THE HOTEL Warm, earthy shades and a handpicked collection of tribal crafts invite guests at Nairobi's Tribe Hotel to explore the richness of African culture. The public areas and the 145 rooms and suites carefully incorporate an airy feel reminiscent of urban lofts, giving guests an abundance of space to appreciate the building's atypical angles. An authentic Kenyan vibe can be felt throughout the property, from the sophisticated Jiko restaurant, the well-stocked library, and the garden-wrapped pool, to the adjacent shopping complex, which hosts a weekly Maasai market.
MADE BY ORIGINALS Shamim Ehsani is a truly Nairobian cosmopolite with a shrewd eye. By creating a high-end boutique hotel that celebrates fashion, art, and design, he has put Nairobi on the map as a design destination. Ehsani also designed the hotel’s rooftop lounge, The Nest, which facilitates the mingling of guests and locals.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN Tribe Hotel is characterized by stainless-steel columns, sand-colored blocks, and interesting angles. Intersecting walls, warm African colors, and an abundance of granite, slate, and marble augment a huge atrium. The interior is awash in figurines and artworks that give the hotel a distinctive African voice throughout.
