Rated 1 out of 5 by hiram was 7 times in the hotel - not sure if i will be back
first of all i have to tell that upgrading according the spg policy is very important for me, here in the hotel its always the same, the never give nice suite upgrades, its always a little fight at the front desk, the property has over 1000 rooms and suites, i was booking about 8 weeks in advance, nobody can tell me that they sold all the suites... rest was ok like breakfast and staff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Shen SPG should be ashamed of this hotel
I have spent 3 weeks on and off with Le Meridien Etoile with the worst experience with SPG ever. To summarize, I was really frustrated with staff's attitude, quality and efficiency of service, level of response and facility in general.
1. Front desk
It took me over half hour for me to check in for the first night, with front desk gave me a rate which is 50 Euro/day higher than my reservation.
I showed the confirmation letter from my Ambassador, the staff's response is that they don't know why, but I should call my Ambassador directly, (who is already off duty in Asia), or call SPG directly using international roaming of my cell phone to figure out the difference.
After 20 minutes of back and force, after I repeatedly requested to see the manager, finally the duty manager came out and told me it's a mistake on their side and I've got the rate on my confirmation letter.
However, there's no upgrade at all, and no room even prepared for me, which my welcoming gift arrived unexpected close to midnight when I was showering up, instead of readily placed in a room reserved for me even if there was no upgrade at all for the SPG 100 member
This is the very most frustrating, ridiculous and to certain extent offending part. I have been experienced more than 3 times stuck in bed or bathroom without my clothes with cleaning lady broke in my room; and instead of excusing themselves immediately, they were still trying to talk to me in French for minutes to ask if I could let her clean the room right there!!!
My partner need to leave the room 3 hours earlier than my breakfast time, and the door can only be locked from inside. So he could only put the DO NOT DISTURB sign outside without waking me up; which apparently cleaning people just doesn't care at all, and just keep breaking in regardless if i'm in bed or in shower.
Even after cleaning lady being asked to leave my room, then service desk started to keep calling me ever hour to say since I have the DO NOT DISTURB on, they are calling to ask if they could start cleaning my room now. It happens almost everyday until I couldn't stand it any more and have to get out of my room because of that. I really don't understand if these people couldn't read or what, with "DO NOT DISTURB" on, means I DON'T WANT TO BE DISTURBED, NOT BY THE CLEANING LADY, OR HOTEL PHONE CALL!!!
After I have complained to the director of housekeeping, we agreed the best approach is to put down remark that cleaning lady would only come to my room in the afternoon; and nobody will be calling me in the morning. The very next morning, cleaning lady broke in again when I was in bed!
3. welcome gift and water
Welcome fruit arrived at close to midnight the first day. The 2nd and 3rd time I checked in, it never arrived before I call the service desk at least THREE TIMES to chase for that. There was once the lady at service even asked rhetorically "Are you expecting welcome fruit? we will send over if that's the case"?!!!!
The worse thing is that even my water is not always in place. I called the service after there was no fresh water for my medicine three days in a row, service desk's response was that “Sure. You can have your water. Just come downstairs to the service counter." Surely I could have my water, but it's supposed to be in my room instead of I have to go to service desk to ask for one after three days without supply.
What's more ridiculous is that by the time I get to service desk, they gave me a cup of tap water and lectured me that there's no water in my room because I had my "DO NOT DISTURB” sign on.
What the holly heck is that! I have the "DO NOT DISTURB" on; that the cleaning broke in anyways regardless I'm in shower or bed. They did clean my room everyday, as cleaning is such a top priority that they will do it even by making me feel being kicked out of my room everyday. Have done that, the room was still not thoroughly clean, and they even lined up the empty water bottles one by one neatly by my bed without replenishing with new ones, and that's all because of the sign?!
As a result, I waited for 20 minutes to get a bottle of water for my medicine, as explained by the staff that "they sent the water in your room instead of here, so it takes a bit longer". What really infuriates me is that, the same evening, when I finally got back to hotel, showered and about to take pills and go to bed, I found that there was again still NO WATER in my room, after the entire afternoon! I called the service desk again, they promised the water is on its way. After another 15 minutes, there was NOTHING and NOBODY!!!!
4. Room cleaning
I have found several hair, not "hair" hair, on top of the unused bath robe, which really disgusted me out. I called the duty manager. The duty manager did no more than saying sorry and brought me another robe.
Similar situation happened before at other SPG hotel, but other hotel manager not only waited at the breakfast lounge to apologize in person, explained why it happened, and next day there's a nice couple of souvenir, fruit basked and a bunch of flowers waiting in my room.
It's not really a matter of compensation, the way Le Meridien Etoile manager handling this shows no apology at all about this kind of things ever happened.
Also, with the aforementioned water issue, there were a couple days, I found there were 2 conditioner and 2 body lotion without shower gel or shampoo in my bathroom. Luckily I had a suite later with 2 bath room, but I really don't understand what people expect me to do with such exotic set of toiletry.
5. Hotel facility
There were 2 wifi routers in the hotel, one for rooms and one at the lobby, where the breakfast room is located, that my room number and password never worked.
So I had to ask for a one time password for lobby every time I need wifi. After a couple time of hassle, I asked for a password that could valid for 3 days so that I dont need to line up at service desk every morning for it.
Also, the hotel gym and pool is in the other building across the street from the hotel. With Paris temperature, there's no way you could go to the gym with your gym clothes. Also, this facility only opens 9:00 to 21:00, so if you have event during the day, there's no chance you could catch the gym open hour, even if you don't mind to get up early or work out late.
There's no kettle in the room, nor tea bag or coffee machine. They have coffee coupon that you could have one complimentary coffee per day at the lobby bar, but only between 10:30 to 18:30. Other times, you could only order room service.
Also, the sound insulation in room is extremely bad. My room is at the end of the corridor, with a service room next to it. Every morning, with the experience of people broke in my room, I was always not sure if people broke in again when the cleaning lady slam the door of the service room.
6. Service Desk
Overall, this is the first hotel I have seen that has a separate service desk beside of the concierge and unfortunately doesn't off much quality service at all.
For wifi password, despite of service desk's promise, the same password never worked after the first day; and 40% of the time, the password even doesn't work for the same day I asked for it.
So, more than half of the time, I don't have internet at breakfast though I went to line up for it everything morning before breakfast.
Also, I checked with the service desk if I still have the complimentary shoe shining as well as ironing service as the platinum benefits, given it seems that many things are different in this hotel from what I usually receive in any other SPG hotel.
The service desk staff checked with his colleagues, firstly called back, saying there's no such services that I have to pay; later called back again to say that they made mistakes again that it's free.
I am just surprised for basic things like this, the dedicated service people actually doesn't know and have to check, and still gave the wrong information after checking.
To conclude, the experience turn out to be extremely disappointing along these three weeks, with very rare exceptions of a duty manager called Maria, who has been professional and quite helpful to arrange me the upgrade for my later stays; and there's front desk staff called Francesco with very good attitude and being the only one who didn't make mistake for the check in process. Also, one staff with dark skin at baggage counter that has been very friendly and helpful with handling my luggage.

Best concierge services sor far. They managed to book us in the most demanded places on a last minute request. They were very professional and helpfull.
On the other hand the hotel is strategically located, it is very easy to go to/from it with the metro, air France cars etc.
The staff are very helpful and very welcoming...
Rooms however, are very small and amenities are minimal. More could be invested in that regards, especially in items such as a safe.
Another area of improvement is to have a platinum lounge on the 6 th floor to avoid the very long queues for breakfast especially on weekends

Rated 1 out of 5 by MD31 Hotel suffering from lack of maintenance
I have used this hotel regularly during my stays in Paris but I must say that I have been disappointed by this stay and therefore have decided to change hotel for my next stay in 3 weeks.
Key reasons :
Room was not very clean... spots on the wall, phone was greasy, I had to clean it myself before using it.
Internet connection was very slow.. definitely not at today's standard and not a fit for work
In addition, I am finding that the overall hotel is wearing out, the 6th floor corridor was not very neat and seem to be suffering from a lack of care from the cleaning staff

We were given room 1064 for a 4 night stay. This room is not renovated, it smells and has no possibility to open a window. Also the room is right above a meeting room that is also used for concerts, a thing we learned to our surprise in the evening.
Only after heavy complaints at the reception desk we obtained a btter room 3074 (renovated, with opening windows...).

The staff was very attentive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Caroline42 Third Stay and Would Highly Recommend
This was our third time staying at this hotel and have vistied Paris many many times.
We always stay at 5-6 star properties whenever we travel Europe so service, great rooms and great food are top of our list.
We found the breakfast buffet for 26 euros to be excellent, fresh and extensive. The staff were outstanding and worked efficiently and very hard. Our stay was for 10 nights so as the restaurant staff recognized us in the morning the service only got better. The Maitre-D's always greeted us kindly and were very pleasant.
The only downfalls to our stay were:
Our room was labelled non-smoking but clearly had been a smoking room at one time because it was musty and stale and smelled quite gross after being in the room for a length of time.
We found the wireless internet in the rooms to be quite a scam. When you purchase it can only be for one device so there were days when we had to pay 19 euro x 2.
As a Starwood Preferred they are supposed to leave a bottle of water each day which they did not so we had to call everyday. This is minor but it is a little perk that they don't carry through on.
If you like the comfort of a higher end business class hotel this one is great.

Not only was I switched into four different rooms over five days, ultimately ending up in the suite that we should have been in originally. Beside an unhelpful and generally untrained and unmotivated staff, the accommodations were dirty, with several issues. The "suite's" shower was broken, to which their solution was to open the connecting room and have us shower in there. In all, as a well-traveled Platinum SPG member, I can honestly say this was the single worst experience I've had.
Simply put, I will never stay here again, nor should you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ben312 Great Hotel - Rough Check-In
Overall, this hotel is very nice. The room and lobby restaurant (Jazz Bar) were great. The only downside on this trip was the check-in. Their were a few outraged guests in the queue and created quite the scene. The staff and GM did their best to calm them down but the scene just furthered everyone in line's check-in process. It ended up taking 20-30 minutes to check-in which is tough after a long day of travel to Paris.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NJW517 Poor Service
I have been 6 years Platinum and have stayed at over 50 Starwood locations. This one is one of the worst for service.
They are renovating and put me in a small suite right under the renovation noise -- construction is supposed to be from 10am-5pm, but they start drilling at 8am. I complained to the manager, and they moved me up from the 7th floor (newly upgraded rooms) to the 9th floor (old rooms). My options were therefore 1) New and noisy or 2) Old/smelly and quiet. Not the most amazing set of options.
The hotel also lost my luggage. They was supposed to keep it for a week when my husband and I finished our Europe vacation. I got 1 of 2 bags back. They completely mishandled the situation.
1) Luggage person DIDN'T APOLOGIZE, made us wait 15 minutes for a manager
2) Luggage person made me look for my own stuff in their storage rooms
3) Manager (Emilie) didn't even say hello or shake our hand (and also didn't apologize)
4) Didn't offer us any compensation or help. She just sat down silently and started filling out a form.
5) I got a letter back from the hotel saying the London office will take care of it.
6) Radio silence afterwards. No one has reached out to me since. It's been 3 weeks.
I know my situation is unique, but it points out that their staff and management is incapable or unwilling to help their guests.
Also, their Concierge is overworked and extremely surly. We didn't experience this in any other Starwood property in Paris.
1) Location is good
2) Breakfast is FANTASTIC. Try the chocolate croissant and apple pastry in the basket -- better than many bakeries. Surly omelette chefs. Make sure they seat you in the raised Platinum section if possible -- otherwise you get very slow service.
3) Love the afternoon coffee/espresso card.
4) Jazz club is fantastic

I met my daughter and her friend in Paris, so we needed bedding for three and two bathrooms - one for me and one for the girls. So, I used points to get a suite.
The second night my shower clogged and flooded. Although I did not request an accessible room, that is what we got. Since it was an accessible room there was no wall to keep the water in the shower. I called guest services to report the problem, and then we left for dinner. When we returned I had a voice-mail message saying that no one was on-site to fix the problem, but they would get to it on Monday -- we were leaving on Sunday. They also said we'd have to share the one bathroom. I think the problem could be fixed with a plunger. So, for the next two days my 21 year old daughter and her 21 year old friend and I share a bathroom.
That same night I wanted to get the Murphy bed setup, but I couldn't figure out how to lower it. So, I put a second call into Guest Services to have them come lower the bed while we are at dinner. When we return the bed had not been lowered. I made a second call for the bed. They send someone up to take care of it. He can't figure out how to lower the bed either. So, he calls someone else. The second person gets the job done. Everyone leaves, I'm exhausted and want to go to sleep, but there are no sheets or pillows. I make my third call regarding the bed to get pillows and sheets.
The next night I am thinking no problem -- I know how to operate the Murphy bed now. Again, another long day in Paris, I am exhausted, I go to lower the Murphy bed, but it won't work. I call Guest Services again, the same guy from the night before comes up. We determine that the cleaning personnel locked the bed into place. He doesn't have a key to unlock it. He makes a call or two -- no one on-site has a key. The manager did come up and apologize and to tell me they are bringing me a roll-away! I'm 6'1", 240 pound, Platinum Member (so I thought).
Without going into detail on the restaurant: service was poor and my dish was brought out 5-10 minutes after the girls got their dishes. It was warm at best. I will say we did enjoy the buffet in the mornings.

I stayed at this hotel as I needed a central hotel for one night. Check in was fast and efficient as was check out. The jazz club is nice - you can hear it well from the lobby. However, I got stuck in a lift and no-one answered the alarm call and concierge desk, to whom I reported the issue, did not reply to me in English - I was panicking so couldn't think in French. They did however send someone to help me find a working lift which was not necessary as I wanted to be in the lobby which was where I had managed to escape from the lift.
Free wifi is only available in the lobby which is disappointing - business travellers will charge the cost to their business but the leisure traveller cannot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pmimmy53 Clean, Quiet -- A Big Hotel with Charm
For all the hustle, bustle and noise/music/action in the lobby, this hotel has surprisingly quiet rooms. The bed was comfortable and firm -- which made for an excellent night's sleep. And the room itself was small, but very clean -- with all modern fixtures and amenities. I was told, however, that I was on a newly renovated floor, so I would make sure to ask for that. The wi-fi worked great. And the location, while a bit off the beaten path, is in a location that is very convenient to transportation -- not to mention there are wonderful restaurants all around you. Try Le Relais de Venise, L'Entrecote for the best steak frites in the world!

The hotel upgraded me to an executive room, but the room was so small that it was very hard to move around. The room was in front of a very noisy street and when I was moved to another room, you can hear a conversation from an adjacent room that it was difficult to have any peace and quiet. Added to the small and noisy rooms, the overall service is terrible. You would at least expect good breakfast at a French hotel. However, even breakfast was disappointing, with one of the worst breakfast in any SPG hotels. There is nothing positive you can say about the hotel, only negatives. If you are coming for business, do not stay in this hotel since they do not have a business center or support. If you are coming for holiday, avoid this hotel since it is very unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DinaW Disappointed- SPG Guest with Le Meridien Managment
Firstly I love Paris...it is my favorite city in Europe. Typically, I stay at the Prince de Gaull but it was closed for rennovations. This was my first visit to the Le Meridien. I stayed at the Le Meridien on the front and back side of my trip to Morocco. Will compliment the door men and coincierge both very friendly and helpful. Also the location is easily accessible to the Metro and Air France Bus to and from CDG. However, I do have to say I am very disappointed on how the Hotel Management handled my situation on the return trip June23rd-24th, 2011. On the back side of my trip, my flight from Marrakesh was cancelled to Paris and it was the last flight of the night to Paris. I called the Hotel through out the delay and ultimately cancellation to keep the Hotel abreast of the situation. In addition, I called Starwood Guest Service to also inform them of the flight cancellation. Note: I called from my cell phone costing me close to $50 in calls to keep the Hotel and Starwood informed of the delay and ultimately cancellation. My concern was that i used 18,000 Starwood points for a room I did not sleep in and did inform the Hotel. The Hotel night team on June 23rd informed me that I could speak with a Manager upon my arrival. I arrived on June 24th at approximately 11:30am and again, explained my situation. The front desk attendant that checked me in from the SPG Line went to the back to speak to a Manager and came out assured me that I would be credited the 18,000 points. I was pleased at the resolution as my flight was cancelled and I kept the Hotel informed and Starwood Guest Service. Unfortunately, I did not see the credit appear. I literally spent hours and I am not kidding of my time on the phone with Starwood Guest Service, their corporate group and ultimately, they called the Le Meridien in Paris to find out why the credit was not initiatied. The Hotel informed Starwood Guest Service they would not provide the credit of the 18,000 points despite my not staying in the room and calling the Hotel upon my delay and ultimately flight cancellation from Marrakesh to Paris. Believe me I would have preferred to have spent that night in Paris instead of the airport in Marrakesh which was a nightmare in itself. What disappointed me most is the Hotel said they would credit the 18,000 points and they did not. If they would have looked at my SPG history, they would have seen that I have been a Starwood Platinum or Gold Guest every year for over 10 years. If Le Meridien Paris truly valued their Guests, they would have credited me the 18,000 points knowing that II am a loyal Starwood patron and more than likely would return to their Hotel knowing my history with Starwood. As a result, I am beyond disappointed, I feel like they reneged on their verbal agreement to credit me the 18,000 points. By the way these were hard earned points through staying many many nights at Starwood Hotels. Looking forward to the Prince De Gaull reopening because that is where I will be staying my next visit to Paris. I sure hope the Le Meridien Management will value their SPG Guests and any Guest better than what happened with me.

I have now stayed three times at this Hotel and cannot fault the staff or service. However, I seem to be unlucky in never being allocated these apparently impressive refurbished rooms Once again I was allocated an original room, very small and cluttered with depressing dark furniture and green lamps needing a coat of paint. The curtain was difficult to pull as it had come off its hooks. I would have liked a safe in the room and also do not find it easy to have use the tedious TV menu system, particularly at 3am when trying to find out how to ventilate the room. There was quite a lot of noise coming from the room next door through the interconnecting door.
However, the bathroom was great, the room was quiet, and the breakfast to die for! Location is excellent too. I will stay there again and hope next time to experience the newer rooms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigtimeSPGguy Family trip to Paris
I read a lot of reviews of this hotel before our trip and I was honestly a bit scared to stay here with my family for 4 days. I travel to many SPG properties in the US but not often in Europe.
I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in great condition and the staff, especially the concierge were fantastic. We had our two children with us (8/10) and they were able to give adjoining rooms on an upper floor— which proved to be plenty of space for the 4 of us.
The location is great, next to the Air France shuttle to the airport, very close to subway stop, and very easy to get a taxi any time of day— also central to most of the sights in the city.
One of the best things about the stay was the breakfast (free with Platinum) it was a huge buffet that my kids looked forward to more than seeing the city.
We stayed with cash and points and I felt it was a great price for a great hotel.
One small mis-step was t hat I did the "make a green choice" for both of our rooms which gives you 500 points per night if you didn't have maid service but i only received credit for 2 on the nights.
One tip: at SPG hotels throughout most of Europe I felt you had to ask more then once to be upgraded even if you are Platinum— but it usually was accommodated.

The airport shuttle bus dropped me off right in front of the hotel - which was a huge load of my mind going to paris for the first time.
There was always a full staff at the front desk and never had to wait to check in/check out/have my questions answered the 3 days I was there. Also there was a concierge always staffed with helpful people. The breakfast was great (free for platinum as a welcome gift choice). I kept taking pictures of the food and sending them home as I ate. I was greeted each morning by 2-3 staff at the entrance of the restaurant and my tea/orange juice was always being filled by attentive wait staff.
The room was small but very beautiful and clean. (upgraded because of platinum)
The hotel did not have a gym/sauna etc. but I could use the facilities for free (being platinum) across the street at a big fitness chain (sauna/steam/big gym with classes)

We ate here last night. Save yourself the money and disappointing experience and go somewhere else. We ordered three steaks, after all it is a steak house and supposed to be their specialty. All three were supposed to be medium. All three came out rare - rare like could have just been cut off the cow and oozing in blood juice. Someone other than our server delivered our food and our server was never to be seen again after taking our order until he came to clear our plates about half an hour after we finished eating what we could of our uncooked steaks. When he asked how everything was - we told him the steaks were undercooked and his response was "you ate them though". We ate them as in 1) we couldn't find you after we took our first bites and realized the problem so we scavenged and cut off the outsides and what we could because we were starving 2) it was 10pm and 3) it was pouring outside so we didn't want to leave the hotel. Great food! Even better service!!!

Good Hotel. Cashed in on a lot of SPG points for 5 nights and after reading reviews I put this place on a pedestal. It's a U.S. owned hotel in France. Reception was good, they let us check in early. Hotel was well kept in lobby. Great location to point Maillot metro stop. Starbucks nearby if you can't do without. Here's my disappointments, and I'm not trying to be picky. Hallway rugs on 4th floor are worn, bathroom wallpaper peeling everywhere, mold in bath caulking. Helpful but cocky concierge. Wouldn't pay for this place so glad it didn't cost upfront cash. Hotel across the street was beautiful. Will stay there next time.
