Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Beds! I loved this hotel! Everything was great, from the bell staff, to the wonderful beds! October 9, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Staff was great. Not sure about the entire hotel but at least on the 7th floor it had a very moldy smell in the hallway and in the room. The sofa in the room seemed to have the same smell. Not sure if there was water damage on this floor or not but the smell seemed to indicate there had been. Bathroom was very small and offered no counter-space. October 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 Jenelle and Lydia were AWESOME!! My family and I had an amazing time at the Read House! Jenelle and Lydia took care of us and treated us so well on my birthday get a way. This place has true southern hospitality and a great place to be pampered. My only disappointment, which is very minor, was the hot tub was closed. October 7, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing I have stayed at this property many times in the past. It's never been exemplary in any manner but my most recent stay was ridiculously unacceptable. First, as I checked into the hotel, there was only ONE desk clerk when there was a line of 4 people waiting. Then the clerk made me stand and wait to be checked in while she dealt with an airline representative who was dropping off luggage for a guest. Once I was finally checked in and I went upstairs to my room, I was shocked to find the room not cleaned. There were empty soda, beer and liquor boxes and other trash left in a closet. Also left in the closet was a foil pan with fried chicken and baked beans, obviously left over from a party. The next morning, upon pulling back the shower curtain, there was hair in the floor of the shower stall. Long, dark, quite obvious if the housekeeping staff had bothered to look in the shower to see if it needed cleaning. September 26, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 by Have stayed in better I wasn't impressed. The rooms were tiny, bathrooms even smaller. Its inconvenient to to between rooms because you have to go down then walk across the lobby, hop on another elevator and go back up. I had the worst time booking my reservation and it didn't even get right until I complained at check out. September 24, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by comfy rooms The guest rooms were very spacious and comfortable as well as clean. The hotel location was great also. We only had issues with the attitude of the Valet service when checking out and with the cleanliness of the elevators near the pool. We did not use the other set of elevators. September 19, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible I had high expectations for this hotel as it is a historical site, however, the site left me with much disappointment. The rooms are in dire need of updating, including the peeling wallpaper, dirty floors, dirty bathrooms, etc. I paid for access to the concierge lounge, however, they failed to tell their patrons that the lounge is closed on the weekends! This is misleading and should certainly be addressed immediately and stated on their website. When checking in, the staff was helpful and stated that we could go up to the lounge and get water. After a long day out, I went up to the lounge and tried to get water. Since I could not access the refridgerator, I called the front desk. Whomever answered the phone was VERY rude and should NOT be in customer service as they told me I should not be there and cut me off everytime I tried responding to her questions. Rediculous! I will NEVER stay there again - in fact, this has tainted my view on Starwood Hotels. September 19, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great location check in flwaless, valet was professional and all staff was very friendly. September 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Home Away From Home My son lives in Chattanooga, TN, so when I visit him, I always stay at the Seraton Read House. It really is my "Home away from home." I can always depend on the Seraton from the beginning to the end of my trip. Beginning with courteous boys who park my car and bring my luggage to the wonderful staff who remember me to my extra comfortable room (no pillows as comfortable anywhere) to the hot, strong shower to the club room to the restaurant downstairs with white linen table cloths and wonderful food to the free Internet to the spotless, impressive lobby. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! September 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional Front Desk staff Absolutely the best Sheraton I have stayed in with its Southern charm throughout from the comfortable room to the classic telephone booths in the lobby. It is central to everything downtown with convenient valet parking and the terrific Porter restaurant. Special thank you to the front desk staff, Ashlee and Courtney, whose genuine Chattanooga charm made my stay pleasant as they helped me navigate around the local attractions. September 16, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Surprise in Choo Choo My first stay at this hotel. I just checked in. This a very nice surprise. This hotel is stately and maintained well. This hotel is better than a category 2 hotel and a great deal for using points. I got upgraded to a junior suite which is very nice and spacious. Ok, the bathroom is not very large, but that is expected at a historic property. So far people are very friendly and service is good. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful, even though I checked in after midnight. I am on a short business trip and this is exactly what I needed. Book it with confidence! September 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by A Great Night's Sleep We visited during the Labor Day Holiday and our overall experience was very nice. We were disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of order; especially since we had called prior to making our reservation to verify amenities, room size, etc. However, our room was quite roomy and the bed and bedding were FANTASTIC! As soon as my head hit the pillow, I didn't want to get up. The location of the hotel is great as it is in walking distance of so many restaurants and activities. September 8, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Neat Historic Hotel This was my second time staying at the Read House hotel. The Valet are great and the staff is always friendly and professional. It is an old historic hotel and therefore the bathrooms are a bit small but I enjoyed the uniqueness of the rooms. The beds are comfortable and everything was very clean. I must say the club lounge is very bad. Both times I have been there the evening offerings were stale and soggy and looked like the same food was put out every night. Breakfast is simple and mostly pre packaged. I will stay again but not bother with the lounge September 8, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great staff One of the most delightful stays I've ever had. The staff was warm, friendly, and very professinal. All had a "what can I do to help" attitude. I was given an upgrade on request, allowed to use the business center AFTER I had checked out, and was given printed directions to my destination by the front desk, when my GPS malfunctioned. Rated 1 out of 5 by Unhappy Guest I booked a room at this hotel about a week to a week and a half in advance. Apparently, I was no better off. As soon as I got there to check in, the front desk clerk told me that since they were so booked up, they had to put us in a tiny room (pinching her fingers with about an inch of space between); stating there was that little space between the bed and tv (and bed and wall). She offered us free breakfast to make up for this. Now had she just welcomed us and made it sound like they were giving us free breakfast without mentioning the room was tiny in comparison to others, we never would have known! Then the air unit was showing 60 degrees; well it was more like 76. It was humid and the floor felt damp. We called and they sent an "engineer" to fix the unit. He told us to wait 30 minutes. It was just as bad off as when we got there. They offered us free Starbucks, however that does not make up for paying for an expensive room to sweat all night and barely move past the tv and bed to get to the bathroom. After entirely too much back and forth on the phone, they offered to move us. So they did have a regular room available?! It took them a good hour to move us. Will not stay here again! Book elsewhere! Somewhere with updated units! They need customer service training as well. September 5, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs maintenance The door lock would not work most of the time. Also, the a/c was very noisy but with all the noise and partying ( I think there was a wedding and/or reception taking place that night ), it blocked the noise making it easier to fall asleep. September 5, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Staff I usually stay at a Sheraton when I travel & I have never been so pleased with customer service. The woman at the front desk was helpful & delightful, the bartender at the hotel restaurant/bar was very nice & friendly, & the valet guys were wonderful. Very impressed. September 4, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible Experience We had stayed at the Read House before so we were shocked by the incredibly bad experience we had at the front desk. Heidi was rude, abrupt and ectremely unhelpful. We upgraded to have the Club-only to find out that it was closed Saturday and Sunday. I was given a card to the Club and fround that there was nothing there-not even a glass of water. The person at the front desk did not inform us of this and was extremely acted extremely put out when I asked about it. It was nothing less than false advertising. My wife and I were so upset by the treatment that we received that we left the hotel. We would never stay there again nor recommend it to our friends and associates. September 4, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Quick stay We had a one night stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, we were disappointed when they did not have the room type we reserved available when we arrived. We were then given a Junior Suite but again were disappointed by its size -- extremely small. And, the bathroom did not have any counter space at all. It was very difficult to put on makeup with all your supplies resting on the lip of the sink. September 1, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by wonderful stay We had a wonderful stay . They staff was very helpful the rooms were clean and the swimming pool was great for the girls. The guys in the valet parking are wonderful. They helped us and told us where to go the entire trip. We will be coming back. August 30, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Quality lacking I had heard good things about the Sheraton hotels but my stay was below expectation. The room did not come with a fridge, the bed was not on the foundation, it rocked back and forth, the AC unit did not distribute air across the room, it pointed in the direction of the curtain and was not adjustable to below 60 degrees. The pipes were all visible under the sink, the toilet was missing bolts. The only "good" thing about this hotel is that the hotel is on the the shuttle route. We did not use the pool or fitness center but I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. August 29, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Old Building This is a nice old building in a great location...SPG recognition was terrific...upgrade to a suite...overall a very good property for Chattanooga...would stay here again August 21, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Facilities need improvement Hallway to room smelled like mildew. The pool had way to much cholorine. The service was exceptional. Fix the pool and whirlpool and I think you would have an exceptional hotel. Great location. Beautiful entry. Love Georgian Architecture woodwork. August 21, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Staff was wonderful! Thank you to the staff of Read House Hotel in Chattanooga for making things easy for me, a grandmother traveling with 5 grandchildren. From my first phone call you were attentive and provided excellent personal attention. Unlike your competitors, who could not guarantee ajoining rooms, your staff understood the importance of my needs and delivered! The bathrooms are a little out of date - which is why I gave you a good on room cleanliness. The beds were super comfortable! Room service was excellent and I love that the person you spoke too was almost always the one who took care of your needs. For instance, kudos to the bellman/valet who spoke to me about retrieving a phone charger from my car and hand delivered to our room within 10 minutes! Thanks for a great stay! August 18, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Fabulous Historic Hotel My favorite place to stay in Chattanooga, but the rooms could use an upgrade as could the HVAC system. Still, the lobby is fabulous, and it has so much character missing in the other local hotels. August 12, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by The hotel is beautiful Beautiful site for a wedding reception, however staff was lacking, service needs improvement Loved Porter's Steak House August 10, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by unsatisfactory We were given two rooms on the SPG floor; 6th floor. Upon disembarking the elevator there is an old musty smell. We went to the vending area and the area where there would have been soda/ snack vending had obvious signs of water damage... vending had been removed. Ice machine was still present. One room had a large hole in the carpet where it meets the entry tile. The window seal was broken for so long that you could barely see out of the window. there was obvious signs of continuing water damage above the window. The bath tub finish was worn away. It looked as though refinish repair was attempted which had also worn away. Grout was dirty and broken. Shower flow was good. Beds squeak upon slightest movement. Robe in closet had stain on left sleeve. Other room; repaired water damage above window which is of such poor quality that your attention is immediately drawn to it. Windows had greasy handprints. A/C set at 61F still would not stay on to cool room. No robe in closet. The bath tub finish was worn away. It looked as though refinish repair was attempted which had also worn away. Grout was dirty and broken. Shower flow was good. Beds squeak upon slightest movement. room service; soup, baked potato and soda were highlights. The rest of the food was awful. Service was quick and friendly. Valet service was quick and friendly. Check in was quick and easy. August 9, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Carelessly Updated Recently updated but with little regards to detail. Sloppy painting, restroom had no counter to place anything on, shelf on wall was too small for tissue holder but they sat the holder there anyway... For the price I feel they could have appreciated their patrons by refurbishing with a little more care. Staff was very nice and helpful. Location was very good. Pool was substandard. August 3, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Place to stay! Lovely historic hotel and great location allowed a terrific mini-vacation for our family. I found the staff and facility to be exceptional. Thank you for the complimentary water bottles in the room - I HATE getting charged for a bottle of water when i stay in a hotel. We will recommend to our friends. August 1, 2012
