Rated 2 out of 5 by My latter stay, from Nov 5 to Nov 9 I stayed in this hotel 6 nights in August and had a nice room and a good experience. So I returned in November for 4 nights. Surprise: the room was very small, it made an angle and it was "cut". I complained at the reception but the young guy forced me to stay there saying that all similar rooms in my category (Executive) were sold out, unless I wanted a downgrade!!! So we stayed there, forcefully... There was one bathrobe only, quite old and not enough towels or bathing soap. We had to ask EVERYDAY for more soap!!! Then, on our 2nd day, we left the hotel about 10:30 AM and came back around 7 PM. The room was still NOT made. Calling extention "9" the guy told me it is "strange" and accused me that I must have left the "do not disturb" sign on the door all day, which I told him it is not true. But still, he had this "superior" attitude of investigator!!! After other 20 minutes, I called again and he told me he could not do any better: they asked for someone to come over and clean the room and I had to "wait"... He even added "when they come ask them why they did not clean your room today". I got very upset and I told him "I am the customer here and you should not talk to me like this and it is your job to talk to your femme de menage, not mine"!!! Conclusion, I will not go back there again. Thank god Paris is full of hotels that are in the same category or better and have a more adequate service! November 21, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Assiatnace. I checked out of my room and realized only once I arrived at the airport that I'd left my Travel wallet in the hotel safe. with only 2 hrs be3ore my flight departed, I called the hotel in desperation as I couldn't risk getting a cab back to the hotel only to collect my belongings. My other concern was that I had a considerable amount of USD cash in the wallet. I called the hotel and spoke with Jeanette, the Duty manager. She was absolutely fantastic. Jeanette took the lead on the situation, collected my travel Wallet from the room, identified a Taxi driver who was known to the hotel, placed the wallet in an enclosed envelope, called me with the details and had him sign receipt when he arrived at CDG airport. This was all executed within 30 -45 minutes and the driver finally arrived envelope in hand with approx. 45 minutes to spare before the flight closed. I wish to personally thank Jeanette for her excellent service and for going beyond her normal course of duty to assist me with my dilemma. Very much appreciated. July 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Disapointed the second time This is my second stay at this hotel. I Like its proximity to the CDG Air France Bus (across the street) and its location near the Metro #1. The staff is very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The first time I stayed in an a room which was nicely decorated with new furniture and lighting. The bathroom was nicely appointed and worked perfectly. This was the reason for my return. The second time, the “upgraded” room was an old (8013), small, and the “king size bed” was really 2 twin beds next to each other, that each bed was made separately… also, the room needed an immediate renovation, and although everything worked and it was clean but due to the overuse it felt dirty and unwelcoming. Some painting was peeling ... And there was no coffee/tea in the room... Considering the staff quality, the location and my previous positive experience I will return. But this time I will make sure to ask for a quality room as expected from the Le Meridian December 21, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disapointed It took 3 changes of room and then an upgrade to get an average room in the Hotel. For the price we could have been downtown where we could walk everywhere. The Hotel is to far out of town. We were on a Viking Cruise and we would have expected better. On our invoice they said 20 Euro per night upsale , so obviously they do this all the time. Others in our group changed 5 times and where eventually given a room with an "upsale" of 30 Euro. Go figure? July 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 Average Stay The room update was nice. The AC didn't work well and we had to sleep without sheets and still sweated. It would be nice if you could open the window more than a few inches to get more cool air. July 27, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by A budget motel in middle of Paris The hotel upgraded me to an executive room, but the room was so small that it was very hard to move around. The room was in front of a very noisy street and when I was moved to another room, you can hear a conversation from an adjacent room that it was difficult to have any peace and quiet. Added to the small and noisy rooms, the overall service is terrible. You would at least expect good breakfast at a French hotel. However, even breakfast was disappointing, with one of the worst breakfast in any SPG hotels. There is nothing positive you can say about the hotel, only negatives. If you are coming for business, do not stay in this hotel since they do not have a business center or support. If you are coming for holiday, avoid this hotel since it is very unpleasant and uncomfortable. September 12, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by THIS HOTEL IS A CHEAT AND GENERALLY HORRIBLE. THE HOTEL RECEPTION CHEATED ME. THE GYM OPENED FOR ONLY 2 DAYS OUT OF MY 6-DAY STAY. THE RESTAURANT (OF AN SPG HOTEL!) WAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED FOR A HOLIDAY. THE DUTY MANAGER WAS UNLIKE AN SPG HOTEL UNFRIENDLY. August 19, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointment Way below expectation for a high-end Starwood property, particularly regarding the treatment and recognition of PSG members. June 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by In Room Amenities The only disappointment was that despite being in an Executive Room the promised complimentary bottled water was not provided during the entire duration of the stay. Which was a minor inconvenience specially due to the warm weather during those days in Paris. Another negative was that it was difficult to reach housekeeping since the line was always busy and the hold times were long. July 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Conveniently located for Air France Shuttle Bus I like to use Le Meridien Etoile because the Air France Aiport shuttle bus stop is right in front of Le Meridien. I hate getting on a cab when I'm on the road because cabs often do not take credit cards, and I don't like getting ripped off from FX rates. Etoile area is by no means the best area for tourists but if you're on a business and have meetings around Champs Elysee, I recommend this hotel. The room is modern by Paris standard and the hotel has its own SPG guest only floor. I don't know how unique of an experience that could be, but still got a sense that I'm somewhat taken care of. Having said that, with Paris' metro system, you should have no problem getting around the city. As a business traveler, however, I felt more "safe" by staying at Le Meridien than other parts of the city. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by HR Manager I always have been treated as a very valuable guest July 26, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Review Le Meridien Etoile Paris This is one of the worst hotels Starwood has in its programme. Staff is unfriendly, they are not able to keep guest data in their systems, they do not manage the room upgrades properly. The rooms are only fully equipped from the second or third night onwards (water, bathroom shoes arrive). Mistakes on the bill are common, express check out only works if you send them a reminder email that you would like to have your bill. The gym arrangement (gym is not part of the hotel) is ridiculous - not only do they open from about 8.30-8.30pm, they often decide to close earlier - so no possibility for someone working longer hours to exercise. Rooms are small and windows dont close properly, not pleasant in the winter. January 18, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor Service I have been 6 years Platinum and have stayed at over 50 Starwood locations. This one is one of the worst for service. They are renovating and put me in a small suite right under the renovation noise -- construction is supposed to be from 10am-5pm, but they start drilling at 8am. I complained to the manager, and they moved me up from the 7th floor (newly upgraded rooms) to the 9th floor (old rooms). My options were therefore 1) New and noisy or 2) Old/smelly and quiet. Not the most amazing set of options. The hotel also lost my luggage. They was supposed to keep it for a week when my husband and I finished our Europe vacation. I got 1 of 2 bags back. They completely mishandled the situation. 1) Luggage person DIDN'T APOLOGIZE, made us wait 15 minutes for a manager 2) Luggage person made me look for my own stuff in their storage rooms 3) Manager (Emilie) didn't even say hello or shake our hand (and also didn't apologize) 4) Didn't offer us any compensation or help. She just sat down silently and started filling out a form. 5) I got a letter back from the hotel saying the London office will take care of it. 6) Radio silence afterwards. No one has reached out to me since. It's been 3 weeks. I know my situation is unique, but it points out that their staff and management is incapable or unwilling to help their guests. Also, their Concierge is overworked and extremely surly. We didn't experience this in any other Starwood property in Paris. Some pros: 1) Location is good 2) Breakfast is FANTASTIC. Try the chocolate croissant and apple pastry in the basket -- better than many bakeries. Surly omelette chefs. Make sure they seat you in the raised Platinum section if possible -- otherwise you get very slow service. 3) Love the afternoon coffee/espresso card. 4) Jazz club is fantastic July 10, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Friendly Staff I called initially to let then know that I am blind travelling with a guide dog for the blind. At first, they told me no pets, then put me on hold and came back apologetically and said of course we are welcome! When we arrived, we were upgraded at no cost to have more room for my guide dog :) The manager came and gave his extension if we encountoured a issues. The staff was wonderufl and I'd recommend this hotel highly. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Hotel, Centrally Located We traveled to Paris to celebrate my wife's birthday. Excellent hotel, very comfortable rooms. Helpful staff. Hotel arranged for surprise champagne on her birthday, which was totally unexpected. July 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great choice If you can stand to walk 11 minutes to the Arc d'Triomphe, this hotel is a good value for money choice. The Rooms are not large but reasonable for Paris, and well presented. The staff are great. Breakfast is superb with many choices. There is a mall and market across the street, plenty of fine restaurants around, and a Metro station a few minutes away. I'd ask for a room away from the main street if you are a light sleeper. Overall a smart choice in Paris. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Paris Our stay was excellent. The check-in staff was excellent. The concierge service is very arrogant. But the hotel rooms are very nice and very clean and the hotel location is very convenient. So we would always go back. December 27, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Can't wait......to leave! Only thing that is high end in this poor excuse of a hotel is the cost of everything. Our room is so dated (leopard print, sticky carpet), its like being transported to the 1970's. Must wear shoes in room or risk getting stuck on the carpet or water closet floor. The dirt smears on the walls apparently are supposed to pass as art or something. No heat in room. Very glad I am in menopause as at least my hot flashes keep my husband and me warm. No toilet paper left so had to use Kleenex and napkins pilfered from another place. Room service well what an experience. Tea for two brought up on a tray that appeared to have been a chew toy or frisbee at some point. No napkins or cream with tea...just hot water and a couple of tea bags..it's a bargain at 14 euros. The waiter even stood there with his hand out waiting for a tip...I gave him 1 euro....more than he deserved. Will be broke from my stay here before we even get to our next destination as there are no cafes in this area with even remotely reasonable prices. Stuck in this rat hole for 2 more days...can't wait to leave. December 28, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfort Look overall you are not bad. Bed comfort was Average. Poor heating / cooling in the room The meal I had smoked salmon & classic burger was not at all value for money. I travel extensively and my company pays for me but I do think if I was paying for the services how would I feel and the above reflects this. July 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Real Star in Paris This is a great hotel. The rooms are very nice and the Staff is MAGNIFICO. I am a Platinum member and stay at over 100 nights a year. The staff is superb and very friendly. Kudos to Nicolas and Salma at the front desk. They were very helpful and made us feel welcome. They did not know us and treated us like family. I am only going back to Paris so I can stay at this hotel. The rooms are big and the smiles are bigger. A nice short walk to the Arch. You feel you are in Paris. The breakfast is great and plentiful. Rated 1 out of 5 by STARWOOD SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO PUT THIS HOTEL IN ITS COLLECTION My husband surprised me with a trip to Paris (I thought we were going to Chicago when at the airport he informed me we were on our way to Paris, France for my Birthday December 31) I had not been to Paris in 10 years and my husband had never been. I was so excited I would have the opportunity to show him such a beautiful city. We arrived in Paris the morning of December 29, 2012, we took the Les Cars/AirFrance coach which stopped right in front of our Hotel Le Meridien Etoile. We arrived to registration to find NO ONE manning the GOLD DESK. We waited in line a young women called my husband up and checked us in. We were assigned a room on the third floor ( we assumed a prefered level room) as we got off the elevator we noticed that the carpet was very soiled and worn. I said to my husband I hope this is not an indication of what our room will be like. We arrived to our room and I was right soiled carpet tattered drapes and disfunctional furniture. I know it was the weekend before New Years 2013 however as a Starwood Gold member we expected better. I have to say the Staff was excellent calling us after every request to make sure it was foefilled. This property is very big, it is more of a conference hotel than a luxury property. Shame on you Starwood for allowing a Prefered Guest to be subjected to such conditions. January 10, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Average hotel Good lobby. Air conditioning horrible, in the rooms. Rooms were small. Only one very good conceriage the rest were average and one did't care Horrible location for 1st timers to Paris. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent location The hotel is located in a safe neighborhood and is very convenient for transportation. Bus service to/from airport as well as the Porte Maillot station is right across the street. June 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Another excellent stay. This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel & it was again a great experience. Yhey take care of Starwood VIP's very well. Friendly, efficient & helpful people. Good facility in convient location. July 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Has potential but there are things that could be improved stayed 5 weeks. 1) A coke is 9.50 euros at the restaurant... are you serious? Dont be silly 2) Internet can be pretty in and out 3) Fix your platinum line.. it is so awkward to be waiting on the side to get assisted on the platinum side without everyone thinking i am budding them (this has happened twice where someone rushed in front of me and said i was here first.... no one at the counter said anything) 5) The westin vendome does not require a deposit for an umbrella 4) rooms are nice, clean 5) staff is kind and helpful 6) generally the hotel is well kept and generally busy which adds a nice atmosphere May 19, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Another "needs improvement" stay. Due to the extremely small rooms (executive room) and responsiveness of the staff (very late or no response at all) and lack of "platinum" recognition I would not recommend this hotel to other Platinum guests. The (executive) room I got was extremely small and the staff did not respond to my request after calling, I had to go down to the check-in desk to express my question again, after which I was assisted. In the morning at breakfast I was not escorted to the SPG breakfast area but in the middle of other guests which surprised me. It is very busy in the morning at breakfast but even after telling them I was a Platinum SPG member I was treated as all other holiday guests. I was not very happy with my stay, luckily it was only for 2 nights. July 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best concierge Best concierge services sor far. They managed to book us in the most demanded places on a last minute request. They were very professional and helpfull. On the other hand the hotel is strategically located, it is very easy to go to/from it with the metro, air France cars etc. The staff are very helpful and very welcoming... Rooms however, are very small and amenities are minimal. More could be invested in that regards, especially in items such as a safe. Another area of improvement is to have a platinum lounge on the 6 th floor to avoid the very long queues for breakfast especially on weekends December 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by perfect hotel for business travellers I always cherish my stay in this beautiful hotel. Staffs at the reception are warm and cordial. As a platinum member they always upgrade me. I appreciated the service extended to me by Ms.Carolina July 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfortable and professional One night stay in Paris in a quiet and conmfortable executive room. i appreciated the high level of professionalism (check-in/out, breakfast), very qualitative. July 18, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by was 7 times in the hotel - not sure if i will be back first of all i have to tell that upgrading according the spg policy is very important for me, here in the hotel its always the same, the never give nice suite upgrades, its always a little fight at the front desk, the property has over 1000 rooms and suites, i was booking about 8 weeks in advance, nobody can tell me that they sold all the suites... rest was ok like breakfast and staff.
