Very unclean, staff marginally helpful, room not acceptable. Upon checking into the hotel, a used condom was found on the side of the bath tub. Discusting!! Then the towels left for us to use revealed one bloody towel poorly washed. The air conditioning didn't work and a person was sent for a "temporary fix" until the maintanence crew came back to work on Monday. The front desk offered a free drink, 2000 spg points[may have been 3000 points] but no room change or upgrade. Lousy experience.

This particular property just doesn't measure up to other W branded properties. There are noticably fewer staff to greet you, the facilities appear to have lost their luster, and it the glass facade appears run down.
The bed was comfortable, but the carpets are worn, The bathrooms are on par with budget brand hotels and have no fans with ceilngs of 7 ft. high. Makes for a humid room after a shower.
The exercise room is in good order with new machines and is clean with plenty of towels. The pool is small, very small.

The only thing that was good about my stay was the location. It is very conveniently located. I stayed during fourth of July weekend, Thursday to Monday. Upon checkin the room i reserved (king bed) was not available and there was nothing available the entire weekend to switch to. So i was given double beds. When i asked the front desk staff what size were the beds (full or queen) she had no idea. There was a fight outside of my room in which i had to call hotel security for. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the music coming from the room across the hall from mine and anyone that passed by the door. Everything needs to be cleaned and updated. Bathroom fixtures had rust on them. Hotel frequently ran out of clean towels. The hotel is in the process of massive renovations so every morning after late nights in a town that never sleeps I was woken up at 7:30am with drilling, banging, sawing.... you name it. At one point i thought they were going to come through the ceiling of my room. This construction continued nonstop until about 6:45pm EVERYDAY!! It was supposed to be from 9am-6pm which never happened. Bar staff is extremely rude. I went to the bar in the lobby on 3 different days to ask for a cup, water, or ice (1 item on each day) and was told that I could not have it. Who wont give their guest a cup of water!! I would have gladly gone to my room to get any of the three had the elevators worked properly. On average it took about 30 minutes to get up and back down. Basically you couldn't pay me to stay here.

At first things seemed OK with our room. Then I discovered the safe did not work. After security noted it would have to be replaced, that was the last I heard about "the safe." So much for securing my valuables. I then called at 4 PM to have my room made up, upon my return at 11:30 PM NOTHING had been done, I had to call for towels.
Upon receipt of my invoice via email, I discovered there was a minibar charge....which I never used. I opened the refrigerator once to put something in, that was it. Oh, and a hotel that charges for internet.....not for me.

The lobby was uninviting, the bathroom had faulty fixtures, walls had stains.
It is a good location for New Orleans, staff was friendly and helpful. I have stayed at other W hotels, Las Vegas, and was expecting a similar experience, but it was not to be compared. I know that New Orleans has a tough time since Katrina but that should not, at this time since then, be used as a reason for what I see

from the long wait at check in, to the room not being ready by 4:30 to the tub and sinks not draining, to the phones and coffe machine in room not working, to the gym facilities having broken machines or no water even being available, this stay was the tops in disappointment staying with starwood properties.
while the staff was nice generally and would do what ws askeed, it seems that management has really let the ball drop. all behavior is reactive and not pro-active. i can only see myself staying here if no other great hotels are available.

my Mattress sheet was not big enough for the bed so in turn it left about a foot of Mattress and mattress pad exposed. I did my best by covering it with a bath towel so not to be exposed to the Mattress and pad. I also believe the sheet they did cover the bed with not only was to small but old and stained. I did cover this matter with your Manager on duty the following morning on my way out.

The location of the hotel is great. The service in the hotel was great and the room was nice and clean, albeit a bit small. My main gripe with the hotel is how much they charge you for parking ($43/nt), food (~$40 for a burger) and internet (~$17/3 hrs). Ridiculous!

This hotel is very close to the French Quarter. Initially, I confused this hotel with W French Quarter and was worried about the location, but it was only 5-mins walk to the Quarter. When I watched a Preservation Hall performance it was 11 PM but there was no problem coming back to hotel.
One thing that was not very satisfactory was that it was hard to find a supermarket nearby, and the hotel did not have a market where I can buy snacks, beverages and the essentials. It would have been nicer if there was something like that. Otherwise, the staff could inform us affordable options in the neighborhood.

Poor experience at this hotel. First room smelled like smoke, had to request a new room. Requested additional towels, had to call down several times before receiving them. Room was very noisy (pipes making noises, etc) and well below the standard of almost all Starwood properties let alone a W. Was a disappointing end to our family vacation.

I was anxious based on previous reviews. The staff was great from the moment we arrived (after midnight) until we left. Every employee always asked how we were doing, and they helped with every request. Courteous, friendly, exceptional. Room was great, although it could use updating, especially the bathrooms. Pool size was disappointing.

Just got in, and unfortunately the room is terrible. poorly furnished, does not look like it was properly cleaned. Looks dingy. Have stayed in other W hotels and have been happy in the past. Don't know if I got a real bad room or if the whole hotel is this way.

The Westin is usually my preferred of the Starwood properties. I would say that the Courtyard is two levels higher than this hotel. This property is really beyond showing signs of ware. The filth on the air vents and mold visibly showing through the paint was a tremendous turnoff. All rooms have air vents facing the bed so be prepared to get sick, wake with a soar throat, or sweat during the night because air needs to be turned off. Overall cleanliness of the room was extremely sub par compared to what I've seen at other Starwood properties. Certain electronics items were non-functional (i.e. Phone, iPod docking station and radio). Bathrooms were smaller than bathrooms I've experienced in Europe. Sheets and towels both had holes and were dirty. The one redeeming quality was the staff. Staff is very friendly. Relatives of ours stayed in the hotel had to switch rooms immediately upon arrival due to carpet being soaked with urine in one area of the bedroom, not bathroom. Hotel was a rip off and not up to other W standards I've stayed in before. I will not recommend this hotel.

The lobby and entrance of the W is very nice and tranquil. The front desk and gentleman who helped with our luggage...wonderful. But...we ordered towels twice...never received. Our coffee maker did not work which we informed the hotel of, it was never replaced. The walls are extremely thin...you feel like you are sharing your room with every guest on the floor. You heard other guests phones ringing and any guest that was loud and still wanting to party in the late night hours you had to put up with. The hotel is undergoing remodeling, so hopefully they will improve on the sound barriers between the rooms. That was the worst part, that you heard everything going on. It was the worst 3 nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel.

had three rooms at the hotel. Hotel is the most dated W hotel I have ever stayed at. Lobby looks great, rooms awful. I stayed in a WOW suite and WOW should mean, WOW how old and decrepit the rooms look. From the fixtures in the bathroom, to the power strips this property needs an overhaul. One of our rooms had an air conditioning issue the entire stay. There is no way , someone from Starwood could tour this property and have it hold a candle to ANY other.This hotel needs to close for 6 months and RENOVATE!!!!

As star rewards member our king-sized room was upgraded though when we saw the room we were surprised. No dresser, just the drawers in the bedside tables and only 2 chairs, and one of them a desk chair. When the room was cleaned glasses were not replaced and when we asked the maid for clean towels we were told we had to ask at the desk. Items missing from our room - coffee maker and coffee items; iron; extra blanket; and informational brochure on the hotel amenities and things to do while in New Orleans. The Whiskey Blue was very well hidden and rarely open. Most of the personnel there could use personalities and be trained to smile and how to talk to customers. This was one of the worst hotels we have visited. However on the plus side we did have a very good staff to assist us in the lobby area.

I made reservations in December 2013 for July 3-7 2014. Upon arrival I was told renovations were going on. They failed to notifiy me prior to my arrival to give me the opportunity to find other hotel accommodations. The hours of renovations were suppose to be from 10 am to 6 pm daily an construction was on the 16-21 floors, but my husband and I were awakened every morning before 0900 and even at 0730 it sounded like they were above ours heads, and we stayed on the 10th floor. Mind you that this is Essence Weekend and we did not go to bed until 2 am (late concerts). I complained about not being made aware of renovations until I checked in the very next morning and was told that I could check out without penalty, but where was I to go? This is Essence Weekend and the city was sold out. The front desk director (Claire) was very rude on 2 different occasions and told me the only thing that all she could do was give me 2000 reward points. She also told me that I received an email about the renovations, and I did not. I was also told that this was on the website in December when I made my reservations, and no it was not. It was not put on the webiste until May 2014 according to Customer Service. I still have my conformation letter from where I made reservations in December. I asked to see the property manager but was told that they were in a meeting and that my information would be given to them to conatact me. To date no one has contacted me. I should not have had to pay the full price and should have been partially reimbursed for the stay because I had no say so in this matter. If I had been given given proper notice, I would have found other accommodations. I never would have booked a hotel that was under going construction. This basically ruined my vacation. I will never stay at that location again. During the day, you could not even get through the lobby for the party goers. They had day parties and the lobby is small. The parties should have been kept to the ballroom on the 4th floor. For the price, it was not worth it. There are no vending machines, front desk director rude, the rooms were filthy and full of dust, stains on the chaisse lounger, carpet stained, the bathroom was filthy, the decor dated to 1990s. The place needs to be demolished and start all over. My husband and I travel quite frequently. We have been around the world being prior military and this is by far the worst hotle that I have ever stayed in.

The New Orleans W on Poydras is my favorite place to stay in NOLA. In addition to the great vibe, excellent rooms, good staff, and other amenities, the W is very convenient to Warehose District and CBD, Convention Center, and all the excitement of the French Quarter

When I walked and saw the Lobby I was expecting just impressive design but no function. I was very impressed that this hotel has both. Everything was functional and easy to get to, yet everything about the hotel was cool. The Whenever/Wherever staff was awesome and really was so nice about every request.

We used cash and points for a 4 day get away. The W is well placed for adventure into the Quarter, the Warehouse district and the Riverfront. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great experience with two exceptions: the wifi was terrible and the parking is very expensive. But those were minor annoyances to an otherwise wonderful stay and a great getaway.

This hotel is right in the heart of the action. Steps from the famous Mother's restaurant and directly across the street from the casino. The staff here is very accommodating, including Elsie who provided exceptional customer service. For girlfriend getaways and even the Essence Festival you will definitely feel safe staying at this hotel.

Work on the internest connection. everytime you were away internet for a small amount of time, you would have to reconnect using the passcode. Should be able to stay connect or have internet recognize the code. Otherwise, everything was wonderful, thanks.

I travel a good bit and generally choose SPG when available ... this was the only with availability for this stay and I would have been well served to choose a different hotel. Tired, musty, seemed dirty and the staff was not overly friendly (no hand towels or water on day 2) with no recognition of my Starwood status. I use to live in NO and looked forward to showing my friend around ... city was fun, home base for our visit not so much ...

The hotel lobby and outdoor area are very lovely. My room, however, was a bit outdated. There was rust on both the door hinges and shower head and rod; along with any of the areas made of metal. On top of this, there was construction every morning during my stay that prevented me from sleeping past 9am. When I complained to the concierge, they were very nice, but unfortunately they were unable to move me because they were booked.
Additionally, the housekeeping service did not clean the tub until I noticed stains were still there after they supposedly cleaned it. It was not until I complained (and had to complain every other day) that someone actually scrubbed the total to remove the stains.
