Created with adventurous travellers in mind, the aptly named Wanderlust, in Singapore’s colourful Little India neighbourhood, will delight guests with its smart yet whimsical design. The hotel’s 29 rooms are spread over three floors, each of which was created by a different design studio. Just taking the elevator to the lobby is a journey in itself. The hotel’s industrial-chic lobby, bar, and restaurant Audace, which serves authentic French cuisine, have quickly drawn in the locals, making Wanderlust feel like the centre of the action.
MADE BY ORIGINALS
Loh Lik Peng, the Singaporean hotelier and restaurateur, was a former lawyer who fell into hospitality as if by accident. Today, his Unlisted Collection of unique, high-quality properties in Singapore, London, Shanghai, and Sydney includes seven design-driven boutique hotels and 23 restaurants to date. With a finger ever on the pulse, Loh operates cutting-edge hotels in heritage-listed buildings that integrate guests directly into the local scene and community.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
Built in a rundown former primary school building from the 1920s, Wanderlust presents a wonderful façade with a colourful Art Nouveau mosaic that hides a bold, experimental interior design concept. Each floor of the 29-room hotel is curated by a different design firm from varying disciplines, though none had any formal hotel design experience. The results vary wildly, creating a colourful and wacky experimental hotel with a community vibe—perfect for the adventurous traveller.
