Rated 5 out of 5 by RafKam Escellent Stay at Element
Having stayed at every other Starwood property in the Miami area, I was curious to check out the Element, which is why I booked a 1-night stay here.
Having heard of negative reports on arranging the airport pickup, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I got straight through to the hotel, and within 10 minutes the van was picking me up curbside. The driver was friendly and helpful, and after picking up a couple more guests we were on our way to the hotel.
The location is probably the worst thing about the hotel: it sits in the middle of an industrial area, mostly used as overflow car parks by the rental companies. So if you're staying here you're almost completely dependent on driving or relying on the airport shuttle. There is a lot of construction going on here, so it is conceivable that at some point in the future this area becomes gets more action. In the meantime, the location by the water is pleasant enough, and safe from aircraft noise, which is understandable and quite tolerable levels from the rooms, the location is quite peaceful.
Check-in was a bit chaotic, with a single staff trying to man the phone and check guests in. Otherwise found lobby to be very well appointed and spacious. Good sized gym, and very nice swimming pool area, which I unfortunately did not get to use.
As a Platinum, I was upgraded to a studio room, which had a separate kitchen/living room area, complete with cooking utensils and microwave/hotplate/dishwasher. Lots of storage too, and a very cozy couch/TV area. Bathroom was massive with an oversized shower, which I liked. Two things I disliked were the massive central aircon unit was inside the bedroom so got quite noisy, and, as pointed out by other people, the drinking glasses in the room were chronically dirty. As in someone had drunk chocolate milk from them and just put them back there without so much as rinsing them...
Breakfast was very nice, considering it's included in the price, and I also appreciated the computers and free printing in the lobby. On the downside, I found the food selection from the little takeaway shop to be extremely limited. Considering the rooms have microwaves, they could at least offer some microwave meals, as I got there quite late and had to make do with pretzels and chips.
All in all, for such amazing rates it's a good place to base yourself, if you're driving and you don't need to be in SoBe, or if you want great comfort at very reasonable prices.

My husband and I stayed here before and after our recent cruise. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. The shuttle which goes to several local restaurants and the hotel was wonderful, since we didn't have a car. The one bedroom unit was spacious and relaxing. The pool and outdoor fire pit was even more relaxing. We had a wonderful time and am glad we chose the Element as our hotel while in Miami.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Joel123 I had a bad experience at this hotel
I came in late at night and was very tired. The lot was fairly full and I had to park far away. At the front desk I was told that I had to go back out to my car to hang a permit from the rear view mirror. I said I was too tired to go back out late at night. I was told in an unfriendly way that if I did not my car would be towed. This made me very unhappy. I am not sure what the point of this was. I was not even so mad about the surprise $10 parking fee. (The spg platinum person did not mention that when I was quoted the rate). I trudged back out to car to do as I was told. I really did not feel well. The front desk clerk did not seem to care and did not even acknowledge that I was a platinum. I will never stay at this hotel again and will discourage my friends, who travel to Miami often as well, to do so as well.

My stay was quite brief but what a great solution.
In the center of Miami close to downtown this hotel is very clean and comfortable. Bedding pillows and mini kitchen very nice.
Checkin was cool no information given but efficient. Breakfast was very good. Nice location with plenty of security.

After riding the complimentary airport shuttle to the Element, I asked the check-in clerk about using the shuttle to get back to the airport the next day. He said that I would have to pay for a taxi. The next day I found out that there was complimentary shuttle service back to the airport. This employee needs to be correctly informed about what services are offered.

My boyfriend and I stayed here a few weeks ago and truly enjoyed our stay. I like that they have a complimentary dinner buffet Monday - Thursday and a continental breakfast every morning. There was some construction along the streets when we arrived however, the detours were easy to follow. There were some fast food restaurants around but not major restaurants within a short distance. We had a car so finding food was not an issue for us. Also, we brought lots of food with us. If I had one complaint it would be that our cell phones did not work well inside our room. We had a lot of dropped calls. Overall, this is a very nice hotel.

Great experience at this Hotel. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Room was very spacious. We are SPG gold members and we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom. Only there one night, but living area made it nice to watch tv without lying in bed. My husband realized after we left that he left his watch in the room and i spoke to Daysi in housekeeping and was glad to hear that she had it. Wow! we were so happy that it was turned in. Great Job Element and all the staff. Would definitely stay there again. Thanks

Rated 2 out of 5 by Adam1234 Not up to SPG standards
This was my first stay at an Element branded destination. While the overall style of the hotel felt modern, the finishes felt cheap to me. Lighting in the room was harsh and oddly placed.
In spite of my SPG status and advanced booking of over a month, I was told on arrival that the hotel was overbooked and they were 'upgrading' me to a one bedroom handicap- access suite. After entering the room and finding it not to my liking, the front desk reminded me that they 'told me when I checked in that it was a handicap room.' This argument seems out of character for a Starwood hotel. Even though no other room categories were available (not sure why an SPG member would get shuffled out of their reserved category), telling me that essentially this is what I'm stuck with because I agreed to it before even seeing the room felt like the bullying I'd receive at a lesser brand.
Not sure id stay at an element hotel again if this is the step down it costs me for a slightly lower room rate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Campos64 3 days and 2 nights of happy
We were so pleasantly surprised at how nice and relaxed everything was. The staff was not only polite and welcoming, but they were eager to let us know about evening meals, the wonderful latte/espresso machine, and breakfast provided at no additional charge. The room was great...loved the shower with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The tv had good reception and I would not have known I was by an airport had I not known because it was amazingly quiet in our room. I personally loved the pool.
The next time we have business in Miami I look forward to returning. Thank you.

I stayed here for a few days on business then my family joined me. This hotel catered to both needs very well. It is close to the airport, and not to far from other activities. The kitchen was great and helped me keep the costs of my family traveling with me down. There was plenty for the wife and kids to do at the hotel as I was at work meetings. I was also impressed with their breakfast, their is no service as breakfast is open and served Continental style, but they had allot of options.
Bad things, if you don't have a car there is nothing to do, nothing in walking distance!! And I hate to pay for parking!

Great pool and public area, workout room has the best equipment I've seen in a hotel.
Staff was friendly and helpful albeit English a second language.
Fast trip from airport, location appears desolate, security gates and fence.
Comp shuttle to great restaurants and bars

Rated 4 out of 5 by Di2012 Wonderful Hotel
The only reason we didn't give this hotel 5 stars on everything is that its location is not convenient to walking to restaurants for dinner.. Their breakfast was absolutely wonderful, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you've got a car, I think it's one of the nicest places to stay in the airport area. The rental car facility is just a couple of blocks away and easily walkable. It's convenient to the airport and the port, and their transportation to both is a great convenience. The four of us who stayed prior to a cruise were extremely pleased with the hotel facilities and thr staff!

Rated 1 out of 5 by 100nightsayear Sad -- great hotel with unstable management and rude staff
I have stayed twice at this Element and NEVER AGAIN! The first time I waited over 1.5 hours for a ride from the airport ( less than 2 miles away). The hotel repeatedly assured me that the driver was less than 8 minutes away. When the driver finally arrived, he had the nerve to yell at me about a shift change. Management apologized profusely and promised this was an anomaly and asked us to give a try again. We did and guess what...same late pick-up issue. We waited 53 minutes and this time he threatened to leave my baggage at the curbside and told me I would need to take a cab. All because he took a break and was late. He even called me an expletive. Don't waste your time on this hotel

Poorly run hotel by my estimation. The fire alarm kept going off when I was trying to rest because I had a late evening meeting. The elevator on my side of the building stopped working and I was not able to get a late check out. I was told something about the housekeeping staff not would not be able to manage a late check out.....very strange! Calling the hotel to get directions was a waste of time because nobody answered the phone.
My experience at the Element was a D
I did however like the free parking and the workout room

My experience with the front desk set the tone for this stay. Girl was more interested in listening to another conversation and I kept having to ask her questions just to get her attention. No toiletries in the room... no soap at all to wash hands. I found a maid and she said there wasnt any... I found a manager and he said he would get some for me wihtin 20 minutes... I never heard from him again. No cell phone coverage for my iPhone in room... internet service was so slow it wasnt worth the time. Very disappointed. Plus 9.00 to park... you need a vehicle as there is nothing near this hotel... no restaurants, stores, etc. Do not recommend.

Complimentary internet, continental breakfast and some night’s dinner. Nice pool area/ NO spa (wish that they had one)
Complimentary happy hours was very nice, and also a mini store to purchase items.
Great to see that the hotel is doing their part in “Green Recycle “building and beautification of the hotel
Only problem is that the airplanes are always flying over at a very close range and they are very nosey
thru- out the day and evening and early morning.
The drivers were very nice and the complimentary shuttle was great because I did not have a car or rental car

Waited at Miami international for 90 minutes for shuttle that never came. Phoned hotel and received a fast busy. Not sure if phones were down or staff just chatting on the lines. If the staff knew that the phones were down why not run the shuttles that were parked in front of the hotel since guests are counting on them to get from airport to hotel. Friend stayed at the hotel several days later and phones still not working. Staff unable to take initiative or ownership of the issue.

I made my reservation (2 queen bed studio for 5 consecutive days) about 40 days ahead of my trip. I arrived late (11pm) due to the delayed flight. And I was told that my room was given to someone else. This is the most worst experience I have ever had at Starwood, not to mention that I am a Starwood preferred guest. I am just curious why I paid the annual fee for the Starwood American Express credit card! Stay away from the hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Yas23 One of the hotels I'd certainly go back to!
Comfort, cleanliness, and staff courtesy are my basics in preferring a hotel. The hotel staff at the Element Miami were very welcoming and accommodating, whether on the phone or in person, and were prompt in assisting me in my needs. The rooms exceed the fundamental of comfort and cleanliness by raising the bar with modern and stylish interiors! I couldn't help but take down mental notes of decor ideas for my future home. It's also one of the few hotels I know that serves a fairly big menu of complimentary breakfast AND dinner.

Unfortunately this was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I had to wait over an hour for the shuttle (that should come every 15 minutes). They didn't have the correct room that I booked, the staff was way undertrained and didn't know how to handle any situations. I couldn't get the thermostat to work so my room was hot all night. It was a miserable stay and I would recommend you go somewhere else.

A minimalistic modern hotel near the airport. The lobby is inviting, has a metro feel to it. and designed like a NYC apartment.
The hotel is on a flight path so it can get noisy from time to time. Also, at the time of this review, the pool was not yet open.

One major issue with this hotel is its location but I'm assuming their shuttle service remedies it although I never used their shuttle service as I rented a car.
The hotel lacks a restaurant and bar (as far as I know) but they do serve good breakfast. I was never able to reach the front desk by phone but I was willing to go down in-person and was promptly attended to.
Otherwise, I received great service from the staff and my stay was enjoyable.

Element was a great place to stay within the Miami area for several reasons. The hotel itself has a very fresh, modern look and feel yet also delivers a very soothing and relaxing experience to guests. The location can't be beat with easy access to the airport and to the local rail transportation to be able to explore all of South Florida. The hotels amenities were top level as well with the great breakfast selection in the mornings, clean and up to date gym and the pool is a definite highlight! After staying here I would suggest it to anyone who wants a chance to travel and feel refreshed and recharged when they leave!
