WHITE PLAINS, NY – November 20, 2007 – According to the Air Transport
Association, more than 2.5 million passengers are expected to travel on the day
before Thanksgiving, a statistic that has many holiday travelers bracing for
long lines and lots of hassles on the way to grandma’s house. In
response, Four Points by Sheraton and U.S. Airways are putting a slice of
simple pleasureSM back into the travel experience by offering
complimentary apple pie to passengers on this Wednesday, the busiest travel day
of the year. How so? Four Points is appointing “Pie-lots” to
distribute thousands of slices of pie to travelers at one of the nation’s
busiest airports.
For the last year, Four Points by Sheraton has been sweetening air travel by
offering First Class US Airways passengers freshly baked pies in keeping with
its Pie in the Sky program. On Wednesday, November 21, Four Points
by Sheraton takes it a step further by giving everyone a head start on
Thanksgiving dessert - no worries about saving room this year! Four Points by
Sheraton “Pie-lot” crews will be located throughout the US Airways terminal at
New York’s LaGuardia International Airport as they are available in Four Points
around the world. Pie-lots will distribute individually packaged slices
of freshly baked Thanksgiving pies to passengers at curbside check-in, inside
the departures terminal at check-in gates and, of course, outside the security
checkpoints to make the wait in line a little sweeter.
“The pleasure and excitement of travel has increasingly been taken away from
air passengers in recent years,” said Sandy Swider, vice president of Four
Points by Sheraton. “Gone are the days of in-flight pillows, blankets and
warm food, so we wanted to bring passengers the simple pleasure of enjoying a
slice of apple pie while flying on the most stressful travel day of the
year.”
