Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Hotel in a convenient location Solid hotel in the heart of San Jose. Perfect for business. September 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Barretts Nice quiet room as requested. Very nice to have free water daily. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner at adjoining restaurant was very good and their staff were great as well. Location was perfect for our needs. Able to walk or take the light rail to our destinations. Will plan to return again. July 17, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good front desk service but poor maintenance I started my stay in room 306. The first night, I ordered dinner to be brought to my room; the fork was dirty and the wooden tray was sticky. Also, the batteries of the handset of the phone in my room were dead so I had to go down to the hotel restaurant to order it myself; a technician came by to verify, but they could be replaced only the next day. The next morning, I discovered I could not lock my valuables in the safe, since the batteries of that had run out as well. Upon request, that did get fixed by the time I came back in the evening. The TV and coffee seem to be on a tray that can be pulled out of the closet for easy access, but the tray was either stuck or fixed. The ventilation in the bathroom was poor, so after taking a shower, the mirror remained foggy for a long time and the room became humid, even when opening the window as much as possible. When I returned to my room early at 3 PM on the 5th day of my stay, I was met with a pungent smell of pot upon entering the room. I decided to give whoever caused it the benefit of the doubt, but when I left and came back from dinner at 10 PM, the smell was even stronger, probably entering through the ventilation system. Not wanting to be accused of smoking myself, I called the front desk; Timothy came up and confirmed the smell to be pot. He did kindly transfer me to a suite (room 330). I declined his offer to help me move my stuff, because his service had already been impeccable and more than sufficient, but when I did it myself and got to the suite, I could already hear my neighbors from the hallway. For over 4 hours straight they had the loudest intercourse I've ever witnessed. I'm happy they had a good time, but you'd expect especially a suite to be well sound proofed. In particular, the window could not be fully closed. Despite being all the way down and securely locked, I could feel a constant breeze of air entering on the sides, so the room cooled down at night and it was much more noisy than room 306. On the morning when I checked out, as I was preparing my suitcase, I found a cap of a bottle of ice tea on the ground in the corner of the room, so the room hadn't been cleaned as well as I'd expect. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice hotel, comfortable stay This hotel is awesome. Cute, clean room. Met my every expectation. The only set back was when my bf and I came back to the hotel around 11:30pm and expected to grab another drink at the bar, the restaurant was closed. February 22, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Older hotel with great downtown SJ location The Four Points in downtown San Jose is a historic little hotel located within walking distance to office buildings, bars and restaurants, San Pedro Square, and the Convention Center. It is an older hotel so it lacks some of the modern appeal of other SPG properties like a fancy lounge or free coffee in the lobby. The interior decor of the rooms has some interesting leather square patterned walls, but I will say this hotel has the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in out of several downtown San Jose hotels. The staff goes above and beyond in terms of friendliness - I've stayed at this hotel consistently for the past month while traveling for work, and Tim at the front desk is always happy to accommodate any request. The hotel also has outdoor self parking only but I've never had an issue with finding a space to park when I arrive. I love being within walking distance of everything downtown and not having to deal with trying to park my car on the street. I also liked that the front desk proactively asked about the "Green" initiative at check in, I appreciate that the hotel is making a conscious effort to save water during the drought! Rated 1 out of 5 by Professionalism I did not like a staff attitude that I suggested to him being so disappointed about the system that I did not like. His response was unprofessional and lost the four point face and a hotel training quality. November 21, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by LITTLE DOWNTOWN GEM OVERALL IMPRESSION: Using the parameters of a four-star property, this refurbished historic hotel ticks all the boxes. SPG RECOGNITION: As much as any select-service property. THE ROOM: Standard “motel” room but with a little design flair LOCATION: Great downtown setting seconds from the pedestrian mall and major attractions like the Technology Museum. Ample parking. EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS: While quite informal in a West Coast way, the staff were all pleasant and delightfully accommodating. ONE THING TO KNOW: While not comparable in terms of luxury, this little guy offers an economical alternative to the 5-star heavies that surround it. October 17, 2015
