One of China’s cultural gems for some 3,500 years, Wuhan is the provincial capital of Hubei Province. Showcasing natural landscape views and just a few minutes on foot from district government offices, the Four Points by Sheraton Wuhan, Jiangxia is conveniently located on Wenhua Road in the center of the new Jiangxia District. The Wuhan Economic Development Zone is just across the river, and the East Lake High-Tech Development Zone is a few minutes north of the hotel. Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (WUH) is an hour’s drive away, and the Wuchang Railway Station can be reached in just 30 minutes.
Explore Wuhan’s numerous attractions, starting with the Hubei Provincial Museum. The museum not only contains interesting artifacts, including a concert bell set excavated from ancient tombs, but also hosts performances of ancient music and dance. The Rock and Bonsai Museum’s mounted stones, enormous quartz crystal, and peaceful outdoor bonsai garden are also worth seeing.
For panoramas of Yangtze River, visit the famous Yellow Crane Tower. Dating back to 223 A.D., this historic landmark is one of the Four Great Towers of China. Visitors can admire its displays and age-old inscriptions, and also strike the temple’s large bell. More serenity can be found at the Guiyuan Buddhist Temple, an important shrine with impressive sculptures and Buddhist doctrines.
For a relaxing taste of nature, visit the massive East Lake. Its shores have many scenic spots, including parks, plum gardens, a bamboo forest, a bird sanctuary, and recreation areas. Evening entertainment abounds in Wuhan, especially on vibrant Jiqing Street. The area is home to many seafood and alfresco restaurants, pushcarts serving street food, and roving street performers.
