As a regular visitor to the hotel for over 25 years it still retains its wonderful feel and charactor backed up and created by a wonderful team of staff and managers. I only hope in this cost cutting world they can maintain it given the excellent competition in the area.

I love this hotel and I've been spending my holidays with my 4 yrs son since he was born.
The people are extraordinary and the hotel is just great.
I would improve the menus and the attractions, as since I've been in this hotel (I already stayed more than 60 nights for the last 3 years) the menus and the attractions are exactly the same.
We would expect from a 5 star hotel, where the same Clients go every year, that we could be surprised with some menu changes and with some attractions change.
The staff is amazing and we really feel at home.

This property has a nice atmosphere and feels very comftable due to the way it's set out with facilities.
Staff were polite and helpful. I did see the manager of the Sir Henry Cotton Restuarant have a mini-meltdown when it got busy, but everyone else did a fantastic job and were welcoming and very helpful.
Rooms were on the small side, especially as we had a baby crib/cot.... So we needed to upgrade to a suite (which was very well laid out and spacious by comparison).

Recently returned from a 4 night golf break with the 'boys' where we played 4 rounds on the Championship course. This is my 5th visit to Penina including 2 family holidays.
As ever the the experience was first class with friendly and efficient staff, superb food, (particularly in the Grill) and a great golf course right on hand.
My only mild criticism would be that the second floor mountain view room which I stayed in was very small.

The hotel has a peaceful and tranquil feel about the place whilst providing excellent service and quality and with plenty to do within the hotel grounds and around the nearby vicinity.
The meal deals were particularly good value with 'The Grill' a must.
Pool staff were always willing to help and provide assistance and the beach is just a short ride away.

myself and my wife spent a week our second holiday at this hotel 19 september on our arrival we were offered a glass of port wine or asoft drink our check in took a very short time staff were verycourteous and friendly and welcomed us back

This is the third visit to Penina and will not be the last. As ever, the staff are extremely accomodating and work hard to ensure that to give the message the we are 'their' guests. The staff have remained consistent with this hotel which indicates how dedicated they are as a team. On this trip (golf) we travelled with family who themselves have experienced a wide range of hotels and holidays but they were very complimentary. The reception team were patient, good humoured and went the extra mile to meet our needs. The room (pool view) was as a result of a free upgarde but was not one that refelcted this it was in a prime location overlooking the golf course - WOW! The food was amazing and well presented with the staff ensuring the right balance between politeness and privacy. The golfing was its usual high standard. The golf shop staff were excellent and made every effort to ensure that out party of 4 had a positive experience by changing our tee bookings to suit our ever-changing daily arrangements. All the courses were in absolutely tip-top condition. I have recently played The Belfry (all courses), Celtic Manor, Woodhall Spa and Sunningdale and this one compares very well to all of these. The Championship was set up to allow for all levels of golfers without compromising its history. A big thanks you to a team that has done their homework and know exactly how to care for guests! Don't miss the opportunity to travel into Alvor (restaurants), Lagos (Marina) and Portimao.
