Built in 1591 by city founder Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, it is deemed the Arc de Triomphe of the East. Its four minarets soar to a height of more than 48 metres, creating a grand entrance to its 45 prayer spaces and mosque. Also noteworthy are the stately Chowmahalla Palace, built by a Qutb Shahi sultan, and the imposing stone mosque Mecca Masjid. Known for its acoustics, palaces, and innovative water-supply system, the 13th-century Golconda Fort is also home to the famed Fateh Rahben Cannon. More history can be found at the Persian-style Taramati Baradari.
