Rated 3 out of 5 by ThomasG On The Fence About This Hotel
The location is very good and the hotel has a good look & feel. The staff is good and concierges very good
There are a number of things about the rooms that are bothersome. Individually, maybe not a big deal. But combined, they create a less-than-ideal stay.
You expect the beds in Europe to be bad and this one was no exception. And the pillows are horrible. The bigger issue, tho, was that there is only a half quilt for each side as opposed to one big one. I'm not huge - 6', 200 lbs - but you simply can't stay covered under what they give you. I was told the bigger quilt wasn't available.
The shower stall was so small that several times I unintentionally jarred the water control unit, shutting off or changing the temperature of the water. The double doors open INWARDS (a set-up I just can't believe someone designed) into an already small space AND WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED WHILE YOU'RE IN THE SHOWER. So the floor either got wet or you had to somehow hold them shut with your foot. What a pain
The safe is so low that you have to get down on one knee to use.
So, if you could somehow be sure you were getting a room with a larger shower stall and didn't care so much about bed covers (or were a smaller person) then idrecommend this hotel

Rated 5 out of 5 by Michelle919 Wonderful Stay
This property is an oasis across from the main train station and is an easy walk to Karlsplatz and Marienplatz.
Annina at the front desk was a doll. She greeted me each and every time I was at the front desk with a smile and offered wonderful recommendations. All the staff were wonderful, but she really was a shining star.
My room was on the 7th floor-a large renovated junior suite overlooking a quiet courtyard. The bathroom was a good size. I never heard noise and slept well each evening during my stay.
We had the buffet breakfast one morning because we wanted a big breakfast before the 5 hour train journey and it was very good. I do wish the breakfast was a platinum member benefit as it is at many other SPG properties. We ordered room service one evening and it was very good.
The only sore point is lack of wifi in the rooms. As an SPG Plat I get free internet, but I had to go to the lobby. This was an issue when my husband was to join us and his flight was canceled for two days in a row and I needed to deal with his arrangements. Hopefully by the time I return at Christmas, free wifi will be available in the guest rooms.
Thank you Annina and Le Meridien Munich for making my first trip to Munich so wonderful. I can't wait to see you again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by hjsme Dieses mal Pech gehabt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by EatDrinkSleep Great location, questionable service
This hotel is well located but I had some bumps, see below, that made me question whether this is up to Starwood standards.
One: the first room I was put in, a junior suite on a non spg floor that had a strange scent to it like the air had been recently smoked in and then filtered. There was mascara on my pillows and some strange white marks on the sofa. I called to ask to be moved and they found a smaller room on the SPG floor --- but was still charged the junior suite rate ... Argh!
Two: I had laundry done while at the hotel. They delivered it on time but when I inspected it several pieces were missing. I called service and they told me that they already knew about this and could I sort through all of the laundry to find my missing pieces. First, why was I not told when the laundry was delivered. Second, after having to dig through other peoples underwear I was still charge the full rate, no discount for the error.
Three: there was blood on my sheets, and it was not mine. I called service to let them know about the blood and they asked me what I wanted them to do. It was up to me to suggest to them that they should change the blood sheets to new ones.
Four: the only wifi was in the lobby and you had to pay to use. As Starwood hotels are usually business focused, this surprised me especially in a large city.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarilynnK Very convenient to the train station & city
The Le Meridien's location of only a few blocks to the train station makes it very convenient and quick for travel. We arrived by train and very easily rolled our luggage to the hotel. The room was not ready but the staff offered to store our luggage while we went to explore the MarienPlatz pedestrian area only 10mins away. The front desk at check-in efficiently handled everything and also noted that we had booked additional nights at a different rate but made sure we did not have to change rooms during our stay. We stayed in an upgraded room at only 15 Euros additional a night and it was as pictured on the website for the superior plus room. The room was contemporary and the bathroom had a separate shower from the tub. The first night we had dinner in Le Potager and the food and service was excellent. We also had room service the next morning and they even followed up with a phone call to see if everything was satisfactory. When we had a change of plans for our departure due to a pending airport strike in Frankfurt then the managers make exceptions for a day earlier departure. The concierge, mainly George, came to our rescue and helped call the airlines to check on the status of the flight leaving and then booked us online, printing the train tickets to Frankfurt. All & all this service was over the top and always with a friendly unhurried attitude. Very refreshing. We definitely will have a repeat stay here the next visit to Munich.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GarythePharmacist Above Average Overall
We stayed six nights recently, and had a very nice experience overall. The most helpful person (out of many of the helpful staff) was Carolina at the front desk, who reserved several restaurants for us, even though she is not one of the concierges. Everthing in the hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Location is across the street from the main train/subway station. Several ways this hotel could be improved are: (1) Need free Wi-Fi in every room, for those of us with IPads and smart phones (2) The business center only had two computers, neither of which has a camera for Skyping our relatives back in the USA. Often had to wait 10 minutes to use one. Need more computers unless they will be adding Wi-Fi to the rooms soon. (3) The restaurant was too expensive and too "gourmet". We wanted a simple meal during the week, like a ribeye steak or some broiled seafood (think Outback, Red Lobster, or Olive Garden). This is no doubt an elegant restaurant, but not what we were looking for. Maybe they need a more basic restaurant as well as La Potage. Ended up eating an overpriced cheeseburger down the street. Likewise, the liquor at the hotel bar was quite expensive, so we did our drinking elsewhere--this is a loss of potential income for the hotel. (4) I would have liked more recognition as a Starwood Vacation Owner and Starwood Gold member than just a couple of free bottles of water. Like perhaps entrance to an executive lounge, or some free passes to one of the local museums. (5) Adding a complimentary breakfast would be a huge improvement, at least some free pastries and fruit. Having said that, the pool and spa are excellent, as are the rooms, and the overall service from the staff. We would recommend this hotel, and would probably stay here again.
