Booked as Starwood Preferred Guest. No ammenities which made us feel "preferred". i.e. no breakfast, no internet, no fruit or candy in lobby, no tea / coffee in rooms; No room book stating meal times / prices or pool hours. Arrived after 24 hours of travel and of course ready to take a break -found room safe inoperable, toilet leaking onto floor for duration of stay; Awesome pyramid view from room window when not hazy. Good base to explore Cairo. Manager listened to my concerns but there was minimal change; - 2 Egyptian weddings in lobby during our visit / did not venture onto nearby streets alone during our visit which is a 1st for our travels; Hotel security efforts were in place;

One night stay.
Room has no tea/ coffee facilities which was half expected but also not even a small bottle of water. Discussed with reception who explained this is now hotel policy but offered to make an exception and promised to send some water. This never arrived despite a reminder at the reception desk two hours later.
Air conditioner in room not working. Fan operating only. Discussed with reception who said maintenance would be there in 10 minutes. 25 minutes later I spoke again to reception to confirm no visit made. AC then repaired.
Despite registering prior to visit for Take Two double points promotion only usual points have been posted.

Rated 3 out of 5 by IRONMANJT Extremely poor SPG recognition, rude staff.
First off, let me be up-front: the hotel seemed to be going through major renovation work, yet facilities were always clean and functional - no problems there. I had two problems: despite SPG clearly indicating plenty of suites for sale they refused an upgrade saying quote: "SPG is lying." I asked what would happen if I paid and booked for one on the spot - only to be met with a blank stare. My other complaint is the staff follows you everywhere and refuses to let you do anything yourself. Obviously fishing for baksheesh, but it gets annoying not to be left alone for a minute - you can't even carry your own bags to the room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shuffles Great stay
We stayed in this hotel twice for our tour of Egypt with Memphis Tours. The rooms were very pleasant and the staff was really superb. The front desk very helpful also. Breakfast buffet was delicious and the pools very relaxing and enjoyable with a great view of the Pyramids. I was nervous at first to come to Cairo but the hotel really made us feel safe and they treat tourists really well.

We stayed here in May, 2011 and found it to be excellent in service and accomodations, and most of all, we could see The Pyramids right there!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by RafKam Unique Setting, Worth The Experience!
This hotel is worth it for the pyramid views alone. Very worthwhile to book a pyramid view room, although the swimming pool area also enjoys breathtaking views. It also means you can get to the pyramids before, or after the big tour buses have left, and enjoy the best light. I would not advise walking to the Pyramids as you will get very hassled. Arrange for a taxi driver to take you to the pyramids and around them, as it’s very easy to explore. And it’s definitely worth visiting inside the Great Pyramid!
The rooms here have been recently refurbished. Only downside is that they seem to save on air conditioning in the hallways, so it’s almost suffocatingly hot when walking to/from your room. The rooms however are spacious and well appointed. As platinum guests we were upgraded to a lovely pyramid-facing suite, and had a nice welcome pastry gift, which was a nice touch indeed. This is a great hotel for Platinum guests as you get some amazing perks: there is no Club Lounge, but you can have complimentary soft drinks and beer at the bar between 5-7PM which is a great system! You also get the full breakfast buffet, if I remember correctly.
The restaurant also serves a good value buffet dinner with many different options, and you have the option of sitting outside and enjoying the view. The pool bar is also a good option for a quick lunch.
I would highly recommend staying here as it’s much more relaxing than downtown Cairo, especially considering the recent troubles in Egypt. We always felt safe at the Meridien.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GinaTati Worst SPG property I have ever stayed at...
I went there expecting to utilize the "spa," because it's in the hotel name. However, it was under renovation, and this was NOT noted anywhere on the website. Actually, the majority of the hotel was under renovation, and construction noise went until 9PM on some evenings. I caught one staff member smoking in a stairwell. I reported him to the front desk, and they sent someone over immediately. But, I was shocked this would be even possible at this type of hotel. My girlfriend also found a cigarette butt in the shower when we initially checked in. Wifi was not available in the room, even though it was advertised in the room. Best things about this place: location (right at Giza), the breakfast, and the pool. Other than that, don't expect what you would from a normal SPG property.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Max1978 Not Good for long Stays
I stayed at the hotel for a month due to work , the basic room is really poor, and the decor is really outdated for a hotel of this level .
As soon as I arrived I asked for a non smoking room , and I was given a room on the smoking floor with ashtrays in the room , after my complains, they changed my room with an upper level without inform me of the surcharge of EUR 7 per day which clearly later I changed again with a standard non smoking room on no smoking floor.
The view from my window was the crossroads behind hotel, that is quite noising during all day and night.
The breakfast is very little varied, often there is not even the fruit, even upon request ( I personally asked a banana for a complete week getting always negative response from the staff) Glasses and cups do not seem very clean.
Also the buffet dinner is often poor for its price , and there are always the same things but mixed together (only from time to time there is something new, depend about the amount of people in hotel). The restaurant staff is not very responsive to customer requests .
The better treatment at the Mexican restaurant that is always located inside the hotel .
Hotel to be used only for stays of a few days , and with low pretensions , in my opinion, definitely not up to a standard suitable for a tourist location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bigal Great facilities
Considering that the hotel is catering for guests who on the whole are short stay they looked after you very well. One light did not work in the room. Fixed within 5 minutes. The room was very good and the leisure facities very good. The outside pool heated and the indoor spa was excellent. We ate in both restaurants in the hotel and both were very good. I can think of nothing negative to say about the Le Meridian.

Rated 4 out of 5 by syee005 What a view!
Beautiful location! I saw the pictures of the view from the pool on their website but wow! Our room overlooked the pool area and pyramids... and it was just amazing! We had a suite and the facilities were clean and modern.
Service was friendly and they were very eager to meet whatever needs we had. A welcome drink and fruit platter were also provided upon arrival. Restaurant options are limited but food was of good quality and very reasonable pricing.
We also utilized the spa and fitness center which were great as well. On two of the three nights we experienced power outages for about an hour each time which I believe is normal in this area.

Excellent hotel, location, reception staff are great, cleanliness of the hotel as well however, the hotel gave me free tea and coffee facilities (boiler with tea and coffee) up on arrival with one small bottle of water, although we were two (me and my wife) when i asked for refill next day, they brought the tea and coffee bags without water, when i asked for the water they told me it is only up on arrival!!! Guys how can i make my tea without water?? Or do you want me to buy water instead? :) Also the pool was (green) dirty... i stayed for three nights and the water stayed green (very bad impression for 5 stars hotel)

Rated 3 out of 5 by Paul1x Ok, but overpriced for the service I received
The air conditioning in our room did not work properly and took two days for them to repair. Asked to upgrade room and was told they would let me know if one is available. They never did even though I saw them available on web sites. Asked for a additional towels from front desk and was told that they would send someone up with them (only had two in a room with three people), no one showed up with the towels. The room keys quit working on two out of the three days, had to go to the front desk to have them updated.
On the plus side, staff was friendly and the food was good. A little overpriced for the quality, but still good. Proximity to pyramids afforded wonderful views. Great pool and spa.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Migos Great location and facilities
Le Meridien Pyramids was a hotel with a great location and pool/spa/gym facilities. The main restaurant food was also very good. On the down side...I was disappointed by the internet/wifi services and costs and also by the dated nature of my room (the small tube television with tube and sound issues was particularly bad!). My primary complaint with the service was the intermittent nature of service around the pool bar/resto...and also by the front desk service related to the wifi issues (Meridien not taking responsibility for functional issues and being told to call the internet provider directly).
Irrespective of the downside issues raised above...I would still stay again...and would highly recommend the hotel !

Somewhere the communication regarding our request for a non-smoking room and view of the pyramids got lost & was totally ignored at check-in. While understanding the "view" request might be difficult meeting the "non-smoking" request in a hotel of 641 rooms should have been easy - it took over 2 hours! To make amends you eventually gave us a delux room without extra charge -but even then considered it to be a favour & blamed the booking companies (Travel Republic/ Jumbo Tours) for not receiving the requests!
The remainder of the stay was excellent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JayGan Good view of the pyramids, horrible food
It has nice view of 2 of the 3 pyramids.
Unfortunately, food is really bad. The food at "Latest Receipe"... well, it's really hard to describe. Kofta was rubbery and tasteless. The eggs during breakfast were weird. The fruit selection was... well, forget about it-- looking at it is a turn off by itself!
The mexican restaurant's non-smoking section, on the other hand is insulting. Then again, I guess they didn't really have a non-smoking section-- only non-smoking tables. The non-smoking tables, of course, are side by side smoking tables...

The hotel was fairly empty due to political situation in Egypt but I felt perfectly safe there.
My room was in the new part of the hotel overlooking the pool and Pyramids. My room was clean and everything was in good working order.
Breakfast was good with a great variety of things on the menu but the orange juice is not freshly squeezed.
I ate evening meal on one occasion and found the waiter was a little upset that I didn't want to have the buffet but wanted to eat from the menu.
It's great having a bank on site that is open almost all hours but I do miss not having any shops in the hotel to browse or buy that oss bar of chocolate or pack of chewing gum.
I gather that there are shops built but not yet open.
The spa is great with good staff and it looks amazing.

I'm a frequent Customer at Le Meridien Pyramids. I enjoy its location which gives easy access to Smartvillage for business.
I regret there are only 2 restaurants left: main one which is boring, very standard and 1 Tex-Mex with very limited choice. I miss "The Med" which was a really good and a great ambiance, and the Nubian village for more typical middle-east cuisine.
The limousine service is very expensive vs. local rates and we hardly get receipts from them. No "official rate" is published to the view of customers.

Good thing about this hotel is view but the rest need to be improved! Property is very old, restaurant staff service was poor, I can't believe that there are no restaurant open at 11 am as the staff decline to serve me at that time. No one could answer you the question. They all seem so cold and not willing to take care of you. The spa facility wasn't that good as my friend had been lock inside the bathroom for a while.
This hotel is not up to Le Meridien standard at all, I'm quite disappoint

I would like to thank mr Ismail for finding us in the restaurant to reconfirm to my family that appropriate room to accommodate my son had now been allocated.

A beautiful hotel in a superb location. Unfortunately, it was let down by its reservation and check out functions - I experienced hassles in these areas which seemed to persist during my three stays at the the hotel. Although the errors were satisfactorily corrected (thanks to one helpful female staff member who I was lucky to encounter on two such occasions) I came to dread booking in and checking out. Poor room allocations, errors on the account, the 24/7 bank which was unmanned during peak times ...all left a bad taste given the hotel's five star rating. Food and restaurant staff were consistently excellent. Could be so good...with a bit more training and streamlining of the check-in/check-out functions. Luckily, the great view of the pyramids reminds one not to sweat the small stuff...too much,

The hotel staff were very attentive, professional at all times and friendly without being over-familiar. Could not have been happier with the level of serivce in the hotel.
Area's I found lacking - food/restaurants were at best average, in fact I was quite disappointed. Some basic additions to the rooms; tea and coffee making facilities would make a big difference. Internet was also very unreliable and as I was travelling on business this become an issue for me.
