Rated 5 out of 5 by Hotel Experience I have srtayed on many occasions at Le Meridien and as alway find the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly especially the staff at the Reception and your SPG representative. My only comments are that I would like to see a gym being installed as well as a change to the food menu at the restaurant next to the pool. I thoroughlly enjoy coming and will return! May 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Lovely Hotel I was in Cameroon for a Conference and stayed at Le Meridien for 2 days. I ate at the Restaurant for majority of the meals and have room service twice. Everything was really great and I had very little reason to complain. Only thing I would want done better is to have more hotel staff be bilingual especially those taking room service orders. I tried ordering an American Breakfast (I don't speak French) and I don't know what I received but it definitely wasn't an American Breakfast. I also asked for Eggs Sunny Side Up and received some sort of Omelette. I decided to just have it anyway but called back to insist on getting the coffee as I had been given Green Tea. About 7 minutes later, I had a knock on my door... Room service delivered a steaming pot of Black Tea! I gave up! Other than that slight lapse, everything else was great and I would strongly recommend this hotel to others going to Cameroon. May 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice hotel to stay Comfortable hotel with nice common places (restaurant Madiba, Bar le Cocotier) and fantastic staff!!! May 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Inconsistent A curious mixture of extremely helpful charming staff, and very unhelpful surly staff. Random opening hours of restaurant facilities, due to a national holiday no doubt but this should be communicated. Otherwise the hotel is pretty much what you would expect for a slightly worn facility in Douala, and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And some of the people will put a smile on your face! May 6, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Le Meridien Ever! I have travelled around the World and stayed at many properties. I can say, without reservation, that Le Meridien in Douala is the WORST Meridien and Starwood property I have ever stayed in! The rooms appeared to be dirty, run down, mold and rust on the ceilings and dirty brown water out of the faucets. Service was non-existence and staff was surly. The most poor excuse for a Starwood property ever! Not to mention that it was not cheap. Avoid this hotel if you can. What is even more amazing is that Starwood allows this property to part of its chain, thus dragging the Starwood name down with it. When one stays at a Hotel Chain, they do so because they expect to get a certain standard of accommodation, service and comfort. This property does not fulfill any of these requirements. Starwood, please take note!! April 26, 2014
