Amazingly comfortable beds, room reminds of a Motel 6, hallways require updates, beautiful pond area in the center of the building.

We've stayed at the Sheraton Four Points Pleasanton, Calif. no less than four times. It's one of our favorite places and it's always been great.
That's why this time, a few things needed attention-none of them so problematic that they would stop us staying again.
First, the hotel offers room service and that's not something we do very often, so we thought we'd treat ourselves. We filled out the menu in our room and hung it on our door. Next morning, the menu was indeed gone--but breakfast never came.
When I finally called the room service number, I was told that they never received our menu-never heard of our order. They were at this point backed up and ordering would have taken more than 30 minutes. We declined.
Either someone stole the menu off the door (unlikely since the building is locked from the outside-unless another guest purposely stole our menu--why? Or the security guard charged with the task didn't do what he was supposed to--or the restaurant staff simply didn't want to do it. Whatever. It made for an unhappy morning.
In addition, the room, while overall acceptable, had a few pieces of trash lying around from a previous guest that apparently the cleaning service missed. It's a little thing--but it makes you feel something like, "well, what else did they miss?"
Also, the spa next to the pool--a real draw at this property, didn't work properly. The water was hot--but the jets didn't work and so basically, it was an outdoor bathtub.
So-we'll probably stay again, but to be quite frank-if several of these little things show up again, we'll have to reconsider.

I checked in on Saturday evening around 10 pm for a 2 night stay. I had reserved a King NS and upon check in, I could sense that there was a problem with the reservation. The front desk representative was nice enough but she wanted Ashreen (her supervisor) to take a look at the reservation. Ashreen checks on the computer and tells me that they will be putting me in a 2 double NS. I asked her what happened to the King and she informed me that the hotel was overbooked. They would be able to accommodate our king request for the night but would have to move us the next night. I opted to stay in the 2 doubles to avoid having to move. After my keys were given to me, I asked the front desk gal if they offered complimentary breakfast to their platinum members and she informed me that I could either choose breakfast or points. Ashreen stepped in quickly and offered me a complimentary breakfast for the trouble that I experienced at check in which I appreciated. I just wish that the the gal who assisted would have known to offer that to me rather than having Ashreen step in. After all, an inconvenience is an inconvenience. Upon entering our room, I noticed that the table where the alarm clock was, was not cleaned properly. There were obvious oil stains on the table top which I had to clean. I did call the front desk to alert them of the lack of cleaning in the room. The next night we returned back to our room at approximately 7 pm and upon entering our building (#400), there was a strong scent of marijuana in the hallway leading to the rooms and the hallways were drenched with the scent. Given that I am allergic to smoke and I have a child with me, among OTHER reasons, I immediately called downstairs to alert them of the situation. I'm not sure how this was handled but within 45 minutes, the smell had disappated. The hotel should really make a point to have security roam the buildings to check for such activity. It certainly does not make for a pleasant stay for the guests who no not partake in such activities and who have young kids. Lastly, while being in our room the last night, I had the pleasure of killing about 8 gnats in a period of 30 minutes. Given that it was our last night there and at this point, I was a bit over our stay at hotel, I did not bother to call the front desk to share yet another complaint. The restaurant staff is very nice and attentive and although the front desk staff is courteous, I would hope that they would be more accommodating to the guests, platinum or other, without having the guests inquire as to the benefits of having member status.
