Service provided by Regina was inferior. Upon arrival at Miami airport at 10PM, I called front desk to get instructions regarding shuttle service. Regina asked me to be put on hold, even though I said I just needed quick instruction. I remained on hold for at least 5 minutes, before hanging up and reaching another receptionist who gave me directions straight away. Then, upon arrival, I was registered by Regina. Though I had reserved a one-bedroom suite, Regina said that these were sold out, and that she would be giving me a studio suite. I asked her if, rather than receiving an upgrade, I was being given a downgrade, to which she answered YES. At no time did she acknowledge that I was a Platinum level guest, and did not offer complimentary arrival gift. When I asked if I would be getting points upon arrival, she said that they do not give out points. She handed me my key and turned away to assist another customer purchasing snacks. I had to ask for her attention to get direction to the elevators. Finally, when she turned away again, another reservationist told me I would indeed be receiving the complimentary arrival gift of points. I still don't know if that will occur.

Although the hotel is touted as modern, the high security gate surrounding it made it feel almost like a prison.
The sofa in the lobby was extremely uncomfortable as we had to wait over two hours for our requested early check-in room to be available as the previous guest was allowed a late check-out. The staff's main concern was that our luggage not be in the way.
It appeared that the majority of the staff and their families lived on site.

Rated 1 out of 5 by tinati worst hotel experience ever
I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and such horrible disregard to service.
You overbooked so many rooms (there were at least 8 customers in the lobby at 3-4AM with no rooms), completely stopped answering your front desk phones (I called several times throughout the day and even the reservation specialists could not get through), stopped running for hotel shuttle, and you had no back up plan with other hotels to move customers to. What made it worse was that there was no manager on site and the two young gentlemen left at the front desk , while well meaning, were completely unequipped to handle the circumstances. And adding to insult, you did infact have some rooms available because you were still giving rooms to spg platinum members. It was a platinum member who got a room who gave me HER room because I was alone traveling with an infant. The whole experience was COMPLETELY unacceptable.
I do not understand frankly how you are employed or how your hotel is up and operating. Our experience with your hotel has made us consider cancelling our spg card and account and we will never be staying with you again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Pinklady267 Very little indoor cell phone service
We stayed at the Element hotel this past weekend. The hotel was booked solid. Upon arrival (4:30 p.m.) it appeared that the front desk employee was having difficulty finding our reservation but we were finally given room cards.
The lobby is open and airy. Very nice decor. The upstairs hallways are not attractive. They are dark and very long. They almost felt like a dark cruise ship corridor. Our room door was difficult to close completely. You had to slam it shut for it to completely close. This is no exaggeration.
I liked our two-room suite but wonder how well the furniture will hold up over time. It all looked nice but had somewhat of a cheep feel to the furnishings, especially the four plastic chairs in the living room. The kitchen was nice, well stocked and very functional. I would suggest filling your ice cube tray immediately upon arrival if you think you are going to want ice because the room does not have an ice bucket.
Our room, which was located on the third floor, southwest corner was quiet. I could hear airplanes taking off but it was not near as bad as I had expected due to the hotels close proximity to the airport. The sleeper sofa in our room did not have bedding for it. We requested bedding be sent up. Housekeeping delivered us a sheets. No extra pillows or even a blanket. The housekeeping lady was nice, but we had a communication problem because we do not speak spanish and she did not speak english. We never did get any more bedding (pillows/blanket).
We did sit outside for awhile on Saturday afternoon and the planes were very noisy. Each time a plane was taking off we would have to stop our conversation. It was very loud.
Breakfast in the lobby on Saturday morning was nice but it was very busy. I enjoyed the variety of breakfast offerings. The mango juice served in double shot glasses was a very nice touch. I loved the cappuccino maker. Sunday morning breakfast was an entirely different experience. No mango juice, the eggs and eggs whites mixed with potatoes were cold. The cappuccino maker needed more coffee beans. The line grew to eight guests before anyone attempted to see if there was a problem. Another attendant was busy straightening the jellies on a tray but failed to notice that more plates needed to be put out. It also should be noted that I had to wipe down our table using water and napkins because the employees were not cleaning the tables. The Management needs to do a better job overseeing the breakfast attendants.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lady22J Comfortable/Spacious Rooms and Close Proximity to Airport
I stayed at this location since I had a 14 hour layover and it was about 7 min away from Miami International Airport. I called the hotel and requested a pickup at the airport. The receptionist, Christian, told me that he was going to call the driver and inform him that I was waiting to be picked up. The shuttle came in about 10 minutes. I had already booked my studio suite through the SPG website and it was cleaned and ready when I had arrived around 8:30 p.m. The laundry room was clean and there was enough washer/dryers available to use.
I was disappointed that the pantry store didn't have much frozen food/dinner selections available for the guests. The freezer was stocked with Lean Cuisine meals and containers of ice cream. After seeing that, I asked the receptionist if the hotel accepts outside delivery and he said, "Yes". He gave me a few restaurant menus to look at so I can order myself dinner. It was such a bummer since I had to wait for my food to be delivered. The receptionist gave me the television remote so I can watch the T.V while I sat in the lobby waiting for my dinner. The room on the other hand had no food disposal. I was dumbfounded by this.....a receptacle for bottles, cans and paper, but nowhere to dispose of unwanted food? There was a bottle of dish liquid on hand for the dishes, but no dish cloth/sponge available for cleanup. No shower cap in the bathroom either so bring your own ladies. During breakfast, there was a Passion Fruit Cocktail drink that was loaded with sugar which I refused to drink. I opted for a hot tea instead. There were a lot of plates and leftovers being left on the tables. As slow as the gentleman came to clean off the tables, the guests scooped up the seats. The shuttle leaves every 30 mins on the hour and on the half hour so give yourself extra time when planning your trip back to the airport.

The hotel is easy to get to from MIA and FLL airports. While not located within walking distance of anything -- located off the MIA airport in an industrial area, the facilities and room quality more than make up for this. The hotel is well kept and attractive -- reason why have stayed for a third time in 12 months. Pool area and gym are well maintained and clean. The morning breakfast has a very good assortment of food and beverages -- a notch above other moderately priced "business" or airport vicinity hotels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WineAdvisoryGroup Good Quiet Spot a Shuttle Away from MIA
The hotel is located in a remote area that is very quiet. No businesses there, so if you don't have a car you're sort of isolated. I liked the fact that it was away from the hustle bustle of the airport. There is parking all around the gated property.
The front desk staff is young, learning, but very friendly and eager to please. In fact, pretty much all the staff I met seemed to be on an "opening high"... all had a great attitude which was very nice.
The place is brand spankin new... with the Element look, ie. very modern, stark, a lot of white. The pool, located just off the main lobby, appeared to be open.
My room was upgraded (Platinum) to a room with a king bed and a small living room area with sofabed and 2nd tv, separated by a wall. Also had an efficiency kitchen with a full size fridge, microwave, toaster, plates, glasses, a few pots/pans, etc. and a view of the small pond/lake? in the back. The hotel appears to be in the flight path, after takeoff, as you see planes climbing as they approach the hotel. It was pretty loud but didn't really bother me as I had to get up early anyway. There was also a desk sort of separating the living room space and the kitchen.
Breakfast in the morning, located in the lobby area, was simple and ok, nicely presented. There was scrambled eggs, breads, yogurts, cereals, juice.
I liked their electric coffee machine for espresso.
I like this option for a stay in conjunction with a flight at MIA but would look further if you are in need of a full service hotel or will be spending more time in Miami.
Was perfect for my purposes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KEdge Hotel needs work in a few areas
This place is HARD to find. You can not use your GPS 25th street does not go through and the detour is tricky to follow especially at midnight when we arrived. The hallways to the rooms look like prison, very dark grey and bland. And the carpet had stains already and only open a year. The worst part was breakfast Sunday morning. The place was packed and the staff was seemingly short. There were unclean tables all about and the front desk was overwhelmed. I am sure Mon through Friday this is a great spot. For the points I was happy, but if I paid cash I would have been more upset. It was only for one night so if all you need is a one day stay it is fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Aaron29 Let me say something.....
The hotel is great and very clean. One problem I have is that they are currently doing construction to the airport which directly affects the hotel. There was no mention of this on the website, booking, emails, or any other notion. When I got to the hotel, I asked the lady at the front desk who meet me with a laugh and continued on checking me in. The room was great, it had a full kitchen which was great considering there is nothing within walking distance to eat. Not that you would want to walk, as 2 blocks away was not the nicest neighborhood. With this being said I would stay again but only at a cheaper price and if I bring my own food to cook with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazamazon16 Great hotel experience for Miami airport
Wonderful stay at this hotel. Staff was fantastic - accommodated my need to check-in early with no issues. Common areas are open and airy.
Rooms are large, most importantly beds are comfortable and loved the kitchen aspect since we were staying for a week.
Breakfast is tasty, and their espresso machine is fantastic. While located near the airport, hardly ever heard the planes and enjoyed the river view. Good fitness center for hotel.
I read all the reviews prior to moving to the Element, and they are accurate.
Coconut Groves (downtown and Bay area) only 20 minutes away - and Coral Gables about 25 minutes (not in rush hour.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by EFRO My first Element experience, a bit disappointed
The location was not th best, felt like. Warehouse in an industrial park. The parking/access is not convenient. Too many green car spots by the entrance (people usually arrive on rental cars so all were empty), property had access gates bt were always open, after walking around the building not the front with my luggage had to do it all again to put a parking ticket in the dash. Tv was not working, had to call maintenance whi fix it while there but next time I turned it on it did not work again. Staff was not properly trained on how to handle these inconveniences. Ild recommend taking out the Westin reference...

Rated 4 out of 5 by EnglishTim Great location and great value
Efficient welcome, but no mention of SPG status, not that that worries me, but it's one of the questions above. Room had every facility and more that most guests could want, even filtered drinking water, which appealed to me as that's my type of business! Pool and gym looked good, but didn't use them.
Breakfast had plenty of choices and was free, but I didn't care for the disposable plates. Free half-hourly shuttle to airport. Bed very comfortable, not much aircraft noise, shower not as powerful as I would have liked, but would definitely return and we are doing so in two weeks. Have requested a room with a pool view.

I love element hotels - concept and amenities. We stayed here because of this. We didn't rent a car because we assumed there would be something in walking distance, but there wasn't. The neighborhood felt unsafe. The shuttle drivers were on the phone on personal calls each time we got in. If you need an overnight stay before or after a flight this is ok - would not stay more than 1 day at this hotel.

We have stayed here previously. We left our car while we went on a cruise. The parking and hotel are totally enclosed inside a security fence. This is a great place to stay if you are cruising or flying out of town. Shuttle service to cruise port or airport for nominal fee. Very clean and modern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by VroomVroom Modern hotel conveniently located near airport
Element Miami International Airport is overall a good hotel considering its location. I stayed here for one night with my partner and was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite based on my Platinum elite status. The room featured all the necessities of a contemporary living space, including a fully functioning kitchen. It faced an outdoor pool with a lake in the backdrop. Complimentary breakfast was served in the morning and it was fine for the hotel concept. I would stay here again if I needed to be by the airport. Complimentary shuttle service is provided as well. Just keep in mind there is nothing to do around the hotel, and after breakfast you'll be on your own when it comes to food.

On Thursday night I arrived back to the hotel about 10 pm to find that there was no electricity in the hotel. Apparently it had been out since 5pm and they had no idea of when it might come back on. That meant no AC in Miami which is unbearable. I had to leave the hotel to find power to charge my cell phone and continue to do some work. The staff didn't offer any solutions other that giving me a flashlight. They didn't offer to move me to another hotel or didn't offer to provide any compensation. When I checked out, they took my SPG# and said that they would TRY to get me some additional points.

This is a complete extended stay style hotel.
Pro's the hotel is new, rooms feature everything for extended stay, very good staff, free breakfast.
Con's they charge for parking, local construction makes it difficult to get to location.
I have stay at most of the hotels in this area because of business and family travel and this is my first choice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Relay Not impressed with Element
This is a new hotel in a run down industrial area close to Miami Airport. There are no restaurants or cafes within walking distance - not that you'd want to venture outside the security fencing and electric gates after dark. This makes it a very unwise choice for anyone who wants to use it for anything more than just a place to sleep as there is no restaurant at the hotel.
Reception staff were pleasant enough but clearly new to the job. If you are an SPG member expect NIL recognition - we were given a dirty room at the furthest end of a (very long) corridor. We had to drag our luggage all the way back to reception to ask for another room. Our second room was better in that it was at least clean but we soon realised that being close to the take off runway meant a constant stream of airliners passing over the hotel with engines at full throttle.
The in room kitchen facilites were disappointing - no electric hob as shown in the Element promotional video only a microwave, sink and fridge (which made a strange crackling noise when it was running).
The bathroom was spacious with a large shower cubicle and complimentary shower gel and shampoo in large dispensers on the wall. Both hand and bath towels provided although we had to use the hand towels to mop up the water leaking from the shower tray. Clearly a construction fault as a friend staying in another room had the same problem.
There's a large bed with trademark Westin linens (ie.good quality) although our Heavenly bed had the topper missing. Our friend confirmed it was also missing in his room too. Despite being a new hotel there were some curious stains on the corridor carpets and they looked as if they could do with a good hoovering.
Breakfast was disappointing. Lukewarm coffee, rubbery scrambed eggs and cold sausages. We left our "hot offering" and concentrated on bagels, cereals and fruit. Staff were refilling the containers but very little interaction with the guests.
For a Starwood Hotel I thought this place was poor. The Element concept is a great idea and there's clearly a market for Green Lodgings in the US but please don't confuse being environmentally friendly with poor standards of housekeeping, absentee management and little real customer recognition or care.

Checked in on a Wednesday evening. As noted, the hotel is situated in a seeming industrial area, with limited/no amenities in the immediate vicinity. Service at the front desk was slow as there was another guest checking in ahead of me; however, was upgraded to a one bedroom suite. Overnight parking was $9. The room itself was generously sized and fairly comfortable, although I did take advantage of the kitchen. One downside was the numerous stains (of different colors and types) on the couch, which effectively rendered it unusable. Air conditioning worked well, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious with a large walk-in shower and plenty of hot water. Check out was simple and my bill was correct.

Element Hotel is convenient to the Miami Airport and their Park and Stay rate make it a great choice when an early morning flight is in your plans. Park and stay rates are comparable to the airport parking rates and you do not have to hunt for a spot. The complimentary hot breakfast and free shuttle makes your trip start out stress free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ferrocastor Comfortable, green hotel near airport, intermodal center
I had a very enjoyable stay at the Element Miami Airport. I appreciated the many sustainable features of its construction and operation. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff were attentive and the breakfasts were great, as was the selection of food items in the "pantry" behind the front desk.
My only complaint is that the hotel's complimentary shuttle service does not serve the Miami Amtrak station, which I discovered after waiting 45 minutes at the Amtrak station for a shuttle and then having to take a taxi. This will be a moot point when Amtrak begins serving the Miami Intermodal Center, two blocks from the hotel, in mid-2014, but it still would have been nice, as the Amtrak station is just a half a mile outside the stated range for the shuttle service.

We had to catch an early flight so we decided to stay one night near the airport after giving up the rental car. The room was clean and roomy with excellent kitchen facilities, way more than I expected for a short stay near the airport. There was a fully equipped exercise facility and prompt courteous service by the front desk staff and the airport shuttle drivers. We were offered breakfast with the room accommodation, but unfortunately, we could not take advantage of it due to the very early hour of our flight. If the opportunity arises I definitely would stay here again

Twice a year my wife and I travel to our 2nd home in the Caribbean from the .Southwest. We carry frozen and fresh foods that we cannot buy on the island. What a wonderful convenience to have a small refrigerator in the room to keep things fresh and frozen before our next travel day. We sleep in an extremely comfortable bed, and are treated the next morning to one of the finest complimentary breakfasts anywhere. We've stayed at countless places around the airport over the last 17 years but after discovering The Element, we have now found exactly what we needed!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by olynne LOVE THIS HOTEL, great design wonderful beds, but
The Element at MIA has become our favorite place to stay in MIami, when traveling to and from MIA. Great staff and super rooms. I have one problem that will probably not keep me from returning. Several months ago we were sleeping and awaken at 4 AM by a malfunction of the fire alarm system. There was no way you could be inside the hotel without hurting your ears. At that time we were told to mention this on our next stay and would receive some sort of compensation ( nothing specific) We have stayed there twice since and mentioned the promise but nothing?? I realize that the front desk can't do anything but then they should have not said they would. Still like this hotel even though this issue has not been addressed properly.

I checked in on Friday and could not have been more impressed with the friendly staff and amazing facility. The shuttle will take you wherever within the 3 mile radius and the shuttle drivers are very helpful with giving you options to get around town. Our driver Elvis made conversation and was very personable. The breakfast was really great but they do clean up right at 10AM so don't be late! The rooms were great and I didn't meet a staff member that wasn't pleasant. I stay in Miami at least 4 times a year and this was the best staff I have encountered!
