Four Points by Sheraton Tirupati
Local Area

Situated in the foothills of the Eastern Ghats in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati is a major destination for culture and pilgrimages. The Four Points by Sheraton Tirupati is conveniently located just 12 kilometres from Tirupati Airport (TIR).

Many temples are located in and around Tiraputi and nearby Tirumala. The hotel is just minutes from the famous Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple. Dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and drawing millions of Hindu devotees each year, it is one of the world’s most important pilgrimage centres. Other notable temples include Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, ISKCON, and Sri Govindarajaswami Temple.

More history can be found at the 11th-century Chandragiri Fort, located approximately 14 kilometres from town. A museum houses metal and stone sculptures dating back to the second century B.C., an old armoury, and other relics. For a sense of nature, stroll around Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park, Asia’s second-largest zoo. The park is home to many animals and bird species, including parakeets, mynas, ducks, geese, flamingos, swans, and pelicans. The 82-metre Talakona Waterfall is the state’s tallest.

Tirupati hosts numerous colourful festivals throughout the year. The most popular is Brahmotsavam, which draws millions of visitors for a week each September.

In addition to religious photos, copper or brass idols, and other sacred items, Tirupati is famous for its red wooden toys, which can be purchased at local markets. Sample some of the city’s delicious spicy vegetarian thali, indigenous rice dishes, and famous sweets, including laddu, sheermal, and halwa.
