To master the centuries-old art of Thai Boxing, guests are introduced to the following series of singular movements that distinguish the sport. All protective equipment, including padding, is provided on a complimentary basis.
The most basic Muay Thai technique, the punch is the foundation of the sport. Guests learn how to form a fist correctly and throw a punch using a combination of shoulders, hips and feet to generate power.
The Straight Punch
The straight punch is a power punch that extends directly forward with the fist held palm down and aimed at the opponent’s chin or solar plexus.
The jab is delivered with the lead hand as a defensive punch. It is used to test range and keep an opponent at bay.
The hook is a punch delivered from the side that is aimed precisely at the opponent’s temple, chin or ears.
The Upper Cut
The upper cut is a punch used when within close proximity of the opponent. The fist is punched vertically upwards and aimed at the chin or solar plexus.
