Rated 5 out of 5 by TGrec17 Most amazing stay ever!!!!
My wife and I have never been more looked after at a property of any hotel group ever in our life. We are SPG platinum and have become accustomed of the SPG red carpet. This, however, was above and beyond any red carpet you could think of. From the second we got there, they knew exactly who we were, our travel plans, what we were celebrating etc. Special thanks to Roomesh, our SPG coordinator for making our 5th wedding anniversary special. All the hotel management even down to the bottom! Regular employees I've never spoken to the entire trip knew our names, room number and what our preferences were. It was one of the most incredible feelings we've ever had. God bless these people. So amazing. Thanks guys!!!!

We were a family staying in the Nirvana Section. My mother, brother, and my husband all met as we live in different countries. My mother booked the day before so that we could go directly to our rooms upon our early arrival. She booked, and paid for the day of the 2nd September, so that early on the 3rd we could have our rooms. My husband and I arrived first and were dropped off at the main reception, we were informed our rooms were not ready, and that we would have to wait until 3pm. I complained that we had paid for the night before and our rooms should be ready. They said that there was nothing they could do and that they would "try" to have our rooms ready - we booked and paid full price so that we could go directly to our rooms - this was terrible service. As I have previously worked for a 5 star hotel, I very well know that there was something they could have done, and that someone had made a mistake, and that they should have dealt with it better, rather than be flippant with us.
After we finally made it to our room everything was very nice. All through our stay we were well taken care of by the Nirvana section team, and the members of La Faya.
Poolside was beautiful, and the towels and water were always available. Service was great, with excellent bartenders. All the bartenders from the Nirvana section were fun, and personable, and very professional. They remembered everything we drank, where we sat, and even what we were up to.
La Faya was the best restaurant - with great service. Nitish was a fantastic manager. He made us feel welcome, and tailor-made the experience, which made us want to return for every meal. He knew what we wanted, the wine we liked, etc. Avish worked out a dining dilemma one night - which I kindly thank him for. Shanty was beautiful the entire time. I would love to thank all of the team for their great work - even if I didn't write their names here. The food was also exceptional, and I know it is difficult to get recognition in the kitchen as you are not visible - the chefs all need big, big thanks for the delicious food they produced every day.
Shells was a bit of a disappointment as the menu was not written in a way that was easy to navigate. 180 degrees was nice every visit. The team were all friendly and professional. The food was always delicious.
Housekeeping was really good, and they were very friendly - they went above and beyond with us. My mother was particularly fond of Liliah. I had little towel animals made, and I thought they were awesome.
The gym was a little outdated, and the aircon needed to be fixed. It was a little sweat box in there. It was kept very tidy and clean though.
Upon checkout we were leaving and as it was with check-in, check-out was the let down. We were leaving later in the day, and wanted our check-out to be extended for one of the rooms until 6pm. I know this is not always possible - so I understand. We asked days before if this was possible, and they told us they could not give us an answer until the day of check-out. When we did, we were immediately told 'no' before the main reception staff even looked thoroughly. Then when they allowed us to explain they said it was fine to have a late check-out for one room as no-one was checking in. We were charged 80Euros for the one late check-out - which is policy, and I understand. The problem was that the main reception staff wouldn't let us check-in when we had paid in full for the days before for two rooms, and then were very impolite and charged us 80Euros upon check-out. If you have your check-in and check-out painful, then it makes the rest seem just as bad - luckily we don't hold a grudge for bad procedure in one department.
The whole Nirvana section were amazing. The majority of the staff were so personable and friendly all over the resort. The only let down was the main reception - and even then, most of the main reception were very friendly and professional.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DanaMD Great staff
The first room we booked was in a very bad condition.. very old and dirty..it was obvious it has not been maintained at all.. When we talked to Mr. Ahmed who was very helpful professional and understanding he got us upgraded to the nirvana which was much better. Our room there was very nice and always clean thanks to Surya. The whole experience at the nirvana was great thanks to all the lovely staff specialy at the Lafaya resturant .. manager Mr. Mitish and every single members of his team at the restaurant and pool bar..
The hotel generally needs maintenance however the beach.. facilities and the water activities were great and we enjoyed our stay.. the nirvana is quite and not very crowded and the best choice to relax and enjoy the beach..
The food in the other hotel restaurants was great specially the Indian buffet.. they have a great chef there..
There are tourists desks as well at the reception to book other activities than the ones at the hotel and also taxis..it was great and helpful to have this in the same place..

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chris1966 The BEST!!
My wife and I stayed at this hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday. The only reason I am not giving the hotel full stars is due to the lack of a swimming beach. Lots of rocks and coral.....not ideal for swimming.
Everything else are amazing! Most of all their personnel. Everyone is friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
I have seen other reviews indicating the same, but none are exaggerated!
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the adults-only Nirvana section, with it's own pool and bar. They should do something about the noise levels in the afternoon though......for those that want to take a nap.
All inclusive packages are basically a must, as drinks can become quite expensive.
The temperatures (air, sea, and pools) are cold this time of year, and unfortunately we didn't see much sun for the week we stayed. 7 days of windy conditions also didn't help! Still a very enjoyable week......
Luckily we stayed at the Le Meridien as we had everything we needed at the hotel.
Just a shopping tip: You don't need to go to Port Louis markets, or Grand Baie Bazaar for shopping. The shops at the hotel are very well priced. We did enjoy our trip to Grand Baie with the local bus though ........cheapest way to get around, but waiting for the bus is a pain!
Le Meridien has 4 restaurants giving a wide variety of foods available. We tried all of the restaurants over the first 3 days, but then stuck to La Faya - The most unbelievable food and staff!! They made very meal special. Best, best, best food! 10 Stars to Nitish and his team, especially Santy and Poojah (and the Turk who speaks so many languages - couldn't remember his name).
Wouldn't stay anywhere else should we go back to Mauritius.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 10 nights and didn't want to leave. The hotel building is spread out along a lovely stretch of beach enclosed by a coral reef, it is not a boutique hotel but a relaxed spacious place that is a little ragged around the edges which is its charm. We stayed in the Nirvana section which is secluded from the main hotel with the pool being for adults only. It was extremely peaceful and we relaxed on our comfortable sun beds most days which were a few steps from our room next to the lovely infinity pool.
The real beauty of the hotel is its staff and food. We cannot highlight how superb the service is, how welcoming and pleasant the staff are, we were looked after so well we wondered if they suspected that we were hotel inspectors but everyone received the same individual attention.
We ate at all of the restaurants and the standard of cuisine was excellent at them but the one which stole our hearts was 'La Feya' where the staff could not do enough for us and the food was exquisite. Nitish and his team; Pooja, Avish, Kushal, Jarun, Vinesh, Rovin and Santy were no less than brilliant. They were our 'A' team.
We had a special meal for our 1st anniversary whilst there which was held on the jetty. We paid extra for it but it was a special memory which we will hold forever, Sanjays team provided the most delicious dinner, I would have paid just for the fish soup which deserves a couple of Michelin stars.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone, we will be back next year for at least 2 weeks.
