Rated 4 out of 5 by SuePerSue Staff and Room was great.
I loved the room - very clean & the bed was so comfortable. Location and price of the hotel is great. Staff was very friendly & helpful with any questions or inquiries. It is an older hotel but I believe it gives it Character. I would of given all five stars except for the elevator. Guest elevator out of service so we had to use the staff elevator. This elevator is very small. We would 'wait' to use it only to find it was full- so we had to use the stairs quite a bit. Luckily we were only on the 5th floor. I applaud how patient the staff was with this - they would always wait to let guests use elevator first. Good news is there are plans for a new one. I definitely would come back to this hotel. On another bonus, the bar/restaurant attached to hotel - Loved it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Frustration Old and Tired -- The Hotel
We stay there twice in the last two years during the early Christmas season. We chose The Tremont principally for the proximity to Michigan Avenue and the good price. The hotel is old and needs a general spruce-up, especially on the so-called Starwood Preferred Floor. We had issues with the TV reception, internet/wireless service was spotty, the in-room safe was locked and could not be opened and it took four stops at the front desk to have someone come up and fix the connection on the telephone. These were all minor annoyances, but annoyances none the same. We may choose the Tremont again for our own reasons but have difficulty recommending it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jim222 Great value & location
Courteous and friendly staff, clean and comfortable room (albeit a bit small), made our quick stay in Chicago very pleasant. But the real value for us is the location - literally just minutes from Hancock Center, Museum of Contemporary Art and the terrific shops on Michigan Avenue. Tempo and McCormick & Schmick are barely a block away and Ditka's is right next door! We'll be back.

A hidden treasure at a very affordable price! And the location can't be beat! We have stayed at The Tremont several times and will always check on availability there first. See you soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WineAdvisoryGroup Understand What You're Getting... It's OK Now and Will Be Better Down the Road
The rating is easy... Everyone knows the physical plant "Needs Improvement". As long as you know what you're getting you'll be fine. Currently, this is a residential style hotel that needs a refurb. I understand they will be getting new carpeting and such next month. But the rates reflect the current status of the hotel.... and the location is superb. I didn't experience any flaws (odors, etc.) and the front desk was friendly and willing to help in any way. Ditka's, off the lobby, was excellent. It is what it is... understand that... enjoy the excellent rates and be happy. If you're looking for services or luxury, go elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by hopper1008 Cozy and convenient place close to Magnificent Mile
I liked it's close proximity to John Hancock's building and to Magnificent mile.
However the hotel needs an upgrade, especially elevators and hallways! ASAP!
Elevators are out of question. Almost scary to get into!
When i walked into my room i had a smell like someone smoked in there.
Staff is extremely nice!
