Rated 1 out of 5 by Avant Front Desk Manager Has No Service Skills
I was awaken this morning by the sounds of loud construction – not a pleasant way to start the day. When I shared this with the front desk manager, and suggested customers should be notified of such construction when reserving their room, she simply said "we don’t have to disclose it by law”. What a pathetic response. Obviously the appropriate response is to show empathy and take steps to address the problem (e.g., “I’m so sorry to hear you had to experience that, may I offer you XYZ to help make up for it””). Worse, she said this in front of her two staff members. If they follow her lead, you’ll have a team of poorly trained staff offering horrible experiences to your customers.
It’s worth noting the lady that checked me in is great: couldn’t ask for a more pleasant person. She obviously lives SPG’s customer-centric ethos.

I felt the energy as soon as I stepped into the lobby. Like going into a party!

After checking in my wife and I went to sleep around 9:00 pm at around 11:00 pm the load noise started from the next room. I called the front desk and reported the noise. The gentleman said he would investigate. At 12:00 am the noise did not stop, so I called again. This time the same employee said no worries sir it should stop soon. Well at 1:30 in the morning it did not. I called again and again they said they would take care of. I had a wake up call of 4:45 am I left my cell number with front desk to have manager call me. I then called the hotel and asked for the manager which I was told she would call me back never happened

Here's my experience after a week long business trip. No where to park as you pull into the hotel. Lobby is packed with loud music. Music is loud inside the room late into Midnight… Finally fall asleep late into the night and woken by construction noise at 7am (even on Saturday). I would not stay at this hotel again."read less

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jeremy1314 I don't sleep well in night clubs
I am generally a big fan of Aloft hotels. I stay at them frequently, including 9 days that have booked over the next month. I will continue to stay at them frequently. I will never stay at the Doral Aloft again. There were a few minor problems like having to have my bill corrected to reflect my platinum free breakfast and having to have some erroneous charges removed from the bar I never went to. Those things can happen anywhere. The major problem is that this hotel tries to be a nightclub, and worse, they pull it off. I had a second floor room and could not escape the pounding of my walls till midnight while the DJ played right below. A small problem when I am on vacation but a much bigger issue when I am there for business and have an early morning, Also, because of the nightclub draw, parking is atrocious. A problem when I have to drive around the lot and overflow for 20 minutes hoping to find a spot. I would actively recommend that this hotel be avoided, unless you want to sleep in a night club.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DirkGently Cute boutique with a nice bar / lounge
ALoft is a nice little boutique hotel, clearly rehabbed from an older building with nice IKEA / modern touches like a no-stepover shower and furniture with clean, simple lines.
It was a great place to stay during my recent business travel. The staff was especially friendly -- I was a bit wiped out from my day, and Jonathan at the front desk and Jesly at the bar guided me to the excellent flatbread pizza available at the bar when I had been about to grab a cold sandwich from the smaller "to go" food area.
I loved the decor, which was a great break from the usual boring style. The lounge / tv / bar area downstairs is tres cool, with fun touches like a sparkling LED bar and a light sculpture over the seating area. All of the flatscreen televisions, and the *free wifi* (still not a universal given, even in upscale hotels) were first-rate. I streamed television shows for hours on my tablet with no problem.
The building does show its age a tiny bit -- there is the faintest damp aroma in the hall, and the a/c in the room struggled a little to keep things cool on an incredibly humid Miami night, although it was ultimately fine and I slept well.
The sign in the parking lot disclaiming all responsibility on the part of the hotel, and reminding you to lock and bar your door suggested that maybe the neighborhood is not the best. Still no one bothered me (or my car) and the hotel clearly is looking out for its patrons, with touches like the extra child-height security peephole. Likewise the use of the room key / card for both the elevator and the room, and the way it worked with a wave rather than having to insert the card awkwardly as in most places was well done and.
Overall, this is a terrific little hotel with very friendly staff, and a refreshing look and feel. The small bar is fantastically well stocked and will serve you very satisfying food if you so desire. The tech bits like the televisons and wifi are better than I've had at recent stays at "fancier" places.
I will definitely stay here if I'm in the area again.

I stayed from Fri Sep 19-22 and hose was not cleaned on Saturday ...staff alleged a sign was left on door declining housekeeping cleaning. informed front desk attendant this was not true since all door signs were left inside room. On Sun I reminded front desk attendant to clean my room. I returned during day and room was not done, he informed that housekeeping is performed until 5:00pm but sent service upon request. I would not stay in this brand again...
