Le Méridien Piccadilly sits in the heart of London’s West End one block from Piccadilly Circus and the famous Fortnum and Mason department store. It's got the perfect location for a London visit! The Le Meridien is a modern and sophisticated hotel. I love the Le Meridien brand and this experience was no different.
My check-in experience was not that smooth – atypical of a Starwood property and especially of Le Meridien. The receptionist checking me in seemed to have trouble with my reservation and it took a bit longer than normal to get checked-in. She also did not tell me about the concierge lounge, offer late check-out or provide any other information about the hotel.
My room was located on the second floor with a view of a cement wall – it just wasn’t my week for rooms with a view. The only plus side to a bad view is a quiet room – and mine definitely was. While I was upgraded from a Deluxe Room to a Club Room – I couldn’t really tell the difference between the two room types. The room was spacious for London and had a king bed, chaise lounge, work desk and large closet. The bathroom was very small and the position of the bathroom door was a bit awkward. It always was in the way.
The showerhead in my shower was broken – there was only a small trickle of water coming out of it even with the water turned on full force. I called the front desk and someone was in my room to fix it in under five minutes. Once the shower was fixed, I quickly discovered that it didn’t drain so well, and the floor was soaked every morning after I showered. On the second day, I also discovered there were no tissues in the room, I called to request a box, and again, someone was there within minutes. I was impressed with the response time to all requests.
The second day, something happened to the door of my room and the security latch would not close. I called the operator and she sent someone to my room. The engineer had to replace the latch – which took two trips – but he had it fixed within 15 minutes. The operator even called me back to make sure it had been fixed and I felt safe in the room – that was a very nice touch.
The hotel wireless internet was unreliable at best. I continually had to re-login and the signal was very weak. The wired internet was better, but obviously not usable with an iPad/iPhone. The desk did have a variety of outlets to fit UK, EU and US plugs – I love hotels that have this, such a great convenience.
I loved the colors in the room – grays, black and red – which made me feel right at home. I could have seen any of the decorations in my own home.
The Concierge Lounge
The lounge is located on the Mezzanine – which is incredibly hard to find without directions (there’s only one elevator that goes to the Mezzanine level.) Breakfast was crowded – probably even more than normal because the main restaurant was closed for renovations. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast – breads, fruits, cereals, etc…with additional items available for purchase. I didn’t visit the lounge at any other time of the day.
The hotel Overall
The hotel’s restaurant – The Terraces – was closed for renovations. The bar – Longitude 0°8′ was open and seemed very busy. Overall, the hotel was warm and friendly. The staff was very service oriented and paid attention to every detail. Other than the slow check-in experience, I found the service to be top-notch. Every issue I had in the room was fixed swiftly and the hotel made sure it was fixed to my satisfaction. The location of the Le Meridien Piccadilly is perfect for any London visit. I would absolutely stay at the Le Meridian Piccadilly again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LawyerCat Well-situated and comfortable
Unlike most reviewers I wasn't upgraded, although this may not have been a regular room because it had a small foyer which was very important because the room was near the elevators and this helped keep out the elevator bing.
The rooms themselves are spacious enough (for London they are a palace) and well-furnished. The blackout curtains work well which is important when you're traveling.
The location can't be beat. Other reviewers have talked about the Tube, but they haven't mentioned proximity to: Regent Street, Bond Street, and Jermyn Street retail, a short walk to the National Gallery and Portrait Gallery, and you're right at Piccadilly Circus. If you're going to the West End, you are exactly where you want to be. Cabs going by constantly, restaurants everywhere, you won't be disappointed.
London wouldn't be London without the much-vaunted customer service of the English, and my experience was no exception. When I arrived the hotel was entirely full. They let me leave my luggage but wouldn't let me use the gym or spa changing rooms because I wasn't checked in. And because check-in time is 3pm, they told me that I couldn't even try to get access before that. Considering my flight had landed at 6am and it was now 7am, that meant I had the opportunity to tour London. Such, such are the joys.
One last note: others have talked about the gym and pool, but if your fitness tastes go a bit more esoteric then you can still find a way to indulge them here. I've never seen a hotel gym with heavy bags before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Menton6 Great Option for families if Platinum
Obvious caveat is that my experience here is both with platinum status and that I am something of an independent traveler. Thus: Very pleased with upgraded suite when here with wife. Love the club lounge which provides a nice breakfast as well as happy hour and drinks throughout the day. Great location per proximity to tube and shops, and theatures and great parks and historical buildings. Really everything. (though could be a bit busy for some as if walk one way is like you are in times square) Great overall gym with pool and hot tub which I use after my runs in the parks. Will likely come back in future with kids and breakfast and pool and walks to park will be big hits. I saw a number of reviewers complained about the concierge. I can not say I am someone who searches and books on my own so never speak to them. Overall it is a very nice hotel where comfortable with young children and not over the top.. I like that as is all the hotel I need without being too snooty. Great for familes and others with top Starwood status.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JohnCManhattanbeachCA Staff goes above and beyond
I cannot begin to tell you of my experience with this amazing staff...I had an upgrade (suite) this past August with my wife and two children. Looking forward to all of the historic sites we began our 5 day stay. i chose this hotel as they are one of only a few hotels that are centrally located AND have a swimming pool, which for my kids is almost a must have ...The hotel is centrally located and less than 100 yards from the Piccadilly underground which became our gateway to this fabulous city. We were having a blast. Now here is where the fun started. On only the second day I was struck with a crippling pain in my back and stomach...Vomiting heavily, we thought I had food poisoning. My wife called down to the front desk and the staff called a Dr. who within 15 minutes was examining me in my room...His advice - get rushed immediately to a hospital. The staff arranged for a taxi and I hobbled in to it to the horror of my young children and was taken to the local hospital. It was determined that I had an abnormally large Kidney stone and that I required immediate surgery. Mind you we were heading to Monte Carlo in 3
days on the Eurostar train. Well I was admitted to the hospital where my wife stayed with me...I was in extreme pain, in a foreign country, and my 12 and 9 year old girls were back at the hotel. This was turning into a a nightmare vacation.
Here's where the hotel staff kicked into high gear. They assured us they would drop in and ensure our children were OK that first night. they provided our children the peace of mind of round the clock emergency support for any of their needs, they provided genuine care and compassion. And to my children's delight the staff also provide milk and cookies before bed! My children became regulars at breakfast and snack time - sometimes having to eat by themselves while my wife visited with me and the kids were soon minor celebrities with the staff. My wife stated that every day without fail all of the staff whether housekeeping, maintenance, concierge, or hostess/waiters would greet her by name with well wishes. She had no idea how they all learned who she was over the period of one day. I ended up being in the hospital for 3 and 1/2 days. Le Meridien staff called ahead to Monte Carlo and handled all of the hotel cancellations without me incurring any penalty cancellation fees. They also took my 5 day Monaco stay and simply converted it so I could convalesce "post-op" at Le Meridien Piccadilly in our same upgraded suite. They also handled the arrangements with Eurostar train and worked out an unheard of partial refund of my non-refundable train tickets. If you have ever dealt with Eurostar you will know what a feat this is!.
I finally returned to Le Meridien where the staff had flowers, gourmet chocolate, and plenty of much need water waiting for me in my room. After about a day or two I was up and around and while admittedly at a much slower pace, began to enjoy the London sites...For me this type of treatment is unheard of in the fast pace, "make a buck at any cost" day and age we live in...and there is no where else I would even think to stay
in London if and when my travels take me back there again...by the way the indoor pool and the spa were also very nice amenities!!!!
And Finally my family would like to thank these fine employees ( forgive the spelling), night duty mgr Maria Dessi , Concierge team Luis Cano, George Cosgrove, and the entire Club lounge team especially Andrea Zelles who is one of the most kind, personable hotel employees I have come across in any of my travels both business or pleasure...I hope this note finds it way to a desk of an Starwood/SPG regional manager or
president sometime/somewhere in the future.
Thank you all again for getting a rather horrific vacation back on the tracks!.

I discovered the Meridien Piccadilly a couple of years ago, and it's now my fav! Located steps from Piccadillly Circus tube stn. its 40 minutes/no line changes from Heathrow. Rooms are large/suitable for familiies. Be sure to get upgraded as the Mezz. level lounge is fantastic (they even serve afternoon tea!). Check out the basement, where you will find an exercise room and a full size art deco pool! (perhaps the only hotel pool in central London!). The staff are incredibly helpful!

Rated 4 out of 5 by PriorGuest Great hotel in a great location
The hotel is well located between 2 underground stations on 2 different lines (Jubilee and Piccadilly), making access to the rest of the city very easy. Hotel staff is very attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable with regard to asking for directions. I stayed here for business, so it's not ideally located to Canary Wharf (30 min. underground ride), but definitely offers more after hours entertainment than CW.

Our third stay here at the LM Piccadilly. Nice hotel in a great location a block away from Piccadilly Circus and an easy walk to major attractions and the West End Theater District.
We arrived around 9am and our room was available. Check in was a breeze. Our room was nicely appointed on the 8th floor with a large bathroom, king bed and sofa.
A nice touch was the ability the plug in to charge our phones, IPads, etc., through the USB port station on the desk. Although equipped with adapters, this feature was very convenient.
The club lounge on the Mezzanine level was very comfortable and well stocked for breakfast and evening snacks. Staff in the lounge, as well as front desk and concierge was very pleasant and professional.
Can't beat the location. Will return again.

2 rooms booked and asked for connecting rooms which had been booked a while back through platinum ambassador. When arrived no connecting rooms, but rooms beside each other. Is this me or does this happen to everyone? Never get connecting rooms even though Platinum member!
A little annoyed, but what can you do basically. Heart of London, so location is excellent. Room needed fixing as one rooms floor was well wonky. Not what I expect from a Le Meridien hotel.
Club lounge was well crazy, too small and not enough staff. The staff tried their best, but never ending issues with crazy guests. They tried their best, but management need to do better.
Overall good hotel due to location.

Have stayed at the Le Meridien Picadilly on multiple occasions due to its central London location for business and tourist purposes. Great SPG platinum recognition - have always been upgraded to a Junior suite. Good pool and friendly staff. Rooms generally need an upgrade in terms of being up to date - seem a little worn out.
My preferred London location due to great access.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Patrick99 Frequent guest, and always leave with a smile.
I have been a frequent guest at this hotel over the last 6 months. When I checked in this time, the woman actually remembered me, which was a great way to be greeted after a terrible flight experience.
I was upgraded to a "club" room, number 450. I would have liked a junior suite or suite, but I am seeing it was very rare to get those at this hotel, so take notice. This room was located through 2 sets of doors in a stairwell. Despite its privacy, it was difficult to find, and almost had given up and gone back to ask before peaking into the stairwell. The hotel NEEDS better signage or at least NEEDS to inform guests of the room location at check-in. The corridors and random stairs and turns are already difficult to navigate.
Upon getting into my room, the carpet was filthy, and it appeared there was vomit on it, next to the bed. There were also only 2 towels in the room, but a call to housekeeping to request this cleaned and towels was quickly addressed. Although, on subsequent days, there were only 2 towels left.
This was the first time I used the pool, and it was once of the nicest pools, hot tubs, and saunas at any hotel, especially for a Central London hotel.
The club lounge still needs some work. The drinks in the afternoon are great, as is tea. Breakfast is a joke. I was actually on a rate that included breakfast, but I was told I could not take it in the dining room, it had to be the club lounge. That breakfast was maybe "half" of what a continental breakfast would be in any other hotel in the city. It needs to be addressed, especially when it is paid for!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spb2nyc Nice and spacious
Staying for 6 nights. Can recommend to ask room 901 - round room in upper tower - nice, stylish and spacious (windows are small in that room but you can see most parts of London). Good fitness and great evening sneaks/wines in lounge. Only three bad points for hotel: internet works worse than normal (and I should registered many times a day), receptionist doesn't pick up phone sometimes and hotel is located in noisy place - so I always heard traffic sounds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by traveller410 Convenient location for London tourist attractions
We stayed here for 1 night in April. The location is great for walking to attractions, museums, etc, and for hopping on the Underground. Easy walk with luggage from the Piccadilly stop to the hotel.
The room was comfortable and clean. Staff were all pleasant - nothing above and beyond - but not rude either.
I stayed on points, so can't speak to the value for the $$ it costs to stay here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Neoteros Right in the heart of London
My wife and I spent two nights at this evocative hotel, right in the heart of London.
The location could hardly be better as it is at a walking distance from the most important touristic attractions. For those a bit lazier, the tube station is just a hundred meters away.
Responsive front desk, welcoming and caring staff, excellent service at the Club Lounge, full recognition of my Platinum status - the junior suite I got was really nice!
Asked for some elements needing improvement, I would mention some connectivity problems with the Wi-Fi connection.
Of course, since the room at the second floor was facing Piccadilly the traffic noise was reaching us from time to time, in particular in case of police/ambulance sirens, but I cannot complain with that.
All in all a very pleasant experience and I see no reason not to warmly recommend this hotel!

My husband, 2 children and I recently returned from a trip to London. The location of this hotel is ideal for sightseeing. St James Park and Green Park are within easy walking distance, and just a little further away are Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, and Buckingham Palace. We spent our first day with a leisurely walk from the hotel to watch the horse guards, then to Westminster Abbey, Parliament building, Big Ben, then over the bridge to the London Eye. It is also just steps away from the tube. Right across the street is Waterstones bookstore, and about a block away is Fortnum & Mason for wonderful cream tea. The front desk staff, especially Drew, were very helpful and accommodating. The staff at the club lounge were also very well trained and professional. The lounge was always well stocked with a choice of drinks and we would have used it more if our schedule had allowed it. Our room was clean and pleasant. The beds were fresh and comfortable, The bathroom was also clean, although slightly dated. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay. And again, I can't stress enough how great the location is for seeing London's major landmarks. We would definitely stay here again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Womanover30 Great staff!
First of all - the location is just perfect. As you step out of the hotel you have a bookshop right across the street, Fortnum&Mason to your right and Piccadilly to your left. Perfect! The check-in was kind and fast and though we hadn't stayed here before we got a room with a lovely view. However, be aware that the deposition they require on check-in is quite large. The breakfast buffet held everything you could wish for, the bar gave us two complimentary, very well made cappuccinos and the restaurant served very tasty dishes. The restaurant has a glass roof and view of the street, just wonderful. We needed to know lots of things so we talked a lot to the concierges and they all knew, it seemed, everything without having to look it up! Great service. But best of all, BEST of all, was the great staff. Everyone we met, and we met a lot of staff, seems like they have a good supply, were kind, polite and easy-going. It's a welcome treat to encounter staff who truly treats you as a person and not just a guest. Because if you're on holiday you're usually in a good mood and WANT to meet people to talk to. Not just "staff". The only thing that prevents me from giving this hotel a 5 is that the bathroom was fairly small for two people's toiletries. I'll probably stay here again next time I'm in London.

The location of this hotel is superb for those coming to see London. Walking distance to the theatre district, SOHO, Trafalgar Square, etc. We arrived early in the day and they made every attempt to get us in our suite ASAP. The room with 2 bathrooms was VERY appreciated. Thank you! The lounge was friendly and well stocked with drinks and much more than the traditional rolls and jam for breakfast. The only criticism is for the decorator of the rooms. We had a fabulous entry way, and a wonderful vintage round window in the sitting room which should have been celebrated rather than ignored. I understand that this is out of the immediate managements control, but just want to give the feedback for the next remodel. Celebrate the architecture!

Rated 4 out of 5 by GregR This hotel could be amazing...
We stayed here for 5 nights for my wife's birthday vacation to London. We used extra points to book a Jr. Suite & put in for the suite upgrades. We received an email that we were upgraded to the Executive suite, we are Platinum. We arrived at the Le Meridien in the morning & were told they were working on our room. They gladly stored our luggage & gave us access to their club lounge. The club lounge had sodas, a very nice coffee/espresso machine, and they usually had some sort of food offering all day long. It wasn't long before we were checked into our suite - when you walked in there was a window where in the distance you could see Big Ben, there was a nice sized room with a couch, chair, desk, TV, and table with 4 chairs, then there was a VERY long hallway to the bedroom with the tiniest bathroom made for tiny people. Our heads hit the showerhead. The bedroom itself was a nice size (we have travelled many times to Europe & their hotels are all very old & historic so we expect tiny rooms even with upgrades!# I do think the bathrooms could use some sort of upgrading - maybe a curved shower curtain even. The room was clean & stocked with nice amenities, there was even a cute little armoire in the wall that had room for hanging clothes. The staff fell below the expectations we have for a hotel of this star rating. Every year we travel somewhere for my wife's birthday and this is the very first time her birthday was never acknowledged. No card, no special delivery, no Happy Birthday, nothing. Whenever we needed to talk to the front desk there were always massive lines of people & when we did get to a person they seemed to not really want to help us. We stayed 5 nights & our sheets were never changed, no one stocked tissues until the 3rd day #even with asking & calling#, and we even had to ask for more toiletries by the 3rd day. My wife booked a tour with the concierge & he seemed put off by her questions, we always saw staff chatting with guests about tea parties or even the Queen, we weren't sure what we did wrong to not get the same attention. One thing that was nice was my wife had injured her knee & they brought up an ice bucket and towels super quickly & offered to get a doctor. I'm thinking these staff members should be cloned & work at the front desk! The location was very nice for walking everywhere, though it was a bit touristy if you walked out to the left of the hotel, it was a lot like Times Square. There were casinos nearby #nothing like our usual casinos#, tons of places to eat, and this hotel was very close to train stations where we took day tours. It was also very close to the hop on/hop on bus stop. All in all we felt the room size, location of the hotel, and the club lounge were wonderful. We probably would give the hotel a second chance, but they really have a chance to be an amazing place to stay in the heart of London... We cannot comment on their indoor pool, we heard it was great but we were exhausted every day & it closed early on the Sunday we actually had available.. Highly recommend taking a day trip to Liverpool & also Scotland, go to Harrod's #try not to lose your sanity as the place is giant & filled shoulder to shoulder with people!), do a high tea at Fortnum & Mason & then spend lots of money there on teas & jellies to take home, Tower Of London, oh, and God Save The Queen!!!

Had a three night stay here in August, after the Olympics. As spg platinum members we were upgraded to a jr. suite that had a very small bed. Asked for a room with a king size bed, and was given another jr. suite . They seemed to be out of regular suites, but the jr. suite was rather big.
- the room (facing courtyard) was surprisingly quiet
- bottle of wine was awaiting us on the second day, that is how to treat platinum members!
- the bathroom was old and dingy, and the aircon pretty noisey.
- the lounge could be rather crowded at times.
- windows were small, so not a lot of natural light
We snagged a great deal, and would stay here again - if we could find a similar bargain.

The hotel is sleek and clean, with a modern fitness centre that is open late (featuring cardio machines, weight training and a swimming pool).
Good central location, within easy access to the City and Canary Wharf using the underground and walking distance to many good restaurants in the Covent Garden/Mayfair areas.
The quality of the rooms is of SPG standard. All of them have been recently refurbished and the rooms on the 1st floor have been fully renovated.
The staff should be commended for being available, helpful and efficient in all respects. Having stayed at this facility for an extended period of time, I was always treated with courtesy and respect.

Hotel was nicely located near the heart of London city. Only 1 minute walk from tube station. Love the decoration. However, services from staff were unexpectedly lower than usual SPG hotels (given that I stayed 200 nights a year in SPG hotels) - Failed to update me if I could have got a room after my 2 days waiting list + not very helpful when I tried to store the luggage after check-out.

The hotel is located right near Piccadilly Circus, theaters and Fortnum Mason. The rooms come in very different sizes, and the upgrades are well worth the extra dollars. The club lounge has a good breakfast. Small issues keep this from being five star. Fantastic spa and gym, but it opens fairly late for those doing business and trying to squeeze in exercise before meetings. The concierge is not terribly helpful.
