Just a short walk from the beach, Luna2 studiotel’s 14 studios feature modular open-plan lounges and the latest technology. With iconic art references and a bold design in bright primary colors, the spacious studios are welcoming and vibrant. The playful color scheme continues poolside with color-blocked mosaics in the lap pool and matching daybeds. From the intimate Orbit restaurant, a spiral staircase leads down to the Pop! lounge bar, a decadent design den furnished in deep shades of reds, blues, and purples, where guests can lounge until the early morning hours. The 16-seat Lunaplex cinema shows classics and new releases daily.
MADE BY ORIGINALS
British designer Melanie Hall’s unique aesthetic owes much to extensive travels during her expat childhood under the wing of her architect father. Hall got her start in 1992 as Polo Ralph Lauren’s Head of Visual Merchandising in the UK, before taking over as Calvin Klein’s Head of Creative for Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. She relocated to Indonesia to start her own interior design company in Jakarta before launching Luna2 with her husband, Stewart. Inspired by her father’s work and allowing her own fascination of British pop art and the space race to shape her signature style, which she calls “FUNKed-up modernist,” Hall has infuses nostalgia, futurism, and touches of humor throughout the interiors of Luna2.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
Inspired by 20th-century modernism and borrowing its name from the first spacecraft to land on the moon, Luna2 studiotel is retro-futuristic in design, with simple architecture that emphasizes the details of boldly colored interiors. The circular pattern on the building’s façade hints at the minimalistic modernism that is found inside, characterized by Mondrian color blocking as well as references to classic pop art, British icons, Monopoly, Rubik’s Cube, and Lego.
