Flying high on the honors bestowed upon them for some of the hottest restaurant and hotel interiors in Spain, the Hospes Design Team remodeled two adjacent 19th-century palaces in the center of Valencia to form the 66-room Hospes Palau de la Mar. In the interior, modernist principles reign. Carefully coordinated design elements, mainly using Wenge wood, have been chosen for the guest rooms, where rich dark woods contrast boldly against bright white walls and a modern, textured décor.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
A modern renovation of two palace residences, Hospes Palau de la Mar is a mix of luxurious, avant-garde interior design and carefully restored original elements, such as the grand loggia stairway with an intricately carved wood banister and a colossal ornate doorway, which was once the carriage entrance. Valencia’s first five-star luxury boutique has been transformed by renowned Spanish designers Isabel López and Sandra Tarruella, whose cutting-edge, monochrome interiors contrast elegantly with the historic architecture to create an oasis of calm in the city center.
