Le Méridien Ile Maurice is located 60 kilometers from the island’s international airport and only 15 kilometers from the island's hub, Grand Baie, known for its shopping, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The island’s capital, Port-Louis, a bustling centre of business and entertainment, is only 15 kilometers from Le Méridien Ile Maurice.

The busiest port in the Indian Ocean, Port-Louis offers colorful spectacles and a wealth of culture. The Chinese Pagoda – an example of traditional Chinese architecture – stands opposite the race course, and is just one example of the diversity of architectural styles that dot the island. Others include the Jummah Mosque, the stately English Saint James Cathedral, and the Indian Tamil Temple.

The market is the most visited and most famous part of the city, a blend of an Arab souk and Parisian “halles.” This sensory feast offers a range of foods and wares, from fruits and vegetables to herbs to clothing and kitchen tools. Near the harbour, the Caudan waterfront comprises a district of shopping galleries and restaurants.

The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden dates from 1770 and was created by Pierre Poivre during the island's French sovereignty. The immense garden features astonishing plant species, including stunning giant water lilies. The royal palm tree is of special significance, flowering once every forty years.
