Nest Hotel is very much in keeping with its futuristic neighbor, Seoul. Located on Yeongjong Island, the 370-room property has been designed as the ultimate retreat. Its cubist-meets-modernist structure is masterfully crafted to afford guests maximum views of the surrounding nature and the Yellow Sea. The hotel is overflowing with services, including a library café, mini theater, spa, and world-class dining, as well as facilities for nature lovers.
MADE BY ORIGINALS
Youngjae Kim is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, guided by a “people first” notion. The South Korean’s many projects promote greater wealth distribution, with Nest Hotel sharing its profits with staff and SKY72 Golf Club & Resort (where Youngjae has been CEO since 2004) donating significant funds to social projects every year.
ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN
For its stunning design of Nest, JOH & Company put an emphasis on the nature that surrounds the hotel. Much like a bird’s nest, the concept here involved the “piling up” of design elements that dictates the hotel’s exterior appearance. Inside, a bold style reigns due to the lobby’s soaring ceiling, the third-floor open-sky sauna, exposed concrete, waffle ceilings, and glass walls, while diagonal windows optimize the absorption of daylight.
