Rated 4 out of 5 by Nasser Excellent Location, staff and services
When I made the reservation on-line I requested connecting rooms, Ms Pais called me overseas and confirmed my request. gave me excellent rooms and provided me with all the best SPG awards from upgrading, free internet, Club lounge and all. I had an excellent stay. Yes the hotel is old but well kept. problems with housekeeping, lack of training and supervision. I would fire the Housekeeing manager but not the staff.
Rated 3 out of 5 by CC21122012in Attitude of Duty Manager/ Laundry Service Mistakes
1. I have sent my linen table mat for wash and requested 'strong starch', they came back only washed and pressed, no starch at all. Due to late hours, there is nothing they could do for me. When I checked out, I realized they charged me 'dry clean' for my laundry which I only requested normal laundry. I couldn't have time to wait for their action due to tight departure time. 2. My room is reserved by my colleague with his name, when I checked in, I expect my room will be changed under my own name. After 10 mins of unsuccessful logging into wifi, i called for help, the front staff's explained the system is registered with MY ROOM number and MY COLLEAGUE's last name; I don't understand why it is like that, my room is under someone's last name, but they put me as 'accompany' with... (my colleague), the staff's attitude is unpleasant when I asked for reasons, then he passed me to the duty manager when I wanted to make a complaint on his attitude, I was stunned to have the duty manager on that evening, Mr. D. M, who has the exact attitude towards my enquiry regarding the system, which caused me inconvenience. Believe or not, I go hung up by the duty manager, by saying 'sorry, there is nothing we could do about it, it is how the system works, have a good day!' (click!) As a platinum member and stayed in numerous SPG hotels, this is the worse ever experienced. What a shame!
Rated 3 out of 5 by Dusty Hotel fine club room does not work
Having just stayed at this hotel twice in the last month I twice had to complain that in the mornings there were too many people in a small space ,not enough food or staff to look after them. The main restaurant was quiet in the mornings and the club room a disaster. For the last two days of my stay my wife and I had breakfast in the main dining room which was perfect.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Rich2809 Good Location
Very over priced. Not a great atmosphere.
Rooms are ok,
Rated 3 out of 5 by montelux nice location but..
the rest. Is not value for money, apart from the launge
Rated 3 out of 5 by dinsdale very average
staff were unhelpful, if you wanted something done you had to find the specific member of staff that performed the task you wanted doing. No one would assist if it was not their actual job. I found the staff attitude surly. Bathrooms very poor. We also had to wait when we were leaving as our luggage got mislaid.
Rated 3 out of 5 by JK47 Great location, very hit and miss service
I have stayed at this hotel a few times. Plat recognition is pretty good with an upgrade to a junior suite offered on all occasions. While some of the staff are quite helpful, there are some members of the staff who are hopeless.
What makes this place special is the location. However, the area is very congested, so if you want a quiet area, you should look elsewhere.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Dom51 OK But bad bathrooms
HAve stayed many times ..and as platinum member the experience is good value..not so good now when you are gold as you need the upgrades to make it a decent experience.
Shower and bathroom very average..no power and very small thin bathroom
Staff were OK and location v.good
Rated 3 out of 5 by Kentl Terrible Shower
Le Meridian Hotel is conveniently located and has a very modern feel. As an SPG Gold member I was given a very nicely appointed room (very large by Europe standards) with a nice, comfortable king size bed.
However, the shower was terrible. It felt like I was under a squirt gun as the water power was anemic. It took my twice as long to shower because of the lack of water power. My final morning in the hotel I actually had to wash my hair in the sink and my second day I went to the spa to shower
I expect that kind of shower in a budget hotel but not in a 4 star, 350 euro per night SPG property
Rated 3 out of 5 by milkchug Fantastic location but an OK experience
I was most surprised by the fantastic location; you literally walk out of the hotel and you're literally blocks from everything, Starbucks, theaters, restaurants, shopping, etc. The major downside was the overall service, from the lackluster concierge who didn't seem interested in providing any special service, to the front desk which was unresponsive to our requests to issues with our electrical plugs.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Jackie27 Inexperience shows
Staff was young and generally inexperienced. One terrific concierge (Luis), the rest, not so knowledgeable or effective. Unable to make a restaurant reservation I later made myself. Booked a taxi for me to the airport that I had already rejected as unduly expensive and no different than any other taxi readily hailed on the street. Switched us from one tiny room to another (porter guessed the reason immediately). No special Starwood recognition.
Absolutely terrific location;near theater, sights, shops.
Rated 2 out of 5 by JohnBoston123 Save your money and go elsewhere
I recently made platinum and was so excited to use my suite upgrades for a guys weekend before a week of work in London.
Upon check-in the front desk person didn't know they had confirmed the suite upgrade and had to get a manager once I showed her the confirmation email. Then the room wasn't ready. All in all, check in using the SPG gold/platinum line was about 30 minutes.
The disappointment didn't end there. If you are planning to upgrade to a suite, save your money. The suite we were "upgraded" to had three large windows, one faced an air shaft and the other two faced a brick wall. It felt like we booked a room in a basement or a cave.
The bed was horribly old, so old that the springs were sticking out the side as the bed had been compressed for so long. It was like sleeping on a towel on the hardwood floor.
The bathroom was really outdated and was basically being held together by caulking. The tiles were coming off the shower wall, there was two inches of caulk around everything, tiles were cracked, the tub was peeling, sink was cracked, hot water took about 7 minutes to come through in the morning (a lot of wasted water), tub dripped all night, the towel heater consistently leaked water all over the floor, the fixtures were a mix of cheap chrome, real chrome and bronze all of a different style (very tacky), ceilings were stained and cracked and there was not bathroom fan so it was like one big steam room. Worst bathrooms I've seen in any Starwood property.
On the plus side, the air conditioning and television worked well, the housekeeping staff kept the place neat, bathroom water pressure was excellent and the lounge was nice with great access to soda and coffee all day.
The rooms were clean and the furniture was mostly updated except for the the horrible, horrible bed. I would much rather a comfortable bed than a new head board.
To be fair, the front desk did offer to change rooms for us the next day but it would no longer be a real suite and we would need to be back at the hotel for 4pm to re-pack all our stuff. It would be a room with a king size bed and a sofa (they call it a suite) - not worth using the suite upgrades for.
The location is fantastic and the rooms were very quiet. Of course I faced a brick wall so I can't comment what it would be like if you faced Piccadilly
I'm really upset I wasted my suite upgrades at this hotel and will likely never stay here again. it was a total waste of upgrades.
Buyer beware, if you are booking a suite and want a suite which has a separate bedroom you are limited to facing a brick wall and air shaft with no outside sun. Such a waste, especially when the room was nearly $500 USD.
There are other more updated Starwood brands within walking distance. I'd recommend checking them out. Starwood should really do something about updating the bathrooms and mattresses. This is not up to the standards I expect from a Starwood property.
Rated 2 out of 5 by jim12345 Great location but needs major renovation
I choose this hotel because of the central location but was surprised at how rundown the rooms are. The carpets are old and stained, the floors squeak, the temperature gauge is only a 'plus or 'minue' and has no numbers, the internet is spotty. I am SPG Platinum but still wasn't able to check in until almost an hour past the hotel check-in time, the room I received wasn't even an SPG 'Preferred' room and was on a corner with windows facing an alley which was noisy between midnight and 7am (staff unloading tables, garbage trucks, etc). I asked to move my room but never got a call back from staff. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone
Rated 2 out of 5 by arvitam A Category 6 How? at best a 4 but more like a 3
Excellent Location, excellent Staff especially Nicolas at the Front desk.
The rest is below average.
How can this hotel be a category 6 beside the location.
Rooms need to be redone entirely.
Terrible bathroom, terrible furniture and the beds are far from being comfortable.
This is a Category 4 at best
I would like to have some explanation why it's a 6, ReallY!?
Rated 2 out of 5 by nybiztravel not a luxury hotel, poor service
TV did not work and the engineers could not fix on first night
No hairdryer - I checked all drawers before calling- was in a hurry and let the front desk know that I needed a hair dryer asap, and even so, they called me to make sure I'd checked all the drawers, after I explicitly said I had
Terrible room with no light or view
Rated 2 out of 5 by michele good location but needs improvement
I stayed here from June 2nd to June 5th. I was put in a very noisy room right next to elevator/stairs and house keeping closet. i could not sleep at all. so i asked to be moved. they said they would move me when i return from my work in the evening. when i returned they had not moved me and had to wait in the line to get access to the reception staff. finally they moved me. the toilet in the new room was not working properly so they had to come to fix it. needless to say it was not a pleasant experience. what i also found is the reception desk staff is fairly small. that means for check in or check out or room change you do have to wait for at least 15-20 minutes before you could speak with the reception staff.
Rated 2 out of 5 look elsewhere
small outdated room. found out only the 1st floor has been renovated ? you can get MUCH better value elsewhere. even the beds/mattresses are old as is the furniture and the lighting in the room is terrible. UNDERwhelmed.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Business5 Poor Room Facilities
Just wanted to share the disappointing stay these last couple of days, no problems with the staff but the room was decidedly low par.....it was hot in the room so switched the air con on...constantly trying to see if it would be turned higher only to find it was kicking heat out when I checked in the morning! so a very poor nights sleep ..... The one thing you ask for when on business.
In the bathroom the shower curtain was hung on a curtain rail so it came off every time you tried to pull it!- did not look like meridien standard either.
For info it is room 504 if you want to fix it but sadly will think again before staying on my next business trip.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mkbflorida Do not stay in room 411
We stayed on points and also requested a suite night request. It was honored.
It is a two room suite with a large sitting room with a tacky futon, tv and small dining table. The suite contains 1.5 baths.
The biggest problem is the sitting room is cold. There is no heat. After complaining twice, they sent up a portable heater which did not warm the large space. The sitting room was unusable in the evening. The windows are drafty and the exterior windows blow open.
The floor plan is very awkward. The desk chair is in the way of the door in the bedroom and it is a tight squeeze to get to the closet. The lighting isn't great either. There is no light over the dining table.
The carpet is seriously stained and the furniture is a strange hodgepodge of modern and tired traditional. The mattress also needs to be replaced...very uncomfortable on one side.
The location is great for sightseeing. The tube is very close and there is so much you can walk to if the weather cooperates.
The club lounge is great with snacks, drinks, breakfast, etc. The health club is fine also.
I would stay again if I received a better room/suite. I would be very careful about upgrading to a suite.
Rated 2 out of 5 by ghp2 Disappointing stay at an average hotel
For a SPG Category 6, you'd expect a truly luxury experience, but the reality is that Le Meridien Piccadilly has average (if not subpar) décor and average service levels. Hallway carpets were worn, paint in the rooms was marked, food in the Club Lounge was of low quality, and check in staff were less than helpful. Check in was unpleasant - the room wasn't ready (at 4PM) and they claimed they didn't have an alternative, so I was told I'd just have to wait in the lobby. Not the bar with a drink voucher or the club room (which I would have access to once my room was available anyway). After an hour I talked to a different member of the staff who found me a room eventually. I wouldn't bother with this hotel again.
Rated 2 out of 5 by SteveL Attitude Adjustment Needed
Overall, the hotel was ok and you can't beat the location.Clean and semi modern with an amazing gym/pool area. The room I was in was a bit bland, and having stayed at other Le Meriden's I expected more. The bed was lumpy and sagged, the walls were drab and the washroom needed a good scrubbing.
The other issue was the staff. Overall they were unpleasant, avoided eye contact whenever possible and didn't go out of their way to assist. When they did help, they were helpful. At checkin, I had to request my amenity as I wasn't offered it.
Overall, for the prices they charge I don't feel this hotel is worth it and you have much better options around town. However if the location is critical then you won't go wrong.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lucy0 "Beware" does not meet typical SPG standards!
We stayed in the LE Meridien in January 2012. We were really unhappy with the cleanliness of the room! I kept a towel on the bathroom floor the whole time because the floor was so dirty! It truly needed to be SCRUBBED!! The carpet in the halls and on the stairs needed vacuumed badly! We experienced two different concierges, the first one couldn't give us any recommendations for a place to eat except their own restaurant upstairs, which we did end up eating at because we were tried and hungry and didn't feel like going out wondering at 8:30 pm with our child with out having some idea where to go. We found the waiter to be rude and the hamburger meat tasted terrible. The experience the next day with a different concierge was even worse!! He stared at his computer the whole time I was asking for information and seemed put out for me to be inquiring about tourist information! I thought that was part of their job description. The location of this hotel was the only plus about this hotel and I did contact SPG to inform them. If your staying there expecting a SPG hotel... this hotel does not meet the standards!
Rated 2 out of 5 by Summit63 Good location but blah rooms and overpriced
i have stayed here three times and each time ended up in very small, old, unimpressive rooms. If you don't have plat status, you definitely are treated like a 2nd class citizen (even though rates are 300 GBP/nt). There are many more hotels on the area with better appointed rooms for the same price.
Rated 2 out of 5 by SPGtraveler415 Disappointing End to Vacation
Stayed here on the last night of a trip through the UK which included several great stops at other SPG properties. Glad it was only one night as my room was dismal. Small and dark with a window that was apparently covered over. Tiny bathroom. Lots of noise from the nearby restaurant with slamming hallway doors. Not sure if lounge was open as I certainly wasn't informed about it from the staff. I asked for another room as a SPG Platinum member and was informed there wasn't another single room in the entire hotel. Very, very disappointed. The lobby and common areas are beautiful but my room looked like it belonged in a 2 star hotel.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Chairman53 No hot water!
If you arrive and are told you have been upgraded, ask to which room! Being in a hurry to make an appointment I didn't realise until my return after midnight that our view was of the central well of the hotel, full of noisy equipment necessitating earplugs to sleep through it. And there was no hot water in the room. Response from the engineer was very poor - an offer to send someone to check the room when convenient. I reported this to desk on checkout and was met with indifference. Not good enough at £450 a night.
Rated 1 out of 5 by BizTraveler999 Very disappointing
Low quality hotel all-around. Staff is very friendly, but that's the best and only thing this hotel has.
Rated 1 out of 5 by VA77 Horrible Customer Service
I am a platinum member that had a last second cancellation due to illness. I travel to London all the time and originally the hotel would not issue a credit. Then they conceded they would and when I went to re-cboook using the credit the realtions manager completely ignored me. I have never had this type of customer service issues at a Starwood hotel outside of this property. They were rude on the phone, by email, pretty much any way you can think about. Good news is that I run a consulting group with a lot of clients that go to London or are based in London and trust me they will all hear about my experience.
Rated 1 out of 5 by CalifTraveler Great Location, Poorly managed
You can't ask for a better location, within walking distance of many attractions and close to the Picadilly underground station. Management seems to feel that they don't have to do anything to make your stay pleasant, since you're staying there for the location. Rooms are noisy, club lounge is way understaffed, and apparently has been for a long time. It is also noisy and often very crowded. Food runs out.
This hotel has the worst platinum recognition of any major Starwood hotel I've stayed at. I'll leave it at that. Nice staff, but poorly managed.
Rated 1 out of 5 by travelfrequent Small rooms & Poor Customer Service
Do not stay at this hotel if you are a starwood preferred member, it is the worst of the starwood hotels in London. Customer service is unsatisfactory, rooms are small and it is very
difficult to reach management in order to remedy an issue.
