Rated 3 out of 5 by where is the Wow? I was looking forward to my stay at an Aloft, having stay and most of the other Brand's in the SPG group. I must say I was somewhat disappointed, staff were friendly but there was something missing, overall they seem to be a little too casual - no valet, no help with baggage, no in room check-in, no recognition of my SPG status. Maybe my expectations are too high having stayed at W's and Le Meriden's - where I get a personal greeting from the duty manager or at least a note in my room - this time nothing. Breakfast was ok - nothing to rave about, could be so much better with a little effort - again staff are too casual, no attention to detail (milk for coffee, sauces for cooked breakfast) - perhaps they should read the W staff manual. Waitress had obviously just been for a cigarette, as I could smell it on her. Room was very pleasant - not very big but that's ok, bed comfortable, shower powerful, no upgrade. Overall, I was not Wow'ed by this hotel, the building is great, but the Aloft branding looks cheap, and the first thing you see when you enter the lobby is a computer Printer?? It's a beautiful old building don't spoil it with after thoughts November 16, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Stylish accommodation within a historic building This hotel has been a regular haunt throughout the summer of 2015, while working in the north west of England. I appreciate the sympathetic restoration of this important building - well and truly brought back to life in Liverpool. Other positive points are a good breakfast - way above that of the typical morning fodder presented at Aloft properties and there are great staff in the NYL bar. Although a relatively new hotel, I seem to regularly encounter problems with the fixtures and fittings. Three recent examples: a blocked drain, a broken shower door and 'keyless' door lock system failings. Tip: Ask for an invoice on departure and check it with care. The front desk staff do not seem to automatically proffer the paperwork. I have encountered more than one significant room rate error and it is a protracted process to resolve the problems. Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Stay. Food & Drink to die for! Stayed last friday night at the hotel. The whole experience was great. met by Kayleigh on reception who was lovely. check in very quick. The rooms are modern, great shower and TV.....the beds are the most comfortable ive ever slept on. Went in to NYL for a meal, both mine and my partners meals were cooked to perfection. the drinks were a great strart to the night, and the guys on the bar were a great laugh. i would definitely recommend this place! Rated 4 out of 5 by A Friday night stop over Good sized clean room, with everything I needed for a one night stop over. Disappointed at no bottled water left in room on arrival, rang down for some. Would like some toothpaste in the bathroom, as I had forgotten to pack some. July 23, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Stop over after 'Christmas in London' We were given a good sized room with pleasant decor and it was clean and tidy. I was disappointed that there was no bottled water provided in the room on arrival, had to ring for room service. Can I make a suggestion for a small tube of toothpaste in bathroom please, as I forgot to bring some with me when we left London. Also a separate shampoo/conditioner dispenser in the shower would be a preferred option. July 23, 2015
