This was the second summer I visited. Last year I had a great room with an ocean view at no extra cost. I'm a platinum SPG member, and the staff didn't seem to care; I arrived to a basement room with wheelchair access (I did not request that) no view, and they didn't allow my late check out (guaranteed for platinum members). They were booked solid, but they should have some form of reward for client loyalty. If you're not going to give late check out, room upgrades, or SOME kind of reward for customer loyalty, why should I go out of my way to stay at a Starwood?! I won't be going back. It's a nice, but poorly run, hotel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Apopka Room with a view and soft sand
Since it was off-season and cold we did not get to enjoy all the things we wanted to do. But the hotel was very nice, the room had an excellent view of the beach. We used the heated pool, and played beach volleyball. We had to go buy the ball because the hotel did not have one, so that was disappointing. Destin being close was nice for the boardwalk and restaurants. Our family enjoyed the hotel and want to go back in the summer.

Exceeded my expectations - staff and amenities were fantastic! Staff was professional, friendly and very attentive. Room was great - beautiful view (we chose beachfront), spacious, nice beds, linens, free internet, nice sized refrigerator, free bottled water, great parking. Loved the property - so many activities for people of all ages and numerous places for small or large groups to gather and visit with one another. Breakfast buffet was delicious and wait staff was very good. The ability to text drink and food orders while on the beach was AWESOME! A big shout out to Terrance, Jasmine, Krisena, Ray and all the others that made our stay perfect!

The best part of this hotel is the location. It is right on the beach and also located well for getting around the town. This is our second time here. We had a beach front room. The positives were location and a clean, nice room. The negatives were the toilet overflowed not once but twice. They fixed it very promptly but we ended up cleaning the bathroom. The food in the restaurant was ok at best.

The Hotel was very nice when you walk in. Staff was super friendly. We received our free room upgrade to an ocean view room and they threw in free breakfast for the wait, which in all honesty wasn't too long. They brought us extra pillows when we asked. Room service was fast! The Beach is beautiful and we were able to use the covered parking garage, definitely a +. Also had the heated pool and spa open in February, my children loved that.

This was our second stay at this property. Front desk staff much improved in terms of helpfulness but there are still management issues. For example, lunch is served only at outdoor shack. They apparently got a little busy so bartender on his own decided to stop serving lunch for 1 1/2 hours at lunch time. Told me kids would have to wait until 3pm to eat. We had to leave property. Also, on checkout they tried to refuse late checkout because housekeeping wanted to leave early. It wasn't until I explained that the maid couldn't re-write corporate policy that they relented. The hotel could be great but just isn't there yet.

The hotel was outstanding. The room was perfect. The staff was courteous. The only exception was the breakfast. The breakfast had been sitting out for hours by the time we made it down to eat. If I'm paying for a breakfast (and I was) I expect it to be fresh when I eat. We left to eat at Waffle House if that tells you anything. When I informed the staff they seemed less than concerned. But other than this one minor issue, it was a great hotel and overall good experience.
