Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent hotel but no where close to 5* I have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times now mainly because of the location. You cannot get a better location in Delhi. The other good thing about this hotel is the SPG recognition is strong. I have always got an upgrade to a suite and actually this time around (may 10th, 2013) the front office person showed me around the different suites available and asked me to pick one i liked. However, the thing that really bugs me about this hotel are the minimum requirement for any good hotel like good internet connection and cable tv! I have stayed here mostly on weekends so i spend a lot of time in the room so for people who are out most of the time, this wouldnt really matter. The internet just s**ks! I have tried calling for help multiple times but there is no use. They need to get a new internet provider. The other problem is the TV! They probably have a cheap cable connection and it shows. The clarity is extremely poor with grains on most channels. And this is in all rooms since i have stayed here multiple times. Also, breakfast spread is quite poor as well. The options are limited and the food is not really fresh. This is it for me. No more le meriidien in Delhi until they fix basic amenities such as internet, TV and improve their breakfast. Booked a india gate view club room with a complimentary bottle of wine through the spg app. At checkin I was allotted room 1710 which does not have the committed view. The room didn't have the wine bottle and the walls had too many stains. I called up the front desk and they said they would come back to me. After not getting a response for about 20 mins I again reminded them and the front desk behaved as if they didn't get any such requests. After a small discussion I was allotted room 1618. This room had the committed view though the India Gate is a bit too far from the hotel. At breakfast I was asked to share a long table of 20 seats with other guest. Cappuccino was not included in the buffet breakfast!!! The worst is yet to come. I went for checking out and spoke to a guy who seamed free and was not attending to anyone. He asked me to queue up on the next counter. While I was waiting a European lady walked up to the same guy and requested for check out. He personally escorted the lady to a counter (which was not a designated spg elite level counter) and helped her check out. After seeing this discrimination I spoke to the guy attending to me and he immediately informed the duty manager about the incidence. The duty manager walked up to me while I was waiting for a car to apologise. However, the whole experience is far below what I have experienced at other spg hotels. If this is the quality of service spg intends to maintain, I will not be able to recommend them ever. August 27, 2013
