Four Points by Sheraton Dehradun
La région

Set in north India’s Doon Valley, between the mighty Ganges and Yamuna rivers, Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand state. The Four Points by Sheraton Dehradun is conveniently located in the heart of town on its main street, Rajpur Road. Jolly Grant Airport (DED) is less than an hour away by car, and the Dehradun Railway Station can be reached in just 15 minutes.

Dehradun boasts its own attractions and is a gateway to pilgrimage and tourist destinations in the upper and lower Himalayas, including the hill station of Mussoorie, the yoga centre of Rishikesh, and the holy Hindu centre of Haridwar. Dehradun is surprisingly compact, and walking is the best way to discover the city and its picturesque landscape. See the remains of the iconic British-built Clock Tower on Rajpur Road. More history can be found at the Kalinga War Memorial on Sahastradhara Road. Erected by the British to honour the Ghurkhas, it is only war memorial of its kind in the world. The coveted Indian Military Academy has a lovely small museum filled with 20th-century military artefacts. The Tibetan Buddhist Temple and Sai Darbar Temple are both popular attractions, as are the four small temples around town known as Char Siddhs.

Robber’s Cave is another top attraction. Also known as Guchchu Pani, this scenic area is home to a cave, hills, and a stream. The nearby museum at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is also worth a visit. Enjoy the dripping caves and soak in the cold sulphur water spring Sahastradhara, which is believed to have medicinal properties. Near the spring, the Baldi River is also thought to be therapeutic. In addition to river rafting, more nature can be found at the Forest Research Institute.

Famous for its fragrant Basmati rice, Dehradun is also known for its traditional knives known as khukris, and woollen items made by local hill tribe communities and weavers. Look for these and other unique items in the lively Paltan Bazaar, at the Indra Market, or on Rajpur Road.
