharged! In all, I expected more from a Starwood affiliated hotel.
