i have stayed here many times; this room was renovated but the smell from the bathroom was not very nice and the sink tap was very loose...i will be back but just saying...i informed staff at check out

This was my first visit to Montreal and to The Meridian. When we first entered hotel we noticed some dirt and minor maintenence problems in elevator and hallways. Room had a slight odor but after after a/c was turned on it seemed to disappear. Ice machine was 2 floors down but no big deal. Location is about 8 blocks from underground mall. Restaurants in surrounding area are mostly asian, pizza etc so it was hard to bring in a decent meal. There is a restaurant in hotel lobby but we didn't try it out. Room was well appointed and water pressure in tub/shower was very good.

We are SPG members and were upgraded to a great room (wish we had more time to enjoy it) even though we were using points plus cash. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful from the front desk to the valet parking attendant to a random staff member we met on the elevator. The room rate included free admission to two nearby museums. It was a short walk to McGill, but conveniently the #24 bus also stops right outside the hotel. It was also a short walk to metro. The hotel is on a very quiet street at night (our room overlooked Sherbrooke St), but just take a short walk (about two blocks and then take a right) to Crescent St and it is like another world with an abundance of lively restaurants and bars.

The room we had was very nice - newly renovated and spacious. The front desk was very helpful with restaurants suggestions as well. The common space can use a face lift. There is basically no lobby area and the front entrance is not welcoming.

I spent two nights here in May. The room was very clean, and the bed comfortable. There was an issue with the room being too hot, but the very nice staff responded immediately and this issue was settled quickly.
The people who work there were very, very nice and cared for the comfort of their guests.
The food at the local restaurant was excellent Italian fare.
This was a very pleasant stay, and I would recommend this hotel enthusiastically!
Thanks for everything! I will be back!

The location was great as it was close to numerous shopping districts and Old Montreal. We did alot of biking with Montreal's BIXI system and walking so this was very conveinient. The jetted tub was a pleasant surprise along with the decor and comfy bed. The kitchen and cupboards made it easy for us to purchase a few groceries rather than always eating out.
There was unusual nature music in the elevator that was amusement for us as well as other guests and we enjoyed the staff and overall charm. We would definately stay again!

This hotel is in an ideal location a few blocks from the downtown core and easily accessible to the metro. Due to it being located the few blocks from downtown- it is more quiet at night so you can get a good night's sleep.
In addition to the great location, the hotel’s staff is the most welcoming and attentive team that I have ever seen. Any questions that I had were answered and they went above and beyond all my expectations. Thank you so much to Steve, Issom, Derek and everyone else- you made my stay so great!

The hotel was well located except its a bit too far form the Airport Bus stop to walk over with bags.
Staff were friendly and recognised my Gold Status and were ready to help with anything.
One glitch - even though we booked as a couple, there was only one bathrobe, one bottle of complimentary water, one bar of soap etc- in short the set up was for single occupancy. and it took a day or so to sort this out.
Otherwise, a very nice 3.5 to 4 star property with friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel is conveniently located Down Town Montreal, within walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping. It is also reasonably priced. When arriving by car be prepared to wonder where car drop off is. There was nobody in front of the front entrance to guide and there are no signs directing you to drive around the corner where you can use valet service or park yourself.

Rooms need some updating, esp. the bathrooms. Valet/Bell Staff service was bad. Checked in after a snow storm, I pulled up in front of the hotel and the Bell/Valet informed me it was a bus stop and told me to pull around to the side. Neither the spaces nor the sidewalk were clear and he never came to assist me with my bag. Breakfast in the morning was very overpriced and I was served cold toast both days. Front Desk, housekeeping and the night staff in the rest were all very nice.

We had planned to stay at this property for 4 days and left after 1 night. Boutique hotel it is not. Very average rooms, bathroom not so clean, food terrible. We were given an upgrade (sounds good!) Upon check in and were told that continental breakfast was included. Next morning had "breakfast" (toast w peanut butter-rest of food was canned or not well prepared) and was subsequently charged $50!! Explained situation to front desk and manager who basically called us liars. Most likely trying to recoup cost of our upgrade. Never ever had this happen before-totallly stole money from us. Would NEVER trust such an establishment who mistreats guests this way. Went to W Montreal-amazing, true "boutique" hotel. Even they were horrified when they heard our story and gave us a real "free" upgrade. LMS are thieves.

We have stayed at Le Meridien many times over the years and have always appreciated the outstanding front desk staff and restaurant service, the rooms, and general ambiance. This stay however the housekeeping was actually substandard. Surfaces were not cleaned, especially in the bathroom, amenities were not restocking, not enough towels in the bathroom, and one morning cleaning staff turned up at 8:15 am to clean. This was disappointing. That aside, the stay was otherwise great.

a great hotel and staff, have stayed there many times!
i attend an event in Montreal that requires me to pre-pay for three night in advance...we stay at total of 4 night.... 4 months in advance.
the hotel then puts a hold on my credit card for the pre-paid nights! I have spoken to management on this issue before my stay and was assured it was aginst policy and would not happen...... it happened again. the dest manager resolved it, but there is no excuse for this happening !!!

love the hotel and staff!!
however every year, i have stayed here many times, there is a large hold on my credit card after the final bill!!! it is explained as a "system error"..... that is NO excuse.....
due to this i may change hotels for my next trip.

Our most recent stay at the Meridien was in January 2012. We have been staying at this hotel for the last 6 years and have not been disappointed. Yes, there are rooms without a view other than the high rise next door, but there are also rooms looking out over Sherbrooke. What makes this hotel special is the welcoming, professional, and helpful staff. We are SPG members and were upgraded even though we were redeeming points for this stay. We look forward to our next visit.

We spent 3 days here in November and we're looking forward to returning. We arrived early and accepted a downgrade from the executive room we'd booked in order to get into a room earlier. We weren't sorry we did. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The restaurant staff were super as well. The sommelier went above and beyond in helping us with a sauternes. Staff are all young professionals and that bodes well for their employers. Great people make for a great hotel!

This is my second stay with Meridien. I am very pleased with the service. The hotel is worn but comfortable enough and clean enough. It felt a little dirty because of the carpet but I know it is due to age. The staff more than makes up for it though.
The restaurant in the building is not very good either but the hotel is close to great restaurants! I will be back. I was told that they are renovating so I'm sure that the negatives of this review will be fixed.

My daughter and I stayed in a King Suite for two nights. The room was a corner, all glass and large. We could not get the room to reach a comfortable temperature no matter how hard we tried to reduce the heat. The wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling and there were toenail clippings on the floor even after housekeeping came. Overall - this hotel has nice staff but it's dated and not as clean as one would expect. It's also not a typical "full service" hotel.

This hotel is probably one of Montreal's best kept secrets. We discovered it several years back and have not stayed anywhere else since. It is a BOUTIQUE hotel. If you want a large fancy one, this is not for you. If you want great and friendly service, a nice comfrtable clean room try it. The staff makes you feel like family and bend over backwards to accomodate. Only problem this trip wasour was during a cold spell and the hallways were quite chilly.

From beginning to end the staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. We used the valet parking which was great- a little pricey, but this is a big city, and the convenience was perfect.
I like a firmer bed, but if you like the poofy, softer top beds, it was good. I liked the style of decor, but it was tired. I'm told they are in for a total renovation, and it is due.
The only negative was the grout in the shower and the showerhead were gross

The water closed was not working on arrival, an I had to call two times for repair. The safe was not working, but was repaire. The corridor at my froor was not cleaned. Next time in Montreal I will change Hotel

Thursday and Friday's maid service was excellent. On Saturday and Sunday the towels were not replenished in sets of 3. We did receive 3 hand towels but no bath mat and only 2 bath towels plus one wash cloth. The regular coffee, paper cups and creamer were not replenished. The front desk staff was awesome!!! When we requested higher wattage bulbs for the bathroom mirror, two 100 watt bulbs repalced the 40 watt bulbs, immediately!!!

Staff is very friendly and accomodating.
Rooms are a bit dated, but from what I understand, they are working on renovations.
Not as centrally located yet not too far from all the major activities like old port etc.
Bed was reasonably comfortable.
We stayed in a junior suite yet it only had two towels. The staff did not replenish items as they should have, however, on request they were quickly supplied.
Excellent value for money!!
