Procurement, Purchasing & Receiving
A critical link between back-of-the-house operations and the guest
experience, Procurement, Purchasing & Receiving has a tangible impact on
the financial success of our properties and how our guests feel about staying
with us.
To be part of Procurement, Purchasing, & Receiving is to be part of
Starwood’s quality control, ensuring every item meets the needs of our hotels
as well as secures a price that allows our hotels to deliver services at a
profitable margin.
The ideal candidate for Procurement, Purchasing & Receiving has a
passion for detail and thrives in a deadline-driven environment. Candidates
should have a willingness to regularly go above and beyond the expected. This
includes a willingness to solve supply problems as well as be able to take an
unusual work schedule – one that can extend into nontraditional hours as well
as beyond the Monday through Friday workweek – in stride.
In addition to being facile negotiators and problem solvers, a high degree
of organization is essential for responsibilities that include not only
establishing initial orders, but maintaining a key eye on inventory levels and
keeping track of the continuous levels of supplies and their distribution.
Most candidates begin in the receiving division so as to get a wider
understanding of the overall department and to see how the department supports
our hotels. From receiving, individuals can take on additional responsibilities
within the hotel they are assigned, or seek promotions by moving within regions
or divisions.
